If you missed the Nike deal or are after a nicer band this could be a good option. I don't see these dropping much further as most shops don't seem to have been holding much stock.

Series 2, from £289.

No its not.

Rather pay the extra money and then get a newer series 3

The cellular option on the series 3 really is a game changer in the smart watch market...worth paying extra for that I think

Only if you're willing to pay for cellular, at the moment it's also limited to EE and I've heard it's £5pm.

So the Series 2 may still be a decent enough buy.

Series 3 LTE is excellent. It’s free for 6 months then 5 a month after that. It’s 30 days rolling contract.

I'd just get a series 3 for another £40. Will last longer before it slows down and has some nice upgrades.

Is the series 1 still good to buy?

Just bought Nike + from EE is it any worse than the normal series 3 ?

Got it for £250 from them on last year BlackFriday event so it's nice to know that I got a good deal.

Phew, close thing there. I almost teetered and went for an apple watch. Then I remembered that £289 is more money than I paid for a SIM free iPhone 7 and backed off.

Can anyone here tell me how LTE is useful in a watch that won't work without an iPhone anyway?

I think it will be in time.. but I think right now at ‘gen 1’ in an Apple Watch it’s too limited and restricted. Give it a couple more years and I think it will be very much more refined and useful.

Where is it available for £329? Have I missed a deal?

This may be useful for those who are regularly away from their phones.

For example, if you go running or you want to keep your phone in a specific place e.g. a locker but would still like to have a form of communication on you and I believe Apple Music will be available (at least at some point).

£329 is the standard full price for the new series 3 without LTE/cellular so that's already a good price compared to the old series 2 which had a full price of £369 until 2 weeks ago

Keep checking, they came back in stock again..silver is in stock as I'm writing this.
it seems their system shows out of stock as soon as someone adds to basket without completing purchase, and goes back in stock after a certain time.worth keep checking their website.
£220 is a steal.

I got the 38mm when they were on sale with Nike as 42mm was out of stock. Wish I would have hung on a few weeks long as they got 42mm back in stock

Nike give you 2 weeks to send it back so it may have been used. I missed my 2 week deadline by 3 days to send it back for the larger size

well I bought 42mm initially but it looked huge on my 17cm wrist, it looked like a toy and a device not a "watch" .so I returned 42mm and bought 38mm it looks WAY better on my wrist.
depends on wrist size, but Imo for 17CM and under wrists 38MM is much more suitable and better looking.

You need the iPhone to setup the watch but after that the lte version can make and receive calls and access maps/messages/emails etc without an iPhone being present. Kills the battery but for runners it's nice to have an emergency phone device it's you and not have to cart your brick on the run.

Worth meantioning apple watch LTE can't send or recieve text, if iPhone is OFF.
ie if iPhone battery dies.

The Series 1 and Series 2 are effectively the same device, but the Series 2 can be used for swimming and has GPS. The Series 1 is still a good option. There is also the Series 0 that some people confuse with the Series 1. It is the first Apple Watch that was released back in 2015. It is fine albeit slightly slow for first party apps. It's painfully slow for third party apps.

Series 0 - First version, 2015
Series 1 and 2 - Claimed 100% faster than Series 0, 2016
Series 3 - Claimed 70% faster than Series 1 and 2, 2017

I'd avoid the Series 0 models, but the rest are fine. I still have a Series 0 and intend to keep it as it was (as with some other first generation Apple devices) such a premium feel compared to successors.

Thanks RC , I will get it , it is a series 1

With this price only 38mm

HUKD £277.

The quoted price is for those that have to pay a month because they are not good at arguing on the telephone, but I - and a lot of others, paid £277.

Avoid Series 0 (The original model) it's just too slow now.

Buy Series 2 if you need GPS for tracking while running, walking, outdoor activity (with GPS you don't need to take your phone with you for these activities) + want full water proof feature so you can swim, shower with the watch on

Otherwise Series 1 is as good as 2.

Series 3 is much faster than 2/1 and of course 0 so this fact alone makes it better choice.there are 2 models with LTE so you can make phone calls / send receive text etc without phone being present but more suitable for emergency/short calls as bater will drain REALY fast if used as a phone) and model without LTE .however it's going to cost more whereas there are very good deals for series 2 and 1.

if money in no problem always go for the best (series 3) and decide either you want LTE or non-LTE
if money is a consideration:
then chose series 2 if you exercise
if not series 1 is good (but not series 0)

Seems a little steep considering the Series 3 now starts at £329. Sorry OP had to vote cold.

series 3 is meant to be really fast and worth the upgrade

how is this even a good deal when the new one is £329 at argos ?
