***If you do want to sign up the family share plan please read the edited note at the end of this post, it is possible but do need some work on it, family share price would be: 269 p = £3.15 x 1.2 = £3.78, and possibly share by 6 people so it would be 63p each!!!***

**New post as I made some confusing amendments in the previous deal, the price for the Chinese and Indian Apple Music are indeed cheaper (£1 ish), however to redeem the Chinese iTunes code the Chinese iTunes Store required to input a real person detail, which is impossible for us. For the Indian iTunes, I can’t find anywhere to purchase the Indian iTunes code yet, therefore even the Russian Apple Music is a bit more expensive, at least it is possible.**

Hi, I’ve been inspired by the recent YouTube’s / Netflix foreign accounts to save money, therefore I had a look at Apple Music to see if I can do the same trick, apparently we can!

So first of all you better create a new Apple account, if you don’t want your main one get into trouble.

You can use iTunes/ any iOS device or this site to create an account:

appleid.apple.com/account

3015507.jpg

Remember to change the country to Russia at this point, although you can change it later if you forget. Very importantly is payment method stay as none at this stage, to be honest, at all stages.

You can then get to your iOS to login with you new Apple ID in the App Store, very importantly is choose none as payment method! It will also ask you for an Russian address and phone number. Don’t you worry if you don’t know anyone from Russia, as we can just get it from this site:

fakenametool.com/generator/random/ru_RU/russian-federation

3015507.jpg

That’s what you can get, I think they have the address other way round, it appear they have the post code first, then city and so on, so we just have to put the detail in correctly and should be ok.

Now, we need to put some money in the account, for that I found a site that sells Russian iTunes gift card for a reasonable price:

seagm.com/itunes-gift-card-russia

3015507.jpg

Unfortunately this is more expensive than 500p, it would be:

3015507.jpg

but I think it’s the best price I can find so far.

Please note this site charge for processing fee for payment method too, for example:

3015507.jpg

In this instance, a £5.87 worth of gift card will cost £7.09, which is about 1.2 times the face value.

After you purchased that code, you can go back to the App Store to redeem your code:

3015507.jpg

Now, that’s the bit that I’m struggled to get the most of this deal, I wish someone can suggest something better to maximise it. If you want to use iPhone to activate Apple Music, you will get this:

3015507.jpg

I don’t want to mess up my phone so I used iTunes, which you can activate Apple Music free trials:

3015507.jpg

Individual: 169p = £1.98 x 1.2 = £2.38 (actual cost), rather than £9.99 monthly.

If you want to use the family plan, it will ask you to login to iCloud to activate it, which as I don’t want to mess up my phone so I didn’t do it. If anyone have a better solution please let everyone know.

So this trick is mainly for individual account, you can login to your App Store to your new account and enjoy your Apple Music there.

I hope this is not too complicated and please let me know if anyone has any success, thanks!

Alex

So, I have bravely signed out my Apple ID and it didn’t do anything to my phone’s data, that’s a relief.

I have messed about a few hours and finally come up a solution, which I will update the post accordingly later on.

What I discovered is:

1. You need to have a payment method to start a family sharing
2. Your other accounts need to be the same country store to share as a family

The first point was such a pain, however, I reckoned one of the payment method is “mobile phone”, so I chose that, and by using this site (the beauty of internet), you can use that Russian mobile number as your payment method, and you can check on that site for the verification code, mine looks like that:

3015507-QKvLt.jpg

And you can put that number back to your phone and you are set!!

Now, problem two is you can’t share with the UK store, so I think we just need to create more Russian Apple account but not purchasing anything, and invite them all in one family, then these 5 extra accounts will all have Apple Music. Very important is you need to login to that Apple ID in order to join the family.

Nice one OP, I just wish I could be bothered
If you want to keep your current iTunes account and pay £2.66 in the UK. I’ve just setup Apple Music family get 5 friends on + yourself and get them to send you £2.66 a month
I think Donald Trump works as a Russian name?

Can you do ‘family sharing’ for different individuals?

i was looking into this the other day too. But I didn’t get as far as you have. Well done.

i believe apple have allowed family sharing in different countries now.
so it *might* be possible to pay the extra for the Russian family account (leave the Russian account dormant), and then just invite your regular UK account to use the sharing plan? If you get yourself plus 4 others to use it it could be very cheap

Good price if you're tied into Apple music. I trialled it for a while and thought it was terrible. Much preferred Google Play Music and Deezer.

Genuinely interested - why did you think it was 'terrible'? I've used it (on the trial) and thought it was excellent, however, this was the first and only music subscription service I've tried.

Wasn't great at suggesting music I might like based on other stuff I have listened to. Wasn't great with curated playlists. Was harder work to create playlists of stuff I like. Can't swipe left or right to switch tracks. Terrible perhaps is a bit unfair, just found it frustrating to use.

It had pretty much all the music I wanted to listen to, but was less intuitive and didn't offer anything over the other streaming services I'd tried. Google is still the best one in my opinion.

Just a quick question, can you set up family share on iTunes as I can’t find anywhere to set that up, and the only option for an iOS device to set it up is to log out of the Apple ID and login the new one, which my phone telling me all my data will be deleted from the phone;(

Not sure via iTunes??-thinking back- we added it under the Apple ID, family sharing section when prompted as we had selected the free 3 months for family sharing. At no point did I see data will be deleted as I had so many pics to be developed when I took Apple Music out I would’ve literally freaked right there & then. Not sure if any of this is informative to you...

I think if you just use your original Apple ID would be no problem, but if to login to new one my phone asked me to backup everything, so I didn’t proceed. I wish someone here is brave to try this out
If you have already had the 3 month trial ages Ago And now click family sharing do you then get 3 Months free again ?

PayPal will automatically share your real billing address and their system will detect that, it happens to me when I was trying to setup Russian account for google play - around £1.56 per month for Google Music (and you can link up to 5 devices including Android and Apple) is very cheap.
I’m actually seriously considering buying a cheaper used iPhone and use the new Apple ID to get the family sharing sorted....

rover.ebay.com/rov…841
Would try this with the family sharing option but currently share my iCloud through family sharing so would lose that if i tried this

fair amount of messing around so heat added
Right, after reading this Q&A from Apple site I will try to sign out of my Apple ID and hope I can setup the family sharing on the new Apple ID, and then log back in the old account with no issues...... I’ll be back

After setting up Family Sharing with the Russian accounts, can you sign back into your normal iCloud account in iCloud settings, but sign into the "iTunes and App Store" area in settings as the Russian account? (that's the account that the Apple Music app uses, right?)
I don't know if I explained that as well as I could have, sorry.
Thanks.

I think if your main Apple account don’t have any subscriptions, don’t have any money in it, then you should be able to change to the Russian store. Bare in mind you can only be in one family at any one time and to change families once a year.

What I would suggest is, if someone can get other 5 people willing form a “family”, the other 5 can each purchase a 500 p gift card and send that to the family leader, who can add them to the family and the 500 p should last for roughly 11 months.

If you trust each other then you can purchase the 500 p gift card every 11 months and all will happy!
