Apple Music half price student discount - £4.99/month @ Unidays

Found 6th May 2016
The membership tier will be made available starting today to both new and existing subscribers who will be able to either sign up or change their membership from the web or the Apple Music mobile application for iOS and Android.

Discount will be verified through Unidays, but nothing showing on their site at the moment. £9.99 monthly fee reduced to £4.99 for 12 months and you can renew this after 12 months if you're still a student.

Don't expect this to go very hot as most people this site hate Apple AND students haha.

Now live on their site!

Like Apple, but why should students get discounts on everything? Thought they were all hard up paying for their fees, or is that the union bar? ;-)

We're not all permanently drunk
Actually asked about this from Apple a month ago, they said to its been taken into consideration. Glad about this as I was paying £10 but stopped after i couldn't be bothered. Don't mind a fiver as such. Heat
We're an Apple household and we're all students. I'll give you heat.
^^i think there's an apple family one for £15 if i remember correctly, so depending on how many appleites in the house, you could use that and split the costs?

To give people studying for degrees an incentive to spend money. It's as simple as that.

Students aren't 'hard up paying for their fees' - those that obtain a tuition fee loan never actually see the money, it is forwarded directly from SFE to the relevant University.

Also, this is a false deal. As of yet the promotion does not exist, despite being widely reported on in the Apple rumour sites. Chances are it will become available in the UK as of this evening. But, no official announcement as of yet, therefore no deal until such an announcement is made ;).

I actually received an email yesterday but I can't find it in my inbox, not sure where it's gone? Not sure if it's been recalled, or whether I imagined reading it when I first woke up?!
I wonder if the Family bundle will be discounted for students who have families?

I was just about to share that...wouldn't touch Apple music with a bargepole!
It is nice though that us students get discounts sometimes, it's not like we're rolling around in an abundance of disposable income.
Can't find it on unidays maybe I'm just stupid can't work out how to do it! Thanks for this though!!

I tried it for Free for 3 months. It didn't delete a thing after the trail. Only thing that stopped working were the albums I downloaded (via Apple Music, not purchases) during the trial (expected behaviour).

Just for balance because that article isn't the full picture:
imore.com/no-…-it

Apple Music, along with every other streaming service I've tried, is far from perfect and clearly the service received when the issue was raised was poor at best but come on...... we've all lived in this digital world long enough to know you should backup backup backup.

Students get loads of discounts on a wide variety of services and goods. I wouldn't wait for this website to tell you though, there must be a site that can list the majority you are entitled to?
I've been using Google Play Music for quite a few months now. Never had a single problem with it and use it on all my apple devices.....not sure i would trust Apple Music though.

How do you expect a country to prosper without trained Engineers, Doctors , Nurses, Teachers etc. All require a degree.

Life is being made tougher for students year on year, we don't need this stupid 'union bar'
rubbish.
I am a student doing training for a career I couldnt get into without Uni- not to get **** up. Dont tar everyone with the same brush.

haha people using google not trusting apple X)
I have offer Google Play music for £1 for 3 Month . Later £9
Get an offer 6 family members for total £14 14 / 6 = 2.33 £/Month Per user

Maybe they should just exclude people doing art degrees then

Would be so much better if they received tuition free and we as a country recognised the value of having an educated workforce/population. Thanks for nothing Blair.
The majority of students have precious little extra cash and companies such as Apple are desperate to get them hooked on the cool-aid as young as possible.
Anyone know if this will be extended to NUS Extra?
Good deal always thought it odd they didn't offer this

I guess you changed the world then.
good deal of your a student I'm using the free trial on android it seems a bit messy compared to other apps (deezer etc)
Been a Spotify member for well over 5 years now. Use it daily but think £10 per months getting slighly much now. Tried the 3 months free trial with Apple Music and hardly used it because I always thought "Oh I cba, got all my music on Spotify". Still very on the fence about biting the bullet and just cancelling and forcing myself to move over....Anyone else in the same predicament?
would never pay to rent music I'll never own.Pleased i woke up to splashing cash on digital downloads.Greedy apple fleecing customers even more.

They wouldn't allow it. It'd have to be an 100% athletically pleasing, name changing iPole with competitor components charged at massive premiums.
Doez enyone hav a unidays code plz
I use Spotify student at £4.99 and it's great. How does Apple Music compare to Spotify?

I've had Spotify since it came out, so would probably never move to anyone else, I get it half price with their student discount too.

They have little cash because they blast it all on apple tech, river island and a cheeky nando's/domino's
Tried Apple Music for the 3 month trial and did not like the layout.

Currently using Spotify for the over a year and a half and loving it.
Apple Music ruined my itunes collection and playlists when I unsubscribed. Never again!
Why don't they just change there name to Spotify?

All my loan goes to rent and even then I'm short a few hundred quid so have to work which means I don't have any surplus. No one I know really drinks at all - our SU is more expensive than the pubs and it's terrible.

Anyway, this is a well good deal. Wider range than Spotify

Spotify do student discount as well though so it's still only £4.99 a month
