We've not seen a good price on these for a little while now and £6 sounds good to me. You'll need a Xiaomi gateway for it, but if you already have one, you're laughing.

These are great, I have about 10 and they're very reliable.

However, I should mention that you do not need the Xiaomi gateway - they work with the Samsung SmartThings hub too.

Alarm system - alerts on mobile phone when doors/windows are opened while alarm is armed.
I have the one on the back door that auto knocks on the light in the garden when the door is opened after 7pm (could probably be pushed a bit later this time of year)

At one point, in an effort to get the wife to close doors after her, I had them set to play Chinese radio if a door was opened and not closed within 3 minutes. Always a losing battle, that one!

You could have a chime when a specific door opens (you need something like Google home or Alexa and a bit of time and brains to set it up), get an alert when a door is left open for a certain amount of time, have smart lights turn on when you open a door, get an alert it's going to rain if a window or skylight is left open - and there's even an app in smartthings to remind you to take medicine if you haven't opened a medicine cabinet with one fitted by a certain time. Let your imagination go wild.

You seem to know what you're doing with these. I have the Aqara Hub and Camera (with integrated hub) and these sensors. All work great other than when I set the app up (in 2018) it was half-Chinese still and you need to connect to the Mainland China server I think. Basically, most of my alerts are random Chinese characters followed by the device name in English. Do you know how to get it all in English? As you cannot use the Europe server as the Aqara devices don't appear in the list.

Otherwise works great and far cheaper than others. I have temperature, RH and door sensors scattered around.

Yep like the others alarms for doors, windows, fridge door etc plus linked to SMartthings and Konnected.io gives presence etc so as we leave the house alarm is automatically armed and disarmed upon return , messages in between, turn lights on and off, the whole smart home thing.

Never thought of This... Now bought for this purpose. Cheers!
So is there a really simple way to set these up so you get a warning on your smartphone if you leave windows/doors open after bedtime or when everyone's left the house?

If you’re an iOS user then integrating the hub (and by default the sensors) in to Homebridge allows you to receive notifications via Home app in English. Works a treat for me!

Do you know of a guide for this? I’m pretty good with computers/phones but I only ever got this to work with the Xiaomi Home app and when I got this working I just left it alone.

You can run Homebridge on a few devices. I have it running (as do many) on a Raspberry Pi (3b for me).

Suggest you visit hoobs.org and review the basic setup guide. HOOBS makes it easy to install the necessary plugins you’ll need for your devices. You then generally need some basic configuration of the plugin in question. Happy to go in to more detail if you wish although not sure here is the best place to do so. Let me know if you’d like more detailed info and PM me with your email details so I can send something over.

Ah right. So you run your own hub effectively? I have the Xiaomi Hub, I just want to get it into English properly! I have a spare Pi 3b so I might give that a go sometime though. Thanks for that!
What's really good is if you have a mi band also you can get notifications that the alarm is going off aswell.

Most of it can be done via the app with if and then scenarios multiple of each are allowed, very simple to do with 15 minutes of playing around, of course each has to be able to talk to each other as there is no one standard (yet)
