Bought one just after xmas, I would personally say to get the value for money out of it you need to use the fitness side of things. Or some specific apps. Personally use it for fitness (runs, workouts, swimming etc) and use a golf app for shot distances (a standalone watch for this is about £120-150). Great bit of kit, very happy with it.
Change the price in the title.

Yes, very easily as well.
If I could use this as a MP3 player it would be somewhat useful
Very were doing 20% off apple as I got one for Christmas which I thought was a fab deal.

I am really enjoying the GPS version, though, I did have more of a perception (incorrectly), it could do a bit more from an app front i.e. BBC news shows you the top 5 stories, but id like to see more.

Overall, I can now go without my phone, listen to what music I want to with streaming and it helps with keeping fit and healthy. Battery life is two days which isn't bad!

Biggest problem I have had is with transferring a number to EE and then not having GPS available for two weeks as the phone kept linking to a wrong number. That has been sorted, but the process was certainly not seamless, I think that's EE's fault, not Apples.

With Apple Music and GPS version you can (this is why I specifically got the GPS version). You just need to have some Bluetooth headphones and you have access to all of apples music catalogue.

For headphones, I have gone with these as they are waterproof up to 1 meter. They will do for the occasional swim and when it rains.

Fitbit Charge 2 HR is much better than Apple Watch. You have to charge watch everyday and if you charge @ night your sleep timing will not be monitor. Fitbit last at least 4 days.
Don't buy in-store, as if you return watch Argos employee/Manager will give you the Third degree, think being captured behind enemy lines, but worse.

No, buy online and benefit from DSRegs, if you really must buy one.

I had the 1st gen apple watch and Yes you had to charge it every night. I've upgraded to the S3 and it easily goes 3 days on one charge. I used to use the Fitbit Charge but it constantly gave me a rash so I had to return it and opted for a refund instead
Errr why the excitement it’s only the GPS version, not the cellular (which IS great BTW)
Ps data plan EE only atm, free for the first 6 months then £5 for 20g. Alloa

Yes, some confusion here I think by 'Jonsmyname', whom is referring to the 'GPS version' when I think they probably mean 'Cellular' version. I believe both versions of the Apple watch have GPS.
Thanks OP. With works discount got the wife a 38mm for £276.

Was thinking of returning my GPS one and getting a cellular but EE seem to be the only ones unfortunately
I considered Cellular version but realistically didn't see when I would get the benefit from it. How often am I comfortable being away from phone? very rarely tbh. And I don't use Apple Music (Spotify is better) so wouldn't get that benefit.

For battery life I could easily get 2-3 days out of mine, using it normally and doing 30-60 mins workout tracking each day. But in practice I charge overnight every day.
John Lewis price matches this.

The GPS version is much better considering battery life.
Its preferred by almost all the reviews online.

Only if you are in extreme sports and have a wireless apple certified headphone, the cellular version makes sense. Otherwise, the GPS version is good enough for battery for two days comparing the day long battery for sim version.
Can anyone advise why this is better than the cellular? Im really looking to get the new cellular version, always wanted to go out for a couple of hours without having the need for a mobile and refer to watch only for emergencies.
Does anyone know if the cellular versions sim cards charge for their services or can it be on a pay as you go (free)?
Not sure that this price is bargain...

The only advantage Apple Music offers is offline storing of songs on watch only, which again is for people who prefer not carrying the phone on those long runs etc..
Spotify works great on my GPS watch.

That’s what I thought but I submitted a claim this morning and they just emailed me to say they wouldn’t pricematch because they saw it sold for £359 same as them i went back online to argos and its still there for £329!

i do like JL generally but sometimes i do find their staff a bit dense!

I was making this purchase purely on the whim so the fact JL are making things difficult I’ll use that as a sign not tobuy this time round
ill wait for sub £300 dealsfor the 42mm.

Sorry everyone, meant Cellular not GPS version.

Cellular is the reason for having the watch IMO and for a 20% price increase (in proportion to the cost of the GPS watch), it is worth it. Also getting the bigger 42mm also has improved battery life, so its something to consider.

For re-sale values alone I think it will be much more desirable and will likely hold its value better then the GPS version.

Annoying thing is from a software perspective, I prefer Spotify but it is not supported on the apple watch as clearly, moving people onto Apple music means more money for Apple.

Do I blame them for doing that, no, though id prefer more consumer choice.

I bought it from JL and did not open it and then made a claim. They refunded. Sometimes its better to buy from them and act as if you got robbed by them lol. I think you should send a claim again and they should eventually price match it.
For anyone planning to use the Apple watch to track fitness and if your also in the market for life insurance renewal, try Vitality. You can get the watch for as low as £29 if you earn enough points a week (40 points = 4 days in a week of 12,500 steps or more).

When I took the deal out in October it was £0 upfront but now back to £29. If you earn enough points for 2 years then you pay nothing. The deal I posted went sub zero on here but so far I'm enjoying my "free" apple watch by doing the exercise I was already doing.
