Great price, £149 cheaper than everywhere else

The all-new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is the ideal notebook for enthusiasts and professionals looking for fast performance in a super-compact and light design. It features a stunning Retina display with over 4 million pixels, ltra-fast all-flash architecture, and the latest dual-core Intel processors.
Key benefits:

Your new MacBook Pro will arrive with OS X Mountain Lion. With iCloud built into the foundation of OS X Mountain Lion, it is easier than ever to keep your content up to date across all your devices.
The MacBook Pro features a rapid 2.5GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of memory and a long-lasting 7 hour battery.
Flash-based storage, which is up to four times faster than a traditional hard drive. You’ll notice a difference in whatever you do — starting up takes seconds, apps launch quickly, even navigating the desktop feels incredibly fluid and responsive. It’s all thanks to flash storage.
At 2560 by 1600 pixels and with 227 pixels per inch, it has four times the pixels of the current generation 13-inch MacBook Pro.
Nearly two times the resolution of an HDTV, making text look razor sharp and images extra crisp.
The new design minimizes glare while delivering incredible contrast and colour. In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology provides a 178-degree viewing angle.
For boosted graphics performance the new MacBook Pro with Retina display features Intel’s HD Graphics 4000 processor which includes an on-chip engine for video encoding and decoding. Built for 60% faster performance than previous models - you’ll experience video playback and FaceTime calls that are smoother, more responsive and truer to life.
The 720p FaceTime HD camera is perfect for the brilliant retina display. You and your friends can make video calls to any iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or Mac with a FaceTime HD camera.
Connect wirelessly to Bluetooth enabled peripherals and go online while you’re out and about with the latest three-stream 802.11n Wi-Fi. With two Thunderbolt ports, you can daisy-chain as many as six devices, including your display, to create a fully-fledged workstation. Two USB 3.0 ports which are up to 10 times faster and backward compatible with USB 2.0. An HDMI port for easy connectivity to HDTVs and projectors.
The improved, powerful speakers have higher fidelity and a wide dynamic range. The dual microphones have also been improved to use an adaptive beam-forming algorithm to reduce background noise and help you come across loud and clear when making FaceTime calls or using Dictation.
A long lasting battery life of up to 7 hours and 30-day standby time, so you can do more than ever, all in one single charge.
The all new Power Nap mode in OS X Mountain Lion, allows your MacBook Pro to continue to receive new email and calendar invitations while it’s asleep. And when it’s connected to a power source, it can download software updates and make backups with Time Machine. So the next time you open your notebook, everything’s right there waiting for you.
The MacBook Pro with Retina display also features an advanced trackpad with wonderfully intuitive Multi-Touch technology. You can flip through photos, enlarge text and adjust an image using just your fingers. Your hands have room to spread out on the full-size keyboard with crisp, responsive keys. And it’s illuminated so you can see what you’re typing in low-light settings.
iCloud
iCloud stores your content and lets you access your music, photos, calendars, contacts, documents and more from whatever device you’re on. So if you take a picture with your iPhone or make changes to your meeting schedule on your iPad, iCloud makes sure everything appears on your Mac too. And it works both ways — create a to-do list on your Mac and you can make edits to it on your iPhone.
Retina-Ready Software
To take advantage of the beautiful Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion apps like Safari, Mail, Calendar, Contacts and more — as well as other Apple apps including iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iTunes, Aperture and Final Cut Pro — have already been optimised, and updates to other Apple apps are coming soon.

Software included:
iLife (includes iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand))
Mac OS X Mountain Lion (includes iTunes, Time Machine, Quick Look, Spaces, Spotlight, Dashboard, Mail, iChat, Safari, Address Book, QuickTime, iCal, DVD Player, Photo Booth, Front Row, Xcode Developer Tools)

Yes because it's a saving

Not sure why this is being voted cold. Also, I can't vote it hit for some reason

Good price compared to elsewhere.

But 128GB is mean.

Despite costing a bit more you can always make a fair chunk back when it comes to resell, so TCO is low.

If someone would like to post up a near identical 13" PC based ultrabook with an aluminium unibody case, 2560 by 1600 IPS screen, 7 hour battery, 128gb SSD with operating system and a full suite of production software for less, then I'll vote this cold.

It's a lot of money but that doesn't make it expensive for what it is.

Good price for a great laptop.

1,300 bones for a laptop with 128GB, an integrated graphics card and no more than an i5.

But it has an Apple logo on the back, doesn't it.

Where else can you find a laptop with 2,560 x 1,600 resolution?

Nice spot OP. My son said only yesterday that he wanted one and intended to get it at the airport "duty free" when he goes back to work next month. I think it's about the same price at Dixon's "df" but only 1 year warranty. Much nicer and quicker to deal with John Lewis if anything does go wrong too.

So you agree that you're paying for the screen and the other specs are of a 300 pound laptop. Ah.

Voted Hot, good deal compared the everywhere else! And as said above if you can get a computer with all the same spec as this for cheaper i'll give you a badge.

It's £1299 from amazon, and £1259 on amazon marketplace fulfilled by amazon.

Unless you're saying that's only a 1 year warranty and it cost's £149 for a 2nd year or something.

I'm not voting either way on this one.

I've also been advised (by reviews) to go for the 15" Retina MBP over this as it's so much more powerful relative to laptops of the same size. If you're actually going to make use of the retina screen for doing stuff that is, photo editing and video that is.
Obviously costs a **** of dosh more.

Nice trolling, this isn't a budget laptop made of plastic, it's lightweight, made from a single peice of aluminium casing, SSD, the best laptop screen in the world and IPS, it comes with a full production suite of software, a longlife battery etc etc.

Like I said if your not after an ultrabook with this sort of spec, why compare it to a plastic £300 PC/windows laptop ?

I'd love a windows 8 touchscreen version of this with the same spec for that sort of money, but they cost twice as much as this, and some even have 20 hour batterys and i7 cpu, but are £2500 plus.

Might want to see this before you decide on splashing out 1300 for the retina model:

If you end up with the LG panel, you're in for a bad time.

That really is laughably s***.

My 15" laptop (£650 + better spec. on all other fronts) has a 1920x1200 resolution, and that's pretty much the highest I can cope with using windows without increasing the font size which defeats the purpose of a high resolution screen, so how on earth is this kind of resolution a benefit?

Please post up the weight, body material, etc etc. That's not a like like for like comparison.

THIS IS AN ULTRABOOK

I have far more powerful laptop that most people will ever need, but it is nothing like the spec on offer here, but mine has the latest i7 CPU, 32gb ram, two 670 SLI graphics cards and a 17" screen.

This is a completely different prospect and is for carrying about and being able to work portably for long periods of time, carted about from airport to airport without pulling the tendons of your arm.

Maybe i'm the idiot for even bothering to try and explain. If you hate it you hate it, and if you can't post up a like for like example for less, then you'll only ever manage "my plastic larger laptop is faster and cost less", "it's only dear because of the logo", etc etc.

Also the human eye needs more than 900 pixels per inch before it can no longer tell the difference. Work that out over even a 10" screen and you'll see that 1920x1200 on a 15" screen is still way short of the limits of your eyes and brain.

All you are talking about is font size, not resolution. In 10 years you'll all laugh at the retina screens and iphones/ipads/galaxy nexus etc as if you were looking at CRT screens from 1998 with 1024 x768 res.

This was on at 3 years guarantee just before Christmas and then Curry's followed suit.

Additional stock as 13's aren't selling as well as they did.

Great price for what it is though!

waste of money!

capelli

waste of money!

Food/drink, warmth/shelter are all you need in life - so essentially everything else is a waste of money.

In my opinion, if you work hard and aren't putting yourself in debt to buy it, then why not ?

Plus even in a couple of years you'll still get people bidding ludicrous amounts of money for these second hand.

working hard and having the money are not relevant, I have the money and don't work hard but I still wouldn't buy this and it's still a waste of money.
good for tag hags though if you can leave the price tag on, brandtastic.

This has been posted many times before and has been at this price for a while now

Just asking a question, But is the Retina Display and the Macbook on the whole really worth 600 quid more than This Asus Zenbook.

for that price I can get a super duper high specs Dell laptop & a Samsung galaxy S3 and 3 days break to the Highland.

I can't stand 15" laptops, 13" everytime. I'm not saying I'd pay £1300 for this Macbook, but I can appreciate some people will. I'm having to suffer a poor 1366x768 13" Samsung Ultrabook instead.

I want to run Aperture, purely as its raw converter has the best exposure recovery algorithm going.

I can't do that on your "better" laptop.

Buy presents for your kids instead of moaning at them for wanting things you selfish sheep.

You can get better laptops for half the price. Maybe spend extra money leading a little about technology and what's in the products you buy lol

Banned

O and lol at the i5 processor for the money.

God we hate how stupid you mac sheep are. I know it's aways said but you really have to see what your buying.

Remember your only 10 percent of the world who have mac os. There is a reason for that lol

Banned

Rederman I feel your pain lol. I too have an i7 laptop with ssd and 8gb of ram and it cost me around £650 and that's a top one.

So so so so dumb these idiots.

It's a shame most of you that are just Apple haters. I'm completely neutral - I wouldn't buy this but do believe it's value for money.

Can you find me a cheaper 13" 1080p laptop with an i5 or better, SSD, IPS screen (wide viewing angles), exceptional build quality?

It's only a 1366x768 screen, it's not a full SSD (yes I know 24GB is, but still) and the i5-3317UM is underpowered compared to the I5-3210M.
