£4.99 at wilkinsons and 1 filter free with the jug, also 3 filters for £4.99. i think they will be selected store only now because they was an offer of bogof a while back but they are still about because i work at wilkinsons.

Bit deep that title for this time on a Sunday a.m.
Need to go back to school to work out the title.

Yup, I picked these up a few weeks back. 2 Jugs plus a filter for a fiver the pair and a year's supply of filters for a tenner. It is only selected stores now, so the Amazon deal is probably the next best.

The 12 month pack has just gone up then. I posted this a month ago and it stayed at £17 till recently.

If your going to buy the one for £7.50 I would recommend to go instead the one for £5 at Argos the 1.4L jug is much better and comes with a 30day filter, unless they have since improved the 2.25L one. Since that one leaks water into the filtered section when you fill to the top and when you pur with water in the top it leaks out then too.

So I can get the jug with 6 filters for £20, or just get the 6 filters for £21.99. Hmmm.

What exactly are we filtering here?
We have some of the best water in the world !

Nice find. As another said, in the city you can taste and smell the chlorine in the water, and this helps reduce that.

does depend on where you live, in London its quite visible the bits and bobs in the water.

Agreed, unless you live in a big city where you can taste the chlorine, … Agreed, unless you live in a big city where you can taste the chlorine, these are a little pointless in my opinion. I used one for a few months and initially thought it tasted better, but it was more of a placebo effect from the water being chilled...Mine's since been demoted to the attic!

Apart from the various chemical deposits, the calcium levels are quite high in some areas, such as mine. Kettles fur up in a trice. While those are easy to descale, some of the coffee makers are less easy clear out and I don't really like the idea of sending chemicals round those for that reason.

I also drink black tea. You can really tell the difference with unfiltered water, which leaves a layer of scum on the surface.

Really? That sounds gross.
I live in Manchester and am lucky enough(judging from some of the replies here)to have crystal clear water.
Heat for the OP in that case.

ive just posted a thread about this jug.

in wilkinsons store - jug and 4 filters for £5

Have you checked your kettle? If you use filtered water in your kettles you get less build up of lime-scale

Seriously I used to be saying the same thing one day I just had a look in a clear glass, in London they do have to treat the water more so than elsewhere. Up in nottingham its clear and im happy with drinking it. I would stil drink the tap water but I dont think its outrageous to buy these filters. Better than bottled water right.

are they as good as the BRITA ones?

Rubix78;8394698

Having used both I cant tell the filtering quality difference, the only difference in in the jugs and I find Brita takes longer to filter. But Brita has a bigger selection of jugs with bigger capacities.

Thanks, im only after a small one to fit in the fridge

I got this jug with the 6 double-life filters from Amazon for £15 just before Christmas but that was a short-lived offer. The jug is a bit on the large size and won't fit on our fridge door so it lives on the top shelf. It does filter very quickly. We've had no problems with water leaking, by pouring first and then re-filling.

There is also a smaller jug on offer at ASDA for £5 at the moment ...
