I’ve been into the Apple store in Exeter. This IS live in the UK, it’s just not officially publicised. It takes under an hour to do, costs £25 and they don’t query your reasons, they just get on with it.
Got my battery changed on iPhone 6 and I can confirm it’s made zero difference to my phone still barely lasts a day
This is definitely live
When is optimal time to get this done? I don’t know how long the lifecycle of an iPhone battery is, mine’s only a year and a half old and I’m just starting to notice it low on battery before the day’s out..

Take it in for a free battery diagnostic. They will tell you what percentage of the battery’s capacity it is now at. My 6s was running at 81% of its original capacity so I got it changed for £25. My dad checked his 5c out of interest and that was running at 92% despite being few years older.

Just download ‘Lirum Info Lite’ app it’s free in the App Store and the battery diagnostic shows your battery status.

My iPhone 6s Plus battery originally held 2750mAh but now only holds a max charge of 2200mAh about 80% - but don’t forget any battery deteriorates over time, Your mileage may vary.

I agree. My daughter's 5S needed a new battery this week so I found this guy on Ebay who is doing it for somewhat less than his headline price £14.25 (make him an offer!) ebay.co.uk/itm…649

You get a new battery, the old one goes in the bin, then 1st class recorded post mobile returned, 24 hr turnaround usually, seems to have excellent reputation given a couple of moaners (99.1%)

will let you know what it's like hopefully tomorrow!

Make sure it’s an Apple battery. I’ve used batteries from eBay before, they weren’t apple and could definitely tell the difference - lasts about 5 mins lol

90 day warranty, not sure what he'd do if he chucks the old battery in the bin! (so he says)

I'm sure in reality he keeps the best of the old Apple batteries and in case of complaint refits somebody else's discard, that's what I'd do

Thanks I got that app, showed my battery is now 1500mAh instead of it’s original 1624. I’m not good enough at maths to work that out as a percentage but it doesn’t seem too bad
Just be saying be kind COLD

I'd guess when Apple throttle performance and make your handset unusable

Divide the original number by 100. Then divide the real number by the sum. 1624/100=16.24
1500/16.24= 92.36%

The favour to 'loyal customers' is well publicised. Its the record class actions on Apple hiding the obsolescence making defect, 50 such actions in the US alone, that is not getting a lot of notice.

The new 2 part small battery in the new iPhone X also looks interesting. I do wonder how that one pans out long term.

Well Ive got 2 iPhone 6s and had the batteries changed 3 weeks ago at Apple trinity leeds for free as they were identified as being faulty and it’s made a big difference. Before I would have 100% battery take 10 pics and be left with 10%. They were doing replacements for £25 for the people who didn’t qualify for the free one so this has been live for a few weeks now.

Actually it does exist. Me and my wife have been accepted by Apple under the scheme on 12/01/18 for a replacement battery and awaiting an appointment at my local Apple Store circa 02/02/18. You speak to the help line, they accept a download from your phone which measures the battery performance (takes several minutes) and then agree to the replacement.

It's not a bad result after a year and a half but it's only the silver medal for you tonight I'm afraid. Either I've got a battery that improves with age (just like me ) or that app isn't the most accurate one for benchmarking batteries. No way I'm replacing this one in my humble iPhone SE that's sitting with 104% battery health atm. How could they possibly supply me with a better one

No wonder it only holds charge for two hours..
33145090-MZirn.jpgThis Is my batt on a year old iPhone 7 which I take it is pretty good to only have lost 60mAh over a year.

You'll be able to opt out of the throttling in the next iOS update due soon !

Maybe give it a few days to charge and discharge? The battery likely needs to calibrate.
What about ipad?
Should be free for all affected users.

That funny because I got my battery replaced for £25 over a week a go.

It IS live in the UK.
Got my iPhone 6 battery replaced by Apple in December and had to fork out £79. When I heard this news I rang Apple who then refunded me the difference £54 excellent customer service. I gave my iPhone 6 to my dad which is now fast as ever (but I did also do a factory reset) and now I have an iPhone X
