Is that screen resolution a joke?

Am I missing something here. The 4GB version of this is £769 on Amazon. 16GB Crucial RAM is £66. That's £835.00. So not really a good deal.

You can get the Retina display version for this price, if you keep your eye on the Apple outlet store.

2012 model...save your money and buy a new one, or maybe look for a cheaper used onem

Isn't this a couple generations old?

The 13 MBP with 6100 iris pro graphics, 128gb SSD and 8gb ram is 850 on amazon.

Try and find a Windows laptop with same spec for much less and you wont.

These posts always attract the apple slaters, maybe this is not the best deal that's Costco for you, an MacBook will last longer than most windows laptops, I have a 2009 model and it's running fine, latest OS X my bros laptop is always crashing, forever restoring it back to new state as its too damn slow and that's an i5 less than 2 yr old cost £599 new, give me an apple any day, it does more than keep the doctor away!

Another point about macbooks is their resale value... Mine is 4 years old and going strong. If I were to sell I'd get quite a lot of money. Most 3yr+ windows machines are next to worthless

That all said... This isn't a good deal. Get the retina with latest components.

Agree. I have a 2009 MB Pro, two SSD's in it and 8GB RAM. It's only a C2D, yet flies along. Granted I don't do any 3D stuff, but for all normal PC use, photo editing, MM and HTPC stuff, it never has a problem. Saying all that, the deal presented here is pretty poor, so will attract appropriate comments. There is another deal on here for students which has attracted a lot of heat.

As much as I love my Macbook Pro this is a really bad deal....
Old phat 2012 model with 500Gb Internal spinner....
Much better off buying the newer Macbook Pro Retina with stupidly fast PCI-E ssd.

No hate, and this is coming from someone who owns, let's see 5 apple laptops. I cannot STAND apple slaters but I equally abhore people like you also. You are criticising someone for having their opinion and doing the same yourself. I mean, a 2009 mac? really? Whilst I have a 2009 mac, it is chugging along when it comes to heavy websites these days which include a lot of animation. Heck, the macs are terrible when it comes to flash anyways which is unfortunately a standard no matter what you say. Also gone are the days where mac software did not crash or get viruses. At least with windows you can press control alt delete. Mac apps as of recent are prone to just crashing with a dialogue box that only gives you the option of sending apple a report. With ever iteration iTunes becomes more and more bloated and cluttered.

I made it a policy years ago not to update iPhone and iPad software unless completely necessary, because overtime a new version comes out your device becomes slower and slower. However overtime you download new iTunes and connect your phone or pad to it to put some stuff on, either your music disappears or one thing or the other gets messed up during the sync requiring you to restore the iPad to the NEW bloody firmware which leaves you with a slower device anyways. It's a vicious cycle. I used to be like you but seriously, open your eyes to other people's opinions.

Apple fanboys are like those crazy maniacal mormon/scientologist cults who don't listen to anything someone else has to say because you have deluded yourself into thinking you know better. I wish I had got a surface instead of an iPad air 2 this xmas. Stupid device that does nothing better than an iPad air 1 with the same 4:3 screen. Ugh.

Also of course your mac doesn't crash. Then again so wouldn't windows if you only used it for internet browsing and sending emails. I mean come on. Sheesh.

That Tosh is over double the thickness at 27mm, has a 3 hour battery life compared to 8 hours on the Mac, doesn't have flash memory as the main HDD and weighs half as much again

Its always the same in Mac threads people either get them or they don't no middle ground. if you want a laptop that's truly comparable to a macbook (So spec, build quality. weight, size etc..) then the closest out there are the Dell XPS 13 or HP Spectre x360...both cost around the same as a Macbook

Anyone can make a laptop that's faster or better spec or cheaper than a Mac but even all the big brands (Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo) struggle when they try to do it and wrap it up in a quality aluminium build eeking out 10+hrs of battery life from it. some are getting close but still no cigar yet.
And No I'm not a Windows hater (there are 6 Windows Laptop, 2 Windows desktops and a Windows server in my house) I can just appreciate the good engineering in Macbooks..that imo justifies there price.

However this particular Macbook is one to avoid, old tech, old spec, old design. You can get much mor eMac for your money than this. Shame on you Costco...especially as I actually quite like shopping there....

Okay then the Asus Zenbook UX303. It's lighter than the Macbook and it has an i7, the same amount of SSD storage, 8GB of ram, a higher resolution touch screen, better graphics and far more ports.

You take me as an apple fanboy, lol, I use windows a lot of the time, jeeees I repair em a lot of the time as well, that's where I used to make my money from, when any pc/laptop make can build something of apple quality yeah you can say it comes at a price but doesn't everything! I have windows laptops and PCs in my house as well, just that I prefer my iPhone and MacBook to the windows laptop, I just don't see why people **** something off because it costs more, each to their own, like I said the deal is not a deal but that's down to Costco, like others have said there are better deals out there for MacBooks if that's your persuasion, if not then find move on, I don't spend my time slagging off android phones etc just because I use iOS,

Battery life still nowhere near a Mac and don't forget the SSD on a Mac is flash memory connected directly to the bus, not a seperate drive connected via a sata port.
