Apple Recycle Program in UK

The link to the recycle site....And don't vote cold if you don't have an Apple product..

apple.com/uk/…er/

I am not sure if this deal is already posted but I heard that Apple was starting a recycle program in UK and checked on HUKD if someone had already posted. Please cancel this post if someone has. Got really intrigued by the O2 refresh offer and wanted to recycle my iphone 4 16gb with O2, they are offering £118 for the phone. And apple is giving £130 for the same phone. Paid £160 for it on eBay 5 months ago, so I think it's best to part with it now and upgrade to Iphone 5 when it becomes available again, or just go for the 4S. I only checked the value of my phone, but they accept everything from other manufacturers mobiles to Apple products including Mac, Nano, Ipod, and obviously Iphone, plus you can expect to get more for the Apple products.

FYI...You can get £225 for the Iphone 4s 16gb

Get value from your old equipment.

With the Reuse and Recycling Programme, you could turn your old equipment into a brand-new Mac, iPod, iPhone or iPad.

Whether it’s an iPhone, iPad, Mac or PC computer, working or not, we’ll take it and determine if it qualifies for reuse and has a monetary value. If it does, the amount will be credited directly into your bank account. If it doesn’t, you can recycle it responsibly through one of our free recycling programmes.

How to get started:

Tell us about your device.
Only iPhone, iPad, and Mac or PC desktop and notebook computers qualify for the Apple Reuse and Recycling Programme.

Get your estimate and ship your device.
The service is provided by Dataserv,

1 who will estimate the fair market value of your device. They will send you a pre-paid shipping label.

2 You can then pack your device carefully and send it for verification.

The amount is sent directly to your bank account.
After entering the relevant information on the Dataserv web portal, the monetary value of your device will be transferred into your bank account and you can use it to purchase a brand-new Mac, iPod, iPhone or iPad.

Not sure why the link is not going directly to the recycle site but you can click on the link below

This should be hotter. Much better value than CEX, and you know its a real deal website.

They give decent prices on the phones. I was offered £225 for my 4S, much better than these random other sites but still a bit less than what you can get if you sell it yourself.

Yeah just checked that price, a great deal if you can combine with O2 refresh offer going on now for Iphone 5 refurb..

Good idea and heated.

I'm gutted that the used iphone prices have dropped so low, so I am voting cold.

What if you have a faulty phone?

Apple screw you both ways these days, time for a Samsung S4 me thinks.

It has some Q&A to value your phone, I don't think it will be really worth the money if it is damaged or faulty..This deal would most likely benefit the ones who are near the end of contract and don't want to deal with the hassle of eBay and Amazon to sell their phone.

For this 'Apple' you actually get something in return

Quoted £85 for my iPad 1, 32GB. The eBay going rate is £150, so a poor deal in my case.

£320 for a Mint iMac 27"? A quick search on ebay completed listings for the same model shows people are paying about £700 for the same thing. Freezing for me

poor price for me , cold

'An don't vote cold if you don't have an apple product.' A sure way to win over the masses.

As others have highlighted, you can obtain better value elsewhere.

Cold from me iPhone 4 16gb black in mint working order £45.50

Seems alright for me - £225 for a 4s that's hardly been used

Cold from me, iPhone 4S black 16gb. Great condition. £78.75

For macbook pros late 2011, highest specs they offer £360 .. That is poor

koski316

Cold from me, iPhone 4S black 16gb. Great condition. £78.75

I wonder why it is so.. I just checked it mine same black 4s 16g with smashed glass 176£.. it's alright I guess

cold from me £10.50 for a 3gs in great condition

trouble is on eBay u have to deal with numptys who often don't pay, claim its lost in the post, try to scam u, claim its broke etc

If u sell on ebay ensure u take a picture of the imei number and send it the seller, heard numerous times people claiming items are broke sending there own broken item as a replacement and getting a refund.. Always ensure imeis match

*bay is becoming nuts day by day.. i have read several articles from sellers where they get scammed by buyers often returning empty packages back

This is ice cold

Fonebank who I have used before and know don't deduct from the estimated payout due to imaginary scratches, will pay me £25 more for an iPad 2 64gb

Stupid deal

You would have to be stupid to sell to these, my iMac is quoted at £600, i would consider it a steal at the double £1200.

How is this a "deal"?

Maybe a heads up....

£235 for iphone 4s 32GB. Only £10 more than a 16GB?! Crap

BUT....

Only £214 from Fonebank.

Isn't that great, my 4s practically new looking condition was quoted for £245 when the going rate on ebay is £300

Apple aren't silly.. Massively overcharging, then massively underpaying for them to be returned. Sums them up.

As others mentioned eBay has its risk, this move by Apple was mainly to target the customers with iPhone as publicised all over the internet. To gain the market hold again this is the best way to retain their customers, by far Apple is the only one providing the best value for old iphones(Don't compare eBay and Amazon). The fees of Ebay is around 10-12% plus shipping cost, and Paypal fees, all this adds up to about £40 in fees, and you have to keep your fingers crossed and hope that the buyer is not a scam artist. Then all your £300 goes down the drain.
