Looks like a cracking deal. I hope this is not a con. \x0a\x0aIt is for charity. Used PayPal so some confidence if empty box turns up.

oh boy, people actually fall for this.

Oos

I'm sure it's real, they've been selling on eBay for many years, I bought about half a dozen laptops from them over the years

Original Poster

Still allowing me to buy...had same issue with me. When I refreshed, qty updated and then I could place an order.

Original Poster

That's problem for eBay....not consumers.

For anyone that's purchased its going to be a wait before you know if the deal is correct, to remind you from their terms and description
"Here for sale is a brand new sealed MLH12/BA i5 @ 2.9 Ghz Apple Macbook Pro Retina Space Grey with TouchBar, the item comes with all the accessories and 1 year free Apple warranty. The item is a UK spec with UK keyboard and power supply but is shipped to us from our UK supplier in USA so the dispatch date from us is 30 days, your item will be delivered to you in 28-30 days after your order. Please do not order if you need the item next day."

Thanks Ralph...I have taken screenshot.... they did something similar with PS4 last year which never turned up...but money was fully refunded. If similar trick this time...time to use my solicitor wife for letter to charity commission.

I ordered one of these on June 25th to be delivered July 25th. Yesterday I receive a message from seller saying shipment from US is delayed and it'll be another month until delivery. Pep411 what's your expected delivery? Thanks

A couple of positive recent feedbacks on their ebay site from people who have received the MacBooks as well as a couple of negative reviews from people still waiting

Hi Mike,

I am being told via eBay messages that laptops will delivered 14th of August....i will kick up a massive stink if they are taking ppl for a ride. Being charity does not mean they can mess around.

Nicely outside your 30 day limit for claiming with ebay for non-delivery - at least PayPal now gives you 180 days to claim.

Original Poster

Fair point. Called eBay...they said the same 180 days via PayPal so money is gaurenteed. They however asked me to call on 7th Aug i.e. 29th day from order and lodge an failed delivery claim, even if seller guarantees a date and they can initiate the claim process.

If I were you lodge the claim, if laptop turns up great if not PayPal/eBay will chase it up for you as these guys do not answer their phone.

I still feel it is worth the risk as credit card on interest free period, so apart from time to chase, it is not costing me anything.

But if it turns up...massive 60% discount.

Hi guys,

I managed to order one of these Macbooks too, and have seen the negative feedback the company has recently been receiving so i contacted them earlier today and got the following response:

(My Message)
Hi,
I have seen that you have recently been receiving negative feedback for not supplying your customers with these Macbook Pro's. Some saying that you have told them that there has been a delay, and others saying you have cancelled their orders.

Can you please confirm that you are able to supply these Macbook Pro's? and that i will receive mine on the estimated delivery date you provided me (08/08/17).

I don't mind waiting 30 days as you have detailed in the listing, but reading the negative feedback is a worry.

Best regards,

(Their response)
Hi,

Thanks for your recent query
We had to send the below email to customers that purchased the item originally.
We have spoken to most of our customers and they are fine, a few people requested a refund and are disappointed with the delay hence leaving negative feedback.

The item you have purchased will be delivered to you on Monday 14th August, however if you are not happy then we can offer you a full refund for the item.

Hi,

We are writing to you regarding your purchase of our Apple Macbook Listing

We have purchased 300 of this unit which were to be delivered to us on 2 pallets, 1 pallet of 150 arriving on July 14th, with the delivery date to customers July 17th and the 2nd pallet arriving to us on August 11th with a delivery date to Monday August 14th.

Unfortunately, the supplier has advised that both pallets will now be delivered to us on August 11th 2017 which will affect your delivery date to become Monday August 14th 2017.

If you could let us know by replying to this message or calling us on 01376 518522 (Mon-Fri 10-4) if you would like to keep your purchase with the new delivery date of Monday August 14th or if you would like a full refund for the item so we can relist any items that require a refund.

We apologise that we have let you down but unfortunately the delivery date is out of our control. For your piece of mind, your purchase is covered by PayPal and buyer protection for 180 days.

Thanks

Hopefully they are not taking everybody for a ride, and we will receive our Macbooks on Monday 14th August.

They shouldn't be taking money from buyers to finance a big order from a supplier - their main business model is to refurbish phones and laptops not make speculative orders from oversea suppliers of new goods. Sounds similar to another long standing seller who resold imported iPads and Samsung phones - last year they took thousands of orders for discounted iPads and their supplier vanished with their cash - they ended up with hundreds of negative feedback and lost their ebay account in addition to having to refund everyone.

Around 195k made selling just the macbooks. Nice little interest earner if kept in the bank account for a month!

Their company register show only £50k in cash....clearly they are manipulating their status as charity and VAT loopholes which is very uncharacteristic for charities.

Even if the go bust or their shady supplier vanishes, eBay and PayPal will have to cough up, which serves them right, for promoting ponsi scheme.

Either ways a laptop turns up or not I am making charity commission aware of this.

I urge others to do the same. They should not commit themselves to something which they are clearly got poor control over.

What do you mean by company register? If you mean the last filed accounts at company's house they only cover the period to 31 March 2016:

Has anyone received their laptops?

Original Poster

Not yet. On eBay they messaged back that delivery on schedule.

They do not pick phone nor respond to tweets.

But quick at replying to messages on eBay.

They are still saying that i should receive mine on Monday 14th August.

They also said to me that it'll be here on the 14th. Worst that can happen is the money is refunded.

Original Poster

Any tracking info emailed to other posters. I am away on Monday and trying to get delivery sorted, they do not pick phone calls

Nope, not tracking yet despite them telling me that the Macbook will be delivered on Monday. I seriously doubt so...

Seems a daft way to trash your feedback if he doesn't deliver.

What would they even gain by not delivering?

I am not optimistic. I will certainly be taking this with charity …I am not optimistic. I will certainly be taking this with charity commission. They do not answer phone calls or tweets and now even eBay messages.I would urge others to do the same. I will post the link on Monday.

They haven't tweeted in the last 7 years, so I presume the account is dormant.

is it likely a no-show? argh, annoying and disappointing.

Original Poster

Ssco that's the number I have been dialing. I got the number from one of the replies above.

Bit strange for them not to send tracking information before postings such expensive item. I hope I am wrong, but judging by general response everyone had, looks very unlikely.

They have a new listing for these now, same price 37 sold more than 10 available. However on closer looking they now state that they are US Keyboard and not UK $ symbol not £. Same 30 day delivery..

"Here for sale is a brand new sealed MLH12/BA i5 @ 2.9 Ghz Apple Macbook Pro Retina Silver with TouchBar, the item comes with all the accessories and 1 year free Apple warranty. This item is a US Model, all this means is that it has the $ instead of the £ on the keyboard. This item comes from our supplier in USA so the dispatch date from us is 30 days, your item will be delivered to you in 28-30 days after your order. Please do not order if you need the item next day."

Good idea. Just installed app. Nothing active for me

not marked as dispatched on ebay..

hence unsure

Same for me too, I feel that cancelling/ asking for my money back may be the next step (I recently won a 2017 15 MBP for £1700, so would probably sell this one anyway).

how can ebay allow them to list items which they cannot fulfill if they refund the current orders. Don't they have to pay final price fee as well which makes no sense to keep listing and then refunding.

ebay fee will be max. £20 per laptop so not so much compared with the sale price.

It's not just fee. It probably breaches eBay rules. Repeatedly selling items that do not exist.

Nothing on my DPD app too.

Mine says dispatched!!!
