Apple Time Capsule 500GB £99.99 + Free Delivery @ Solutions-inc

Wow! An Apple Time Capsule with 500GB hard drive for £99.99 including VAT and delivery! The Time Capsule is an Apple router which will create an 802.11b, 802.11g and/or 802.11n wireless network. It contains a 500GB hard drive which is ideal to backup a laptop because the drive can be seen on your wireless network. The router also has a USB socket which can be used to connect another hard drive or a printer or even a USB hub to which you might attach several devices.

Be aware that this is a router and will not by itself connect to an ADSL broadband provider. It needs to be connected to an ADSL router or modem, or a cable modem.

This price is an absolute bargain - the current 500GB model is £229. It is an older model, but lacks only a couple of extra features such as allowing you to run two separate wireless networks (g and n, for example), but if you are connecting it to an ADSL router, your current router can do the g network and the Time Capsule can do the n network, so the end result is effectively the same.

Hi
Thanks for posting. I have added an image to your post, and added "£99.99 + Free Delivery @ Solutions-inc" to the title.
This is a link, made by rayman, which explains how to add images in great detail. It’s worth taking a look at if you are going to post more deals in future : - hotukdeals.com/ite…hr/
Or follow the link in my signature.
Kind regards
Andy

I got these in the jigsaw24 deal - 102 plus 4.95 postage .. BUT you cannot access them via the web from a PC apparently

If anyone knows otherwise please let me know as I am going to sell mine. Also bought a 49.95 Ebuyer Linkstation Live 320 which you can and is pretty neat.

:?

This is a great price though from OP :-)

This is brilliant!

Thanks for heads up!

Cracking deal !

so this is basically a wireless N router and Network Drive in One? can it be used in a windows network for storing media files so I can watch them on my laptop?

An apple deal which isn't overpriced? Got to be hot

Ooh, a bit cheaper than the Jigsaw24 deal the other day... which I went for!! Nevermind, only a few quid different and very much worth it

This is an amazing price! I already have an external HDD running Time Machine, but for £99.. worth a punt!

So anyone who has bought one - Can you access via Web through Windows or not ?

The web says not but I don't want to start using if you can't?

Thanks
J

Pretty sure the remote access to the disk requires Apple's 'Mobile Me' service. Although I could be wrong?

WOW! Superb deal. Thanks for posting!

Has anyone used these guys? SSL certificate on the checkout has problems.

Just completed checkout - doesn't seem very safe.

anyone used these before?

Yeah I thought the same but looked online and they are listed in the guardians education sector as an apple reseller and the address all checks out etc.

Is this just a wireless router (not even with a modem) and a 500gb NAS? I'm not going to vote cold because I guess this is what Apple fans would believe to be a "bargain", but it's hardly a good deal when compared to buying the things separately (and if you do buy separately, when the HDD dies you won't have to chuck out the router).

As far as I can remember, you can only access these with the bundled Airport Utility programme. There should be disk containing Windows and Mac versions.

I'd be interested to know which draft of 802.11n this uses.
As it's an old model, I wouldn't rely on it being compatible with 802.11n gear from other manufacturers.

Yes, it is a N router able to operate on 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands with Gigabit ethernet and an inbuilt (and upgradable) hard drive. The value is with the tight integration with Apple's Time Machine backup programme. Additionally, it has a usb port which will work with a usb hub on which you can hook up other hard drives and printers and network those, too.

At £100 you would be pushed to find better for less IMHO. I bought the plain Airport Extreme router before Time Capsule came out and there was nothing of equivalent value around in the market then. Not everything Apple does is a ripoff.

its integrated so better for this use, plus it works iwth time machine so your mac takes a delta every 20 mins or so and so you never lose anything. i have my imac and macbook using this and its amazing. hot deal

You can download the windows software, but it requires an annual membership - I think. Anyone confirm who has Windows logging in remotely and the Apple Time Capsule that you can remotely view your files and it is free ?
:?
I don't think you can with Windows Airport Utility.

ewwww

I guess its formatted to HFS+ so in order to use it in windows I need to format it to Fat32?

If its sold for Windows and Mac it may be FAT32 already otherwise its fairly simple formatting for any file system these days.

Excellent price! It goes for £229 on the Apple store.

that's the new model with Dual Band

Seems like a good deal - I know it can be used with Windows but I understand you can't do automatic backups like you can with the Leopard software - does anyone know about this?

I am looking for a new router to replace my old Linksys WRT54G and the added hard drive seems like a bonus.

It will be HFS+ but that doesnt matter to PC users as they can still access the files absolutely fine via the network in the same way that most, if not all other NAS's are formatted EXT3 as they are linux based.

Hiya

Does anyone know if this can be used as a replacement for an Airport Express for use with apple's iPhone Remote App? I currently have an Airport Express but would love to sell it and use this instead so I don't have to keep my computer on to listen to music.

Any info much appreciated!

Andy

Mine will be used in addition to my WRT54GS, I'll retain that for G devices and use this for the N ones.

Unfortunately not, it doesn't support airtunes...

Just ordered one, well worth a go even if it just makes backing up easy + you can access from any laptop in the house, many thanks

Is there a piece of kit that combines the Time Capsule with ADSL/Modem in one box, that would be perfect?

thanks

Easiest way is a separate ADSL modem, there isn't one with it built-in sadly. Bargain though, will be ordering on my lunch break when I've mulled it over.

Wonder how long this offer will be going for...I want one but I need to wait until net week

The last sold out in

Thank you very much!

Not happy with the sites security so I ordered the next cheapest item that was useful to me (iPod Nano case £9.99) so the order is now covered by section 75 credit card security, as it is over £100.

Cheers

Seems to have gone now!

Gone - Not on the site any more !
