Its Apple so cold for being overpriced

Its Apple so cold for being a locked down OS

Its iOS so not a real OS like Windows 8 or Apple Mac software.

However voted hot on price as that is a deal when compared to the inflated RRP.
Thanks for the Heat rrope;)
Best price I've seen for the Ipad Air 16gb is Hush Hush £305 and Spencermann/Play £329 less Halifax/Lloyds £30 cashback + Quidco/TCB.

It was posted from HUSH HUSH and found not to be a trust worthy site as you can see if put in ipad air by Hush Hush, and Spencermann is coming in at £384 so not cheaper than the one posted

Some Airs are having a memory issue,so beware, and there is no fix at present.

It really isn't overpriced at the deal price (£349)! It's a subjective question of what you actually want. I love my Nexus 7, but I love my iPad 2 just as much. To be honest, I'd much rather have the stability and not-perfect-but-better-than-Android security than an 'open OS', not entirely sure what you mean by 'locked down' anyway, if you're after that kind of thing then just jailbreak it? iOS wasn't made to be open. As for the architecture, it's a portable tablet...it's not a laptop or Surface Pro (which is heaps more expensive). Can you imagine full-blown desktop apps like Dreamweaver on this? Imagine multi-sheet Excel models? Makes my eyes hurt just thinking of it. iPad was never marketed as a desktop replacement.

It is overpriced, between 28 and 46 % pure profit....

So yeh a rip off on RRP.

Funny, I'm using it and its as good as 7 once you get past the start screen.

So the manufacturing costs are cheaper with the Air than with previous models but they use the same pricing plan...I agree with you that it's a bit sly but I suppose they don't want to show a precedent of price reductions - gotta please the insatiable appetite of the shareholders... (_;)

For what it's worth I'm still not convinced that iPad is £200 better than the new Nexus 7, but they're difficult to compare since they're so different. Like comparing Apples and...well, you know.

Apple are stating its a software problem, and their engineers are working on it. That I believe when I see it, it is not a problem with other Gens of iPad though. I have had 2 Airs and they both have the same problem, I presume there are owners out there which do not have the problem though....

Probably about the right profit margin for a manufactured good. Whats your point?

Windows 8 is not a proper OS

Sorry to read into your jokey comment too deeply but Windows 8 is just as much a 'proper' OS as Windows 7. In fact, the traditional UI (I'm assuming the daft Metro UI is your grounds for not considering 8 to be a 'proper OS') can easily be returned to, in fact it's built in as an option.

Microsoft had to do something to make Windows more suited for Surface Pro and AIO touchscreen PCs - let's be honest they're what Joe Bloggs is buying now - but they've not ditched traditional users one bit!

hmm my mini 2 has been great but the browser has crashed a few times which my ipad 3 never did. Maybe it's the same thing? Either way it's not that often and I'm sure it will be ironed out in an update

You obviously don't know much about profit margins, 10% is a big one and nearer 5% or less more common.

With the profit on ipads you can see where Apple get their massive profits from.
Nope fella, you are wrong. Average retail electronics gross profit margin (which is what you are comparing) is around 31%
NET profit margin runs at around the figures you are stating. But the article you links to isnt talking about NET, its talking about GROSS - i.e. cost of components. In fact, its even less than that gross, as the article isnt including cost of manufacture, just cost of components.

Somebody tell me what cold means?

I'm seeing more and more of this stuff like: Potatoes for 50p is considered cold because onions are 30p. I want pototoes not onions so I don't care if onions are cheaper or if potatoes are overpriced for what they are or if potatoes are harder to peel than onions. If I want potatoes then I want the best price on pototoes and when I find that price then that deal is hot.

So if I want an iPad Air 16GB, then the hot deal is the cheapest place to get an iPad Air 16GB.
I don't care if people consider it overpriced, or if some people don't like it or if some people think that 16GB shouldn't exist or if somebody thinks its not a proper OS, I just Want the best price for the iPad Air 16GB.

iPad Air 16GB is £399 on Apple site, so £349 must be hot surely? £50 saved to spend on beer.

Keep your onions, peel them and cry.

1. Overpriced hmm, the build quality/ design and processing power negate that comment
2. Yes it's locked down and lack of connectivity is an issue.
3. Android, Windows WP8/RT and Blackberry OS all get your cold vote then. Why do you need a full OS on a tablet form factor? Windows 8 is the best full OS on a tablet if you require a full OS.
4. You're not impartial having an anti Apple bias. My personal opinion and I don't own any Apple products but have sold plenty, is that Apple tablets give the best user experience generally. Apps are optimised to work and many many Android apps which let's be honest is the main tablet OS competitor are just not optimised to work on tablets.

I'd define it as a moderate update, the update in question is currently known as Update 1 and available next month. Current reviews are not favourable of update 1 so far. The 8.1 update was a decent update, update 1 is a "ok we screwed up with Windows 8 and even though 8.1 is half decent, we know need to try and satisfy the desktop users and give too many options and too many ways of doing things and making a right mess of the OS"

I cite this article as a current example of how Microsoft is running clueless >

If people are going to compare build costs then have a look at cars, Everyone would be seen as being ripped off.

It's the products, support guarantees and warranty that help to bump the prices up.

This price is good but I would only buy from apple myself as if you have any issues with this product I don't think the seller is going to be helpful if you can even get in contact with them. Rather pay £50 more and get from apple and have a guarantee worth something.
This is a good deal.

I have seen the offer below which is cheaper but I have not bothered listing it as some of the reviews for Simply Electronics aren't great.

But it's the same Ipad Air (with colour choice) delivered for £325.

http://www.****/mainproduct.php?pid=23408&setcurrency=gbp&gclid=CI-jqMDB7rwCFaJ02wodfhwAKg
can I have direct link plz. I'm confused as their are more sellers selling new at a cheaper price
No idea what happened there - it should be:

http://www.****/mainproduct.php?pid=23408&setcurrency=gbp&gclid=CMHvz7Kg7rwCFcZf2wodElcA8Q

My only reservation (and reason I haven't listed it as a deal) is due to some of the feedback they have received and I wasn't able to fully work out if a UK based despatch.
For some reason it's blocking it on HUKD.

If you google Apple Ipad Air 16gb it is one of the first adverts that comes up at the top

How dare a company make a profit on something they make and sell!!

I wonder if that price just looks at costs of the parts, or if it takes into account the full running costs of the business? Some analyst firm backwards engineering a product and looking at individual parts cannot possibly come up with a realistic "cost" for an individual item as they will not have any of the running costs data for the business itself.

I imagine Apple make 10% max per item, the reason they make so much money is app sales and volume.
