We use the tea test! As soon as we see a 'film' on top of the tea we know it's time to change. Time varies enormously, somewhere between a month to 3 months! Obviously it's dependent on how much water you filter and due to circumstances our requirements change from one week to the next.
Had a Brita Marella Jug Filter for a few years and been very happy with it but the cartridges are getting harder to find for less than daft money (we ALWAYS buy on special offer but the offers seem to be getting harder to come by so bought this yesterday as the savings on cartridges over just a year is quite substantial. Haven't used it yet as still have a couple of Maxtra filters left but to us it makes sense to vote with our wallets (or purse for Mrs Bellboys ) Maybe Brita might get the message if more people do this. They are the clear market leader but it's not like there aren't alternatives out there...

PS Have to say I've become a big fan of Wilko recently. Some real bargains to be had.

The Brita cartridges last three week max in London, how long do these go for?

When I first got my Brita water filter jug I used it 4 times in the 1st month, and it was flashing on top to change the filter.
It is just a money making scam probably good for 6 months per filter
Im a Aqua filter fan.
I have 2 optima jugs and filters, Still got 4 years of filters.
Filters are much cheaper than these.
£25.21 for 2 years worth. Also fits brita, NOT brita plus.
Some people complain that the filters slowing down a bit.
To fix this take out filter and blow into it while holding it upside down.
Works a treat.

I thik so, As in the listing they both say they fit brita jugs. Fitting Brita Maxtra (not Maxtra+), Aqua Optima and our Wilko AquaAdvanced jugs.
Aqua have 2 filters but to fit this jug you would need the Aqua Optima Evolve filter.

Cool, thanks
Careful with the Wilko jugs though. The spout flap breaks off very easily. Broke one. Bought another and it broke immediately. Heat tho just for it being £5!

I would like to give this a try as well. I buy my Brita Filter always in advance whenever I find an offer but you are right not that easy to find and I could imagine that this will be very soon even harder as coming from Germany :-(

Yep, They seem the same. It says filters will fit brita and so do Aqua evolve filters.
At worst find an Aqua jug that take evolve filters and buy that, Like this one with filters included.

hotukdeals.com/dea…739

Wilko used to sell Aqua. When they stopped they sold off a jug and 1 year of filters for £10.00.
I got the last 3 packs from a local wilko and when I had used up 2 years I ordered a 3 year supply of filters from Aqua direct at £35.00.

Reviews are not so great when it comes to replacing the filters. Seems to be a tight fit! Probably still worth it as disposable jug fit this price even if it lasts a month.

If you leave them too long then the filtered elements leach out into the water and you get a bigger dose than you normally would.
The Wilko filters are made by Aqua Optima, or at least the boxes that come into the store are taped with Aqua Optima branding

But surely it can’t be a fixed one month for someone who uses it as a family 5 times a day or a bachelor who might have used it twice in that month ?
I always get the Aqua Optima 60 day filters - currently a two year supply of 12 filters is on Amazon for just over £25 - the Wilko ones would cost nearly that much for just 12 months.
Of course, I usually stretch it to 3 months between changes!

Yeah. What some people get confused about is it's not a time limit, but amount of usage - volume of water. Also varies with different areas and water quality - how hard the filters/carbon need to work.

So, they say 30 days is based on an average amount of use in an average household, and that would mean changing it every 30 days.

I have two of these jugs (I prefer them to Brita), and use them for tea, drinking water, and dogs' water, and was sad enough to calculate a rough volume of water per month use (filter's capacity is written on the box) and I change my two every three months. Like other's say - the tea scum test works too lol
