Exactly the info i needed, thank you!
2nd gen due in a couple of months - if you can wait until then - prices of 1st gen will plummet and like the iPad 2 will be significantly upgraded from gen 1 - maybe even lower priced.
Looks like some of them have £120 off on PC World.......
do those discounts apply to the top end, because i'm trying to imagine spending 17,000$ on an already out of date piece of tech.

Same here. I got the iPad 1 and regretted not waiting for the 2.

All of the apple insiders have said this is very unlikely. Either October or next March.
why buy a watch that needs charging every day.

No one should ever buy a first generation Apple product.

People who spend $17,000 on outdated tech, won't hesitate to rebuy newer gens.

To be fair I was tempted - but I've stuck with my original Pebble until now since I've not come across anything else that'll last over a week on one charge.

I did learn my lesson and agree with you.
Why is the apple watch square???
Very confused

Great logic.. then there wouldn't be a 2nd gen and you'd still be using a Nokia 3310.

Great price for a great piece of tech, but as people have stated you may run the risk of a new version being announced in March. Hot for the price all the same.
FFS! Knew I should have held on. Although these look different to the one I paid £600 on eBay for.

A few years later they cost a £1 in petrol stations
also like all apple mobile devices ,screens are made to crack.know to many people with theses that have smashed there screen.strange as i have never cracked a watch screen in 46 years.just another way of apple boosting there profits

Yes he should have said, only mugs buy first gen Apple products.

Which is true, it's not because of available tech improving, it's because of Apple's carrot and stick approach. If much less people bought much less Apple products, they'd be forced to compete by increasing features. Look how long it took for Apple to bring out picture messaging etc. Hilarious actually how terrible they are, but design and usability is king for most consumers who will sacrifice a lot for those things.

FWIW, I'm an Apple guy. 3 MBPs here, a new 27 inch iMac, generations of iPhones, iPods etc. My first computer was a Mac in the early 90s.

You get to know them well and they are very, very predictable. You can't understand Apple and not be cynical. Anything else is delusional.

Just wait until Apple introduce a new magical feature that they've specially created called.. the World Orbital Tracker. It will be revolutionary. A game changer.

You can now go out for a run with your £300 watch and it can track your movement! You can see where you ran on maps, see segments and see your progression! All without needed to have your bulky phone with you. Isn't it just wonderful.

*GPS watch users around the world let out a collective sigh*

Decent price for a nice watch - I've had mine about 6 months now and also have an LG Urbane for work, I have just this morning had to take the LG back as I am getting constant disconnecting, why do I tell this story? Because Apple products just work, no messing around, no dropping connection, nothing, the software and hardware is all in sync and the user experience is always smooth - I've had a pebble too and watch OS is easily the most stable, OK the Apple Watch costs a bit more, and in truth part of that is a "status tax" but you can't fault their product on usability

Hardly a good example, the 3310 was 5th generation of that type of phone, you're thinking of the Nokia 1011.

Recently (say the last 5-10 years) Apple has been treating its first gen products as betas. (Granted I have bought some in the past but now I wait)

First iPod? Only had Firewire and no Windows support.
First iPhone? No apps or 3G.
First AppleTV? Huge - didn't do HD, had basically no features that the aTV has now. Was basically a crippled SFF PC
First iPad? Massively thick - very underpowered.
First Apple Watch? Poor battery life and very thick.

There are more too:
The first MacBook Air wasn't that great until we got the models with i5 CPUs.
The first-gen Retina MacBook Pro had issues as well.

learoy69

also like all apple mobile devices ,screens are made to crack

Any evidence to support this or are you just trolling?

Battery life could be better, although I've only had one instance where it ran out of juice (on a 5 hour cycle ride, with the fitness tracker running). As for being thick, it's about the same size and weight as my Tissot.

Clearly just trolling, however be aware that the screen on the sport does scratch very easily. Much worse than any other watch I have owned.
By the way guys, March 15th is the new drop date it seems for the Apple Watch and iPad Air updates. Maybe a new iPhone 5 model too.

Definitely wouldn't be spending cash on an Apple Watch or iPad Air right now.
Good deal if you're after one - heated
Pointless devices IMO - not just Apple - all smart watches... but I'm one of the lucky people who can still take their phone out of their pocket and put it back in

I wouldn't say that. I've had my original Pebble for quite a few years now, although it's old tech now the battery still lasts well over a week.

It also makes the battery on my phone last longer as the screen isn't being turned on everytime I get an alert - which is killer on modern phones.

The Hamilton Pulsar? That things hella pricey now.

I'll grant you the e-paper devices are a little better suited to the task but I just can't justify the expense for the sake of saving 3 seconds when I get a message, especially as I'd prefer to use my phone to reply anyway.
It comes down to what you get used to I suppose and I don't begrudge anyone having one - they just don't appeal to me - tech for tech's sake IMO (and I am a bu@@er for buying tech)

I guess apple make their glass thinner, to make the device as thin as possible.
Horrible company, no more 32gb ipad air.
You get 16 or 64. Thats so they can charge criminal amounts for extra memory

Maybe your family should be more careful? My family has 3 ipads, 2 iPhones and 1 Apple Watch - guess what none of them are broken. I do have a slight mark on my iPhone 6 screen - which was caused by me dropping something glass on to it.

Most of my work colleagues have none broken screen on their iPhones. Apart from my manager who lets his kids use his iPhone 6 + and guess what kids do?
