What's the difference between the Nike watch and the standard one?

Different straps and a few exclusive faces with the Nike app complication. Pretty sure that's it.

I didn’t know that £20 can be such a massive deal which deserves a posting!

Still hoping for around £50... wish I went the very deal before but didn’t have enough credit for both fml.

That’s correct, there’s a Nike symbol on the back as well but can’t be seen once warn. I have the Nike version now and had the standard before. The Nike faces are pretty cool and the straps are nice. I’ve bought a few different nice straps cheap and they all seem to work nicely. If your like me and have various strap I’d go for the Nike version.
The only reason I’m thinking of getting an apple watch is so I can listen to music and monitor distance, health etc when running without needing my phone. Should I get the cellular version in that case or will the gps version suffice?

They have a storage on so you can have music without phone. You just can’t stream with no cellular or phone.
Yea I’m thinking the cellular might be a bit excessive. Especially as you have to pay a monthly fee on top of the more the expensive watch.
Just read that you can't use Spotify without the phone on the standard version. That's definitely pushing me more towards the cellular version.

you'd then have a £10 month fee as well, just for your running music

yes because spotify streams music so it needs GPS or wifi to work.
As far as I am aware, the Nike ones are only available in aluminium. Which might make a difference to some people.

Also Apple Pay on the watch works extremely well so you can leave your wallet behind too.

Will absolutely destroy your battery life streaming over the cell signal.

You’d pay £5 extra a month for 10gb it works out cheaper to get watch from network in this case and is unlimited watch data for £4 a month

Which deal is that? Had a quick look a few weeks back and all were highly overpriced.
I don’t know if it’s of any use to you guys but I have the cellular version because I have a health condition and if I need emergency assistance and I don’t have my phone I can call an ambulance from holding 1 button on the watch. Also if I fall or have an accident the watch will ask me if I’m ok, if I don’t respond it again calls emergency services. The non cellular version will not do this unless the phone is in range. Lastly I use a wheelchair whilst out and like many wheelchair users I have my phone in a separate bag, most of the times you can’t hear it ringing or it’s a pain to get to before it stops, with the watch you can answer it quickly and still have your hands free.

I have mine on EE it’s the 44mm version and I pay £25.20 a month as I’m an exciting customer (10% multi line discount) I paid £30 upfront so total including plan is £634.80 for 24 months.. however the watches always have a half decent resale value so I get a new one after 18 months and sell the old watch to cover the contract settlement plus the £30 advance payment. ie I just sold my series 3 cellular for £170 which left me slightly in profit when changing to the series 5

if you buy it outright it’s £530 plus the data plan. I’m not sure if they still do but it was free for 3 months then £7 a month for 10gb data so £677

EE directly, I just pop-in to my local EE store and speak to the salesmen in Sainsburys every new major model/update. Total cost was like £120 more than buying direct from Apple but then you're also getting unlimited data vs 10GB (unlimited is 3 months for non-direct sales).

Just to note that you don't need the cellular version for that, so long as the phone is nearby you can answer the call on the watch with the normal version as well. Very handy if your phone is under several layers of clothing or at the bottom of your bag (or you're driving and haven't connected to car bluetooth).

I never said you did, you quoted my post and changed it
I would suggest buying it from John Lewis and adding their accidental damage cover for £40 to their two year Warrenty to cover dropping it and cracking/smashing the screen like I did The other day, without any accidental damage cover!!!

(also no excess charger unlike Apple care plan!)
Also John Lewis are doing 24 month 0% interest credit on certain Apple products, which includes this series of the watch.

Not accusing you of anything - it's just other people may have read your post and concluded that you need the cellular version for that functionality, so I wanted to clarify. Please don't take offence!

Depending what data you need, you could just one of the Three sims that have free 200MB per month. You can put some credit on them that can be used for calls and texts if you need it, too.
An alternative idea is one thf 'Internet with Legs' sims from Three, available on Amazon, they do 12month/12GB one and 24month/24GB SIMs. The 24GB ones are sometimes under 35 pounds. Again, you can put credit on those for using fo calls and text messages, fi you need it.

Damn sales rep lied to me! Glad I didn’t pay more for it.
Would like one but pointless for me. The joys of owning a Samsung phone.
