This isn't exactly a brilliant deal. But since the 17'' inch macbook pro is going the way of the Dodo anyone interested in getting one better hurry up.

Same price at Dixons

Don't forget cashback

Who ever had this kind of money to blow on a laptop would be able to buy the newest ones without a problem

I appreciate the 17 is no more but man that's allot of money and seeing as the new macs have retina displays you don't need a 17inch cold from me

Good old HUKD as always. I thought this was about the cheapest price for the given item, not what 'people think other people should buy'...

Now to await the pro / anti mac brigade, sigh.

Can you please direct me to the 'given item' rule? People constantly (rightly in my opinion) compare to similar items (functionality wise) on this site. Clearly when you compare Apple goods to similar products they are expensive and go cold. Then the fanboys get upset. Sigh.

There's no 'rule' that's just my interpretation of what this site is about. Personally I search whenever I'm after something specific, I don't come to this site for general guidance on purchases because I'm capable of making my own choices. But each to their own. Don't understand how you think that makes me a fanboy, but then again I don't really care sweetie

You can get the new retina one for £1800 it's only 2 inches difference (thats what she said)

exactly, that's why it's cold.

That's a hell of a lot of money for a laptop.

Good saving on the RRP and indeed the last 17" MacBook Pro. I had a refurb one for five years, it is big but the screen size is terrific for work and I know a few designers who will be bemoaning the loss of a 17" model.

Retina displays are not available on all new MacBook Pros, just the "next generation MacBook Pro with Retina display" - catchy name? - starts at £1799 for 15".

I'd rather have brand new with Retina for 1800 rather than refurb for 1640.
