Mfi is dead now I believe. Some reviews saying this stops working after some time. I assume only Apple make ones that seem to actually work?

Anker cables are very good from amazon

Not sure why anyone would wager using a £2 cable surging up to 12 Watts to their £500~£1200 device, MFi certified or not, but heat added anyway.

It's refreshing to see so many negative (I assume honest in this case) "I received this item at a discount in exchange for my honest review" reviews on Amazon.

Also, eQbit are not on the Apple Certification list, although I understand it's an opt-in system, but why a company who's gone through the vetting procedure wouldn't opt-in is a little strange.

Not sure any cable, certified, genuine apple or other will stop or induce surging to your device. The charger is far more critical in this respect.

+1 for anker cables though, all 3 we use still work perfectly.

MFI Certified = $$ back hander for Apple.

It's definitely 100% not dead.

But I'd be absolutely astonished if this was legit, the MFI license itself costs more than this cable and lightning cables are going into their usual September constraint so there's very little legit stock out there that needs to be cleared.

Does "MFI certified" make anyone hate Apple even more? Vile company.

To end world poverty it's estimated to cost $175bn, Apple is projected to be worth $1tn.

Greedy greedy company.

If you choose to make proprietary cabling/other equipment surely it is best to have a certification programme to ensure that consumers know that what they are purchasing is guaranteed to work?

Further, if others want to use your intellectual property (i.e. in this case, the design of the Lightning interface) in order to profit, is it not fair that Apple, as the creator and owner of that IP, should also stand to benefit?

stick with Anker

Mfi will not protect your iPhone from suffering power ic damage.

Can anyone print Apple certified, is there a test for fake Claim?

Nothing wrong with Apple, it is the British born accountants, tax engineers, management consultants and lawyers who made a dream come true.

The figure is actually closer to £10 billion, or dollars, the main thing needed is clean water, and jobs.

Nothing "Orrible" about wanting to end world poverty.....
Besides that would involve changing my name.

This so called "intellectual property" you are referring to was created entirely to earn money from gullible people.

I take you don't care about how "fair" the world is as long as your cable works?

You've described the state of pretty much any and all intellectual property that has ever existed: it is created to appeal to a market in the hope that they will buy it. This applies to music, books, films, etc., as much as it does to tech gadgets (e.g. Lightning cables). The products work as advertised; it's not like Apple is being fraudulent! They clearly advertise the product, what it does, and how much it costs! If people choose to part with their money in that way, then they are free to do so!

I think you just disagree with capitalism generally, which is fine. It's also fine to use Apple as an example of capitalism 'gone mad'. But, let's not forget that the same ethos applies to more or less every single multinational company in existence. How many 'ethical' and 'fair' multinational companies have you come across in this country? Answer: none, because directors' duties, enshrined in legislation, pretty much demand that they manage in this way (it's called shareholder primacy).

I do support capitalism but only to the point where jobs are created and a fair and just profit is made, beyond that is just greed.

You're also missing the point, this technology was created as a deliberate act to crush competition by forcing them to gain certification for anything they manufacture, this is both inflating prices for you the consumer and denying smaller companies a slice of the cake. To then go on and evade tax by such enormous proportions is unethical.

As long as people like yourself continue to support such practices then the world will never change.

Saved me some typing, basically exactly what I meant above.

Has anyone yet found an iPhone cable that is long lasting?

I've tried various ones, after a few weeks/months they either keep disconnecting & connecting over and over or say the cable not recognised thing.

You'd be better off buying a nylon braided type certified MFI' some of the comments on this thread are comedy gold suggesting MFI is finished - utter nonsense.
