I bought this awhile ago. Stripped all the bits out and sold on ebay and then converted it to retropie. Very easy to do.

certainly a very good deal compared to retail and ebay prices
Wish I had room for a lot of arcade cabinets lol
Thanks for the share, can't afford but.... So tempting. How easy is it to add additional games? Are they like the Pandora's joysticks where more games can be added with just a memory card? Or do they need more kit like a raspberry pi and if so are connectors (board) expensive?

I had planned along these lines as well, unfortunately my bank didn't agree

I can sympathise - i have the money but i just cant justify £4500 for it at the mo!

Especially when I first played Star Wars Battlefront II, it kinda makes the Star Wars sit in pale in comparison but ahhh the memories of a Saturday in town with £1 pocket money and the choice of 10p for a game of Space Invaders, Robotron 2084 or 50p for the Star Wars sitin hmmm and the dilemma of having no money left for a delicious Kentucky Fried Spare ribs in that delicious tangy tomato spicy sauce ahhhh better days........
Pardon me I am away for a blubb!

can’t recommend a star wars arcade, i had one up until a couple of years ago and maintenance is very hard for vector cabs, every time i switched it on i would worry about what would break next.

Would be easy enough to make a small box or plinth to raise it up to adult height for very little money

How straight forward was it really to do? the video doesnt look too bad to follow but and a rough figure total to do the upgrade?

You can buy official risers for them making it possible to stand but my concern is the location of the dartboard.
My brother bought this and I was shocked at how poor the screen and joystick / buttons were - any decent street fighter player knows pulling off special moves should be second nature but on this - it was completely random if diagonal directions would be read or not

I’d certainly be more concerned about sitting directly below a dartboard!

There not the best but not the worst either, some now come with sanwa clones which are alot better than the first set of sticks they use. very easy to upgrade tho. monitor is ok but again easy to upgrade.

£35 Pi 3b+, £15 for a video interface or a 2nd hand monitor, £12 for a USB joystick and button set off eBay, £5 for a 32gb sd card, then just search for Wolfanoz 32gb arcade1up Pi image and you are done - all the gaming you would need!

Lol, I remember days gone by going to pubs where the tables were right under the dartboard. Every so often somebody would get a dart in their beer.

My local had an old tire round the board which would repel stray darts into peoples beers. It was next to the gents too so people coming in and out of the loo had to run the gauntlet lol

Do you have the control deck protector? If so, where did you buy from please?
Edited by: "KCooperman" 22nd Aug 2019
I think these are worth getting if you love the game and are happy just to play it, but don't think they are worth getting to mod because by the time you have added a Pi, new monitor or video-interface, and upgraded the buttons and sticks, you are basically just paying for some mdf and nice vinyl - in that case you may be better off getting a mdf kit off eBay and building it from scratch.
Of course, at this price the differential isn't as great as it is at the usual £349 so may be worthwhile for some. I am currently making a repro A1UP cab from mdf as I like the look and size of them, I have owned many arcade cabs and they just take up too much room, are unreliable and a bugger to fix, and are now also incredibly expensive, so RetroPie gives me all the game I need, epically as these cabs are so small you can have enough room for a trackball cab, spinner cab etc.
This will go well in my man cave...

Never seen anyone mention their "103inch plasma telly"
As much as you ever..

Embarrassing.

What did you do last night omendata?

"I watched news at 10 in my 103 inch plasma telly"...

Mate it's 9 years old, unimpressive in today's standards, weighs the same as Boeing 747 and has bezels the size of skirting boards..

Give the bragging game a rest
