Apple TV 4K 32GB - £164.59 this weekend @ BT Shop

BT Shop have 10% off certain products this weekend when you use the code WEEKEND10 - including the Apple TV 4K 32GB.

The Apple TV 4K 32GB is £179, making it £161.10 (+ £3.49 postage) after discount.

I know people are divided over Apple products, but in my opinion the Apple TV 4K is great value given the cheapness of digital 4K films on iTunes compared to 4K discs.

Films previously bought in HD on iTunes are also automatically upgraded to 4K when the 4K versions become available.

You can also use other streaming apps such as Netlix, and it doubles as a games console (albeit a limited one).

I’m an Apple fanboy but can’t see how anyone would want one of these at such as a high price but so limited with what it offers when compared to other devices on the market at less than half the price.
Ok if you’ve bought a bunch of Apple movies but for this price it’s a no from me Len.

I’ve got one and it’s great for me, links well with my US iTunes account and get 4K free upgrade on films.
No one else has the range of 4K UHD films that you can get through iTunes on this device - at NO extra change over the HD versions!

If you view it as about the same cost as ~8 UHD BluRays (not counting the £200+ UHD BluRay player cost!!!) it is very good value

Plus it does AirPlay and iCloud photo display

For me, this is the best TV streaming device. It runs 4k content from amazon and netflix too. I won't buy one personally, as I build my own streaming boxes, but in terms of 4k content available, I believe it beats all the competition hands down.
Cold it’s only £135 right now on eglobal.
Great price. Picked up a 64gb for 185 from Very 10% off code.

Only good if you actually receive the Apple TV you order from them
You can get a 4k blu ray player for much less and rent 4k discs from Cinema Paradiso. But i would go for this if it was half the price. I like Apply but they are greedy fukers.
Missing Dolby Atmos, something I want.
There still is no perfect one - apple does Dolby vision but not atmos or truehd, there’s hardly a player for discs that does DV but the bitrate is much better on disc. But then apples stream is apparently decent for the 16mbps that it’s using. Anyway 165 is cheaper than the 550 an Oppo would cost you I guess

Apparently it will be introduced in a software update, however no date been given

Although 4K blu ray players can be bought for cheaper, the current situation is that not all films available digitally are even available on disc in 4K (for example home alone and mrs doubtfire, I bought very cheap and not available on uhd discs) however this may change and be released on disc in the future. But I suppose the opposite may happen for some films which may get a disc release and no digital version but I see this being unlikely. Its ideal to have both platforms imo as apple now support amazon video too who also fo uhd downloads and rent/buy from the cheapest store.

Apple TV 4K or Nvidia Shield TV? I’m really torn on which one to get, I would purely be using it for watching TV and general catchup, anyone have either of the two and could give me an insight into their pros and cons? Much appreciated

Dont really know anything about the Nvidia shield but I would say that apple tv would appeal to anyone who buys or rents films/tv shows via iTunes as you can only view on apple devices or PC. Can you get iTunes on the shield? And can it playback 4K?
Apple confirmed atmos support coming great device good range of 4K and searchable content across providers using Siri

Depends what you want to do with it. I have an Nvidia shield TV but thinking about getting an ATV 4k because I want to build a digital library of 4k (and preferably DV) movies and Google Play Movies is an absolute horror show, content wise. I'm actually getting irritated by how long it is taking them to release a good number of movies in 4k hdr/dv. USA has a lot more choice but still not as much as iTunes.

That being said, I do like the shield, particularly the ability to emulate old games.
