Looks like BT have found some more of these under the sofa!!

If these are like last time the condition is a bit of a lottery. Some are basically like new, others had big scratches.

Sounds from the previous comments like some people managed to persuade apple to give 12 months AppleTV+ as well. I don't think you can count on it though.

Seems like a good price.

Comes with 2m HDMI and 1m Juice Lightning Charger as well.

Given I will put this behind the TV I am hoping the grade B won't be a problem - unless its the remote!

4K HDR

Experience the splendour and magic of cinema in crisper and clearer details with Apple TV 4K.

With four times more pixels than standard HD, 4K renders images on your screen with lifelike detail. Supporting high-dynamic range video and Dolby Vision, you can enjoy brighter and deeper colour contrasts and be naturally immersed in the latest films, documentaries and more.

Access content from over 60 video services

Gain access to an endless selection of 4K HDR titles.

With the Apple TV App no content is out of your reach. Access the hottest films and shows quicker from Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and much more without ever switching apps.

In addition to your Apple TV, the Apple TV app is available on your iPad and iPhone so that you can watch the same content on different devices at any time.

Functions such as Watch Now offer watching recommendations and let you pick up shows where you left of.

Renting your most anticipated 4K titles costs the same as standard high-definition titles and everything you purchase from iTunes, along with your current rentals is added to your Apple TV app library. All the HD titles in your library are automatically updated free of charge when a 4K HDR version is available.

Stay up to date

Stay on top of the live programming you appreciate most directly on the Apple TV. Keep on top of unfolding news and world events, and stay ahead of your favourite sports updates - receive notifications for the latest scores and live actions and make informed choices on what games to watch and when. Apple TV gives you more access to local TV services so that you can stay informed about events that matter most to you.

Siri

However you choose to navigate, Siri makes it easy to search and interact with your TV content for a seamless experience.

Simply press the Siri button on the remote and say what you want to watch; be it a specific film, series, genre, or actor. Siri searches all apps, so if you're looking for a specific programme that's available to watch in Netflix, you'll find it without having to open the app.

If you'd rather browse, the new glass Touch surface on the Siri remote gives you intuitive and fluid control over menus and options without the need to look at the remote or hunt for buttons.

A10X Fusion chip

Lose yourself in an expanded choice of games thanks to the A10X Fusion chip, a more powerful platform for greater, more interactive games and apps. Simply browse the App Store for your favourite selections, including the award-winning Sky, which lets you wonder through a mysterious theme park with the people you love.

AirPlay

The APPLE TV 4K makes sharing photos, presentations, websites, and music effortless and fun. Through AirPlay, you can share content wirelessly from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and save your favourite images to view in 4 K.

I own one of these but i also own/owned the Samsung Q90r which has the Apple TV app built in and also Airplay and the LG B9 and LG C9 OLED's that have Airplay 2 built in.

Whilst it is good that some TV's allow you to watch Apple content with the app or airplay, neither compare to the actual 4K Apple TV box.

For me using the box is a lot slicker to use, example is that navigating the menus is nicer, this is due to the fact that the box uses the processor from an ipad pro.Fast forwarding and reminding is almost instant, where on the TV's it is so much slower. You are also able to use siri to navigate around,so you could say to play Terminator 2 and it would just fire it up and then tell it to skip forward 10 minutes.

Another advantage with the Box is that if you have loads of videos and pictures stored with Apple then you can watch them all back on the Apple TV, to be fair it works really well and is a great way to watch your home videos.Just like on the iPhone and iPad it will create stories out of your photos and videos which are always nice to watch on a big screen with family.

Another advantage of the box is that it will play all of the various formats/resolutions without issue, such as 4K,HDR, Dolby Vision,Dolby Atmos and so on.The apps and airplay have in my experience been a bit glitchy in that department and it can often be hit and miss to what will work.

Example of this is that the LG and Samsung have both had issues playing back the new Apple TV+ shows in 4K HDR and will sometimes only play back in regular HD.

Apple TV has the worst remote. Very small and delicate , only pairs with one remote at a time . I bought Apple TV for free Apple TV subscription but now regretting due to remote problems . The way you cannot use second physical remote due to pairing makes it very difficult to use of remote lost in kids toys etc . Also very small and delicate so no good if you have small kids . Xbox / nvidia shield all let you use as many remotes as you like but not Apple TV . I have changed remotes several times so advantage of free Apple TV subscription even went away .

Had one of these for the last 12 months, the cheap deals on 4K films via CheapCharts made me make the transition to all digital and abandon BitTorrent downloads.

Not completely true. Unlike many other manufacturers, Apple's main SOC is designed in house. It is then of course fabricated by a specialist company, usually TSMC or Samsung. So although they don't "make" the chip it is still their SOC.

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with the price of these as they’re starting to included Apple TV in some smart TVs.

Heat from me for this though especially now they have BT Sport on them!

The Apple TV app only gives you access to their TV shows though. The people that buy these yokes usually buy them for TV shows, music, and accessing other stuff in the Apple Cloud like their photo collection and stuff.

According to Google Apple music is available on Amazon Alexa and TV devices. When I get home I'll check my firesticks.

I only bought it as it was ideal for wall a mounted TV so bought for the Kitchen it's even powered from the USB on the TV, I was so impressed I went and bought another 3. They were only £39.99 at the time for 4k ones so I got four for the price of a new Apple TV, plus there are no cables for wall mounted TVs.
You cant watch apple bought itunes movies on any other apple tv app other than the tv itself?

I’ve tried Apple Music with Alexa and didn’t have fun. Not a fan of voice controls.

You can watch from the app available on the Amazon Fire stick 4K. Have been using this recently. All your movies are accessible
Valid points about fire stick but Apple TV is just so much more refined. I just wish sky go was on it too then could just have one device to rule them all (don't really use Xbox since had a kid and got a hd home run for live TV) YouTube 4K via TV.

Wow. What about oled tvs? They now support the same? Ive got the b8 version
Hmmm, probably the cheapest way of running a home hub for home automation too.

I have the app on my roku premiere

The Apple 4K TV box has a better user interface than the Amazon 4K TV stick. Plus it plays back in Dolby Vision and has Dolby Atmos sound processing. I have both.

Can’t answer that one - don’t know the difference between oled & non-oled . I use it on a Samsung 3D tv (in bedroom) I’ve had over 6 years. I’m sure someone more tech savvy will be able to answer.

Do you have an iPhone? Can control via your phone easier than the remote
I got one for Xmas as wanted more 4K content for my LG Oled, amazing interface and dolby vision etc is fantastic, great getting apple TV + for free for a year (but very little content so far) but the remote is horrible.
I am android/Google exclusively for everything my nightmare memories of iTunes when I had my first gen ipod mini came rushing back when I had to set up iTunes accounts etc.
The service is very well presented and excellent that "most" of its content is 4K but I keep having to check myself every time I contemplate spending £8.99 on an older film like The Goonies, or John Wick 3 when they are readily available on streaming services for no extra cost.
Perhaps a 4K streaming service akin to Netflix where movies were included alongside their own original content would be a more appealing draw?

Or just use your tv remote, that’s what I do. Don’t have to get up, just press AV button to go on the selected HDMI and boom it switches on and my Sony remote controls it
The other good thing about the Apple TV box is it can access all your files from your iMac or MacBook. A little like a plex server but without having to use plex. Films, photos, music, home videos, the lot

Bought this to replace the standard non-4K in the bedroom, will sell the old one so the upgrade is only £40 or so!

The app may be available elsewhere but the rest of the experience is far superior from my experience. I use this for the TV app, Netflix as well as catchup of iPlayer etc and the stability in software, speed of UI and reliability will keep me paying the premium.

Airplay 2 with two of these, the HomePod I got for £150 from Argos eBay and an ikea speaker makes for a great housewide audio setup!

Thanks OP, great deal!

One way around it is to have a Harmony remote. I don't need multiple remotes but I found that both remotes do work at the same time. The Apple remote is elegant in style and usage so I didn't want to use the Harmony but I have multiple devices so the convenience of a single remote controlling 5 separate devices won. The Harmony can sometimes be annoying sometimes but when it works it's just too useful.

Anyway an excellent price for an excellent device.

Can you not use your TV remote as my Samsung tv can turn it on and control it?

I know what you mean about the remote as it is small but not delicate. You can get a cover for it that makes it a bit bigger and stops it getting lost as easily.
If I have a Firestick would there be any need for an Apple TV?

To be fair that happened recently with the ATV box as well so it might have been the same thing. But in general the UI for ATV is second to none. iTunes has been a revelation for me. I am a physical media guy, but I've now replaced about 30% of my discs with streams. For films where I don't need the best video/audio quality (and occasionally for some I do) I now buy the streams.
