Only relevant if you want an always on display and compass.

If you don’t the £70 is better in your pocket.

It was actually less than £70, it was just £10 more this week using code at eBay...

Yeah, but it's the newest and will always lasts 1 year longer than than the 4
I ordered a S5 which is still on its way but I may also order this and decide whether the S5 is worth the extra money with the AOD (don’t care about compass)
I’d also say cold

AO was selling series 5 on ebay for 339 with code, it’s OOS

Still think series 4 should be way cheaper now
Why? You could have the Series 5 for an extra tenner... Some people are thick as two short planks

OOS at that price. So no, you can’t have it for a tenner more. It’s now £70 more.

You Snooze, u lose
Was hoping these would go down to £300. Otherwise like others said would prefer the 5. Still on the original so looking to upgrade soon!
All series 4 Apple watches are on sale I think....
Not seen a comment on here yet but Apple has discontinued the S4 Apple Watch, they do not sell it anymore just the S3 and S5.

Other retailers will continue to sell the remaining stock.

Why would it last longer? The only ‘lasting longer’ will be that it will hold its value for a year longer which only matters if you’re intending to sell it within a couple of years to upgrade again. (After 3 years I would expect a second hand 4 and 5 would be roughly the same price)

Apple do updates for these devices years after they stop selling them (even the series 1 gets this years watchOS6 upgrade)

If if it was just a £10 more sure of course get the latest but for such little feature upgrades from the S4 £50-£70 is noticeable; unless you really want compass and AoD of course

You've answered your own question, they've phased out series 0, then next will be S1 and so forth. That's why a s5 will always last a year longer than the s4 (ie watch being incapable with the newer os).
Someone walking around with a first edition watch won’t see it stop working this year just because it’s not on the latest WatchOS or receiving the latest update.

My brother still uses an iPhone 4 and I have an Apple TV 3 all of which don’t get apples latest OS versions but they work as intended just as they did when they were getting updates.

plus Apple still put out security updates on products that no longer receive latest OS versions so no need to worry there.

So won’t last any different depending which model you buy, just possibly get a years less updates.
