The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is the ideal notebook for enthusiasts and professionals looking for fast performance in a super-compact and light design. It features a stunning Retina display with over 4 million pixels, ultra-fast all-flash architecture, and the latest dual-core Intel processors.
Key benefits:

Your new MacBook Pro will arrive with OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion introduces innovative features including the all new Messages app, Notification Centre, system-wide Sharing, AirPlay Mirroring, Game Centre and the enhanced security of Gatekeeper. With iCloud built into the foundation of OS X, Mountain Lion makes it easier than ever to keep your content up to date across all your devices.

The MacBook Pro features a rapid 2.6GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of memory and a long-lasting 7 hour battery.

Flash-based storage, which is up to four times faster than a traditional hard drive. You’ll notice a difference in whatever you do — starting up takes seconds, apps launch quickly, even navigating the desktop feels incredibly fluid and responsive. It’s all thanks to flash storage.

At 2560 by 1600 pixels and with 227 pixels per inch, it has four times the pixels of the current generation 15-inch MacBook Pro. Nearly two times the resolution of an HDTV, making text look razor sharp and images extra crisp. The new design minimizes glare while delivering incredible contrast and colour. In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology provides a 178-degree viewing angle.

For boosted graphics performance the new MacBook Pro with Retina display features Intel’s HD Graphics 4000 processor which includes an on-chip engine for video encoding and decoding. Built for 60% faster performance than previous models - you’ll experience video playback and FaceTime calls that are smoother, more responsive and truer to life.

The 720p FaceTime HD camera is perfect for the brilliant retina display. You and your friends can make video calls to any iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or Mac with a FaceTime HD camera.

Connect wirelessly to Bluetooth enabled peripherals and go online while you’re out and about with the latest three-stream 802.11n Wi-Fi. With two Thunderbolt ports, you can daisy-chain as many as six devices, including your display, to create a fully-fledged workstation. Two USB 3.0 ports which are up to 10 times faster and backward compatible with USB 2.0. An HDMI port for easy connectivity to HDTVs and projectors.

The improved, powerful speakers have higher fidelity and a wide dynamic range. The dual microphones have also been improved to use an adaptive beam-forming algorithm to reduce background noise and help you come across loud and clear when making FaceTime calls or using Dictation.

A long lasting battery life of up to 7 hours and 30-day standby time, so you can do more than ever, all in one single charge. The all new Power Nap mode in OS X Mountain Lion, allows your MacBook Pro to continue to receive new email and calendar invitations while it’s asleep. And when it’s connected to a power source, it can download software updates and make backups with Time Machine. So the next time you open your notebook, everything’s right there waiting for you.

The MacBook Pro with Retina display also features an advanced trackpad with wonderfully intuitive Multi-Touch technology. You can flip through photos, enlarge text and adjust an image using just your fingers. Your hands have room to spread out on the full-size keyboard with crisp, responsive keys. And it’s illuminated so you can see what you’re typing in low-light settings.

iCloud iCloud stores your content and lets you access your music, photos, calendars, contacts, documents and more from whatever device you’re on. So if you take a picture with your iPhone or make changes to your meeting schedule on your iPad, iCloud makes sure everything appears on your Mac too. And it works both ways — create a to-do list on your Mac and you can make edits to it on your iPhone.

Retina-Ready Software To take advantage of the beautiful Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion apps like Safari, Mail, Calendar, Contacts and more — as well as other Apple apps including iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iTunes, Aperture and Final Cut Pro — have already been optimised, and updates to other Apple apps are coming soon.

OS X Mountain Lion

Every Mac comes with OS X Mountain Lion, the latest release of the world’s most advanced desktop operating system. It delivers 200 new features that make the Mac better than ever and make your Mac, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch work even better together.

Use the Messages app to send unlimited messages to anyone on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or another Mac.

Pretty ignorant there. Retina display does not just equal IPS.

It's a combination of pixel density and viewing distance.

The best comment I have ever seen on HUKD about this was "what's the point if paying for extra pixels that you cannot see?"
If ever someone had completely missed the point!

You sound pretty angry anyway.

Isn't this RRP?

No way this is worth that! The great freeze has come early this year!

Why are you so angry? Calm down good boy, if people want to spend their money on apple products it has nothing to do with you or anyone else for that matter.

For starters, consumers keep telling manufacturers "we want our devices to look good and we don't care how basic and overpriced they are" which has the knock-on effect of causing the next generation of products to get worse and worse.

The iPhone has barely changed since it first came out, but all the iDiots (technical term for Apple fans) will queue up for the latest one despite it not actually offering any significant improvement.

Take the disposable culture of today - most electronics companies (and several car companies) make lower quality products than they used to partly because so many consumers replace products so often instead of keeping products for as long as they perform the job they were intended for.

10+ years ago, you could reasonably expect a Sony TV (or VCR/PS2/etc) for example to last well over a decade if you treated it right. Nowadays, you're lucky if it lasts anywhere near half that time.

Also, anyone who wants a computer of this specification and is interested in DEALS would clearly go for a different brand and pay about half the price.

play.com/PC/…tml

What's the deal with this site selling the 2.7GHz version at way below Apple's prices? Even Apple's refurbished model is more expensive and this one is brand new.

Can I trust this seller from Play? It's v tempting.

Thanks

Your still on a pointless rant IMO!
So if the "idiots" as you put it are buying such boring and uninteresting iphone modifications and upgrades as each new iphone is realised. What does that make the people that buy cheaper ripp off copies of the iPhone at a later date after the new iPhone is realised! Adroidmongoloids??

I couldn't understand half of that to be honest, but I believe you are saying that Android phones are cheap copies of iPhones?

Completely untrue. For one thing, why would Android want to copy an inferior device? Also, Apple have even copied many features from Android such as the 'control centre'.

You can think of an iPhone as essentially a cut down simplified version of Android running on a fashionably designed phone with various features missing (bluetooth, nfc, etc).

Even before iPhones were around, I had what could easily be considered a better smartphone, albeit less fashionable. Take a look at the Sony Ericsson P900 for starters - even the latest iPhones are missing various useful and interesting features that the P900 had, although I can't think of a single one that's missing from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2!

You even admitted in an earlier comment that other phone manufactures actually copy iPhones! Do you even know what your actually writing!? You said that because iPhones are so popular and that other phone manufactures are not trying so hard as if they would if the iphone didn't exist they just copy iphone features because they are classed as cool/trendy.
Your starting to give me a head ache and are boring me also with all this android vs iphone guff you keep blabbing on about.
Why I first replied to the first comment you made was because you were OTT with having a pop at people that want to buy the product they so chose, which I will say again is totally there free choice. So enough already about my phone is better than your phone nonsense and move along.

you guys all slating Apple, recommended me a laptop on par with this for a lower price.I haven't seen any examples yet.interested to know as I'm an Apple fan but open minded.

I have to assume you are referring to my comment

consumers keep telling manufacturers "we want our devices to look good … consumers keep telling manufacturers "we want our devices to look good and we don't care how basic and overpriced they are" which has the knock-on effect of causing the next generation of products to get worse and worse

- I'm not saying other phone manufacturers copy iPhones, just the general idea of devices that prefer form over function. Can you imagine how poor technology would be today if computers and phones had always been designed to be fashionable instead of functional?

In fairness, I'm sure there are some ideas Android took from Apple. I can't think of any, but that's the usual way technology progresses - everyone steals everyone else's ideas to use on their next generation products.

Yes, people have free choice to choose what they want to buy, but the majority of Apple fans haven't even given Android (or Windows) a fair chance and thus can't make an informed decision on which device to buy.

And I was actually "having a pop" at the people that vote hot on deals that represent poor value for money (i.e. the exact opposite of a 'deal' in my opinion). It would be like me (a Toyota fan) voting hot on a 'deal' of an Avensis that has less functionality for double the price of the class-leader (which I believe is still the Mondeo), but slightly more fashionable....
