Lowest ever on Amazon. Probably price matching the Argos (mobile app) deal.

Same price as refurbished at the Apple store.

Is there a new Apple TV coming out?

Still this Is a good deal!

Traded in my PS3 for one of these, haven't looked back. Defo worth a punt at this price.

I'm so tempted....

can these be jailbroken and installed with XBMC/Kodi?

No

At risk of sounding completely daft, does one need an apple device to run Apple TV? I am considering Apple TV along with Chrome and any other wireless streamed services to our bedroom (where we have no ariel point).

These are great and you can mirror xbmc full screen to them with a jailbroken iphone/ipad. I have mine set to the US region and use unodns with it. If you know what you're doing you could sign up for Hulu and HBO Now if you wanted to. I found someone willing to let me use their xfinity log in for a small fee so can airplay all their channels to it, use HBO go, showtime, abc etc and can airplay the footy from NBC!!

I really only ever use mine for watching Netflix so recently got the Amazon Fire Stick which is more versatile in my opinion.

Likely to be a new one announced at WWDC, still tempting at this price however.

Nope, the Apple TV is a completely stand-alone product, no other Apple devices required

It can be used as a fully stand alone device but I find it's much more useful used along with other products (doesn't need to be specifically Apple). I have a Mac Mini which is my always on machine in the house with iTunes running so I can stream TV programmes or films stored in iTunes directly to it (or to either of the iPhones in the house too).

If you want kodi why not get a Raspberry Pi....

Or better yet, an Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Fire TV is the reason for the main drop in price I reckon. My poor ATV2 jailbroken devices collect dust in the spare rooms for guest. Once selling at over £150 on fleabay, you can grab them for £90 or less. ATV3 has very little value. I am no apple hater as i have a lot of apple products. But for entertainment they are falling behind fast.

Which is better Amazon or Argos who has got better customer service who shall I order from if something is wrong and stops working is there any warranty

There will be a warranty, I'd buy off Argos, after 12 months you can just take it to apple store

Amazon tend to have excellent customer service in my experience.
I've never dealt with Argos customer services however (haven't purchased anything from one in years).

Warranty will be 1 year with Apple as standard no matter which you buy it from.

Think an amlogic S812-based box offers the ultimate price/performance ratio at the moment, inc 4k, x265 & kodi support. Start from around £57 fulfilled by Amazon, example: amazon.co.uk/Aml…LE/

My Amazon stick cost me £19 for being an Amazon Prime member, that's a third of the price of that box, surely you can't beat Amazon!

Your Amazon stick won't even look at 4k, and it will fail miserably at x265 (now an essential, especially for streaming on marginal networks). The £57 s812 suggestion was in the context of potentially best price/performance ratio ATM (and near-comparable to OP cost), not the cheapest item that might be able to deliver a moving image to a screen.

Got mine for £9.01 after using an old gift card.
Downgraded moviebox to 3.2.1 to allow airplay, just watched breaking bad finally.
The only annoyance would be if the next ATV turns out to be a stick.

Same as Argos

Is the downgrade necessary for ATV3 to work with airplay and movie box from an iPad source?
