With pretty low specs!
If it's anything like my MacBook Pro it doesn't upgrade past El Capitan. Still runs well but mine has an SSD and upgraded ram.
I like Apple stuff, but £300 for this? No. Sorry, but i can run faster than this.
It's a refurb which should be included in the title.
Definitely should mention refurb in title sorry voted cold on this one!
If it's an A1342 (as in the 2nd photo - no buttons on trackpad) they are from 2009-2010.

They still run quite nice, but sell for nearer to £150 on eBay.

I bought a mint one a few months back for £15 result!
Spot the person who works for JTF and joined today ?
Old junk. I used to own one when they new and it was junk then with failing brittle plastic that was replaced Twice!

That's the A1181 that has track pad buttons. The A1342 is MUCH better, though it gets minor crack lines near the hinges, they don't actually get too bad and cause a problem though.

Freezing. Ice age cold.
I have one with SSD which really helps and it does fine. But its old.
Old is gold?

And you can still call Apple and get support for it. Can't imagine you would be able to call Dell or HP and get support on a new laptop, let alone a 9 year old one.

But still has the limitations of that era of hardware like Sata2 and USB2, I'm not saying that the Core2 platform is dead, far from it, I'd still recycle a Core2 Quad and tell the users to invest in some PCI-E cards for SATA3 and USB3 providing they have available V2/2x or above slots), but I'd give that machine away for free not charge £300 for it.

But this is a mac and as you said not crippled by windows, think it may have gotten some heat at a much lower price.

They'll probably just tell you it's too old or slow to do whatever it is you're trying to do.

Even so just because they have a helpline doesn't mean it's any good with old old machines like this one.

Personally I wouldn't buy a Dell or HP machine anyway unless it's an ex corporate refurb that can be dismantled easily. Support beyond maybe a bit of warranty isn't really a selling point for me.
This is the 2009 model with the GeForce 9400M. The 2010 model was the last of the plastic MacBooks and had the nVidia 320M. The main problem with these was the rubber covering on the base that got filthy and gradually detached itself. Apple had to set up a repair programme for that.
This will run Sierra and maybe High Sierra but £300 for an eight year old basic model laptop is nuts.

Apple has obsoleted this and the following year's MacBook. Bring it in and you will be sent packing.
