I asked them on the chat and they confirmed it was a 2nd gen.

It's best offer available to a opportunity I get it cheaper as they usually accepted decent offers.

Seems a bit high, considering you can get a 3rd gen from Argos for £55 at the moment.

Isn't Xbmc not
Supported now

2nd gen models can be jailbroken whereas the 3rd gen ones can't be

V15 of Kodi not supported on Apple TV 2. Not to say someone won't make it happen though. End of life coming for this now. Some people made a fair few quid on these over the years

one available

Even CeX have lowered prices on these to £90. A year ago you'd have got double that on fleabay

Expensive way to go if all you want is xbmc get an android box for half the price

Whats the best device to use nowadays for Kodi?

Ah Ok, so there's reasoning behind the madness ... What can it do more when jailbroken? I'm not familiar with these.

I've read the Amazon Fire Hd TV box is great with Kodi

Apple tv version 1and 2 has had its day now, newer better products on the market to root now

Amazon Fire TV

Or a Raspberry PI2 for around £30 pls SD card and Charger. Nice thing about using the RPI2 with Openelec for KODI is the HDMI-CEC support means you can use your own TV remote to control it.

Fire stick is a little sluggish you can buy a quid core, 1gb ram, 8gb rom MX box or similar for around £40 that is every bit as good as the amazon fire TV without all the added amazon prime rubbish

I've had all the apple tv box's and they are rubbish, I now have the Amazon fire tv box and it runs circles around apple tv, the airplay from my apple devices to the amazon tv box is smooth and a pleasure to use unlike apple. My advice is get the amazon tv box it's fantastic.

Totally agree, if you have Apple devices then AirPlay to an Apple TV is awesome, both from my iPhone and MacBook. If you don't have Apple devices then I can't see the Apple TV having much appeal.

What are you using for Airplay on the Amazon TV Box?
I assume it would also work for Amazon Fire Stick too.

The only thing that has stopped me going for Amazon Box/Stick is not knowing if Airplay/mirroring would work smoothly.

Yeah, does the amazon fire stick support airplay . Biggest feature I use on the apple gen 3 I have.

Old hat

Not really though is it. A quad core micro PC that will run desktop, server or even appliance OS's for under £30 is far from old hat...

What are you on about? old hat means it's nothing new, most have done it. You stating quad core micro PCs etc is too. Buying these boxes and setting them up isn't anything special. You make it sound like it's soldering chips to a board.

Not at all....I'm saying that the RPI2 is a decently priced and flexible platform and was simply suggesting it as an alternative to a Fire stick for someone who wants to run KODI
