Apple TV is a tiny entertainment powerhouse that plays the content you love from iTunes, Netflix, YouTube, and your favorite sports leagues on your widescreen TV. In up to 1080p HD. Just plug it in and discover a whole world of movies, TV shows, photos, music, and more. You're gonna need a better couch.
Apple TV gives you anytime access to endless entertainment. Thousands of HD movies and TV shows from iTunes - many in stunning 1080p - play through Apple TV on your HDTV, and music and photos stream from your computer. You just click and watch. With AirPlay, it's simple to play content from your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on your TV.1 And the Apple TV interface makes it easy to find whatever you're in the mood for.
Quiet, energy efficient, and so small it fits in the palm of your hand, Apple TV sits neatly on a TV stand or in a crowded media cabinet. When it's not filling your living room with drama, romance, and comedy, it uses less power than a night-light. And the included Apple Remote makes it easy to get to your favorite entertainment.
Setting up Apple TV takes almost no time at all. Just plug the power cord into the wall and connect Apple TV to your widescreen TV using an HDMI cable (sold separately). Since everything streams wirelessly to Apple TV using your Wi-Fi network, that's all you need. Except for the popcorn.

Voted hot, good find and sounds like a bargain
Haha, thanks - fixed.
They are 3rd Gen, however.......
MD199LL/A appears to be a US Model
MD199HK/A appears to be a Hong Kong Model
MD199B/A is the UK model.
As this is for MD199HK/A are there any potential warranty issues?
For me it only has one use - AirPlay Mirroring of iOS devices. I didn't use this much and packed my 2nd gen away for a while. Was pleasantly surprised to see it had tripled in value in that time!!
Word of warning - this is the Hong Kong model. Not sure what the differences are (if any).....but I wouldn't risk it because of known issues with some models

The interesting question will be how much of this will be allowed on the older versions as well.
You get paid too much Buzz!
Yes, a great advantage as one of the posters said earlier is the AirPlay feature, whilst you can plug a HDMI cable into most laptops these days, having a wireless option to stream your web browser, photos and videos without lag is the differentiator between the other products in this market.
I like cheese and my first car was a Nova
Ha Ha, I wish.
I was just going to say aren't you that cheese loving ex Nova driver!?!
I like cheese also, I never owned a Nova, but my mate had one, a brown one.
I had a Nova too, it was champagne colour ...and it was super
Ah okay cool. I was thinking that if all it can do is stream video content but can't stream your web browsing, then this device would seem very pointless.
You can mirror anything from your apple product however if the app doesn't have full airplay support it will be in 4:3 resolution so it wouldn't be full screen.
It would definitely work by mirroring as you can mirror exactly what is on your phone or iPad etc on your TV. However I'm not sure if it has full airplay support I would expect most things like that to have it. An iPad mirrored is 4:3 resolution so on a TV screen it cuts the sides off however I've heard an iPhone 5 in landscape fits full screen mirrored but I don't have one to confirm
XBMC also supports airplay mirroring if you have it on Pi,not sure if that works on Android boxes though.
Surely the one feature that Chromecast lacks which Apple TV nails is the fact that Apple TV will stream any music/videos stores on your device and play them on your TV? Chromecast will just stream Netflex, iplayer etc...
The same for apps etc, does any other Apple compatible device offer this?
This is a genuine question as I have been looking at purchasing either Chromecast or Apple TV earlier today.
Should be okay, I tend to use Sky Go on my Mac's web browser to stream to TV and that works well. 720p videos work well also - not too sure about 1080p as I've not tried it but don't see why not as long as your router is half decent.
Or, get the Apple TV 3 and use Plex on it like I do - works perfectly, and no jailbreaking necessary. Love it.
