This is a fantastic video to watch regarding that. As someone like myself who is DIY-challenged and had never previously owned a drill, I followed it and modded my first Pac-Man cabinet just fine. Finding a working arcade image to burn to the SD Card was a whole other story.

Sorry had to check as it's been a while.
It's a Pentium G4560 system with the stock cooler, nvidia 660gtx (I had lying around) & 16gb ddr4 ram on an Asus B250M-K motherboard, with a low profile WiFi card added to one of the pci slots.
Mounting wise I put everything in first & marked it up then drilled in grub screws for the motherboard mounts. The monitor is a cheap old dell I got for £18 & it has a power out splitter with the psu so only 1 cable is coming out of the case.
Its running Windows 10 & using launchbox for the interface/game management.

Nowadays I'd probably go for one of radeons new 5700g cpus as the integrated graphics are impressive.

If you do get one the biggest advice I can give is to buy & crimp the wiring yourself so you can colour code to make life easier as most bundled sets come with all the same colour (the daisy chained black wires are the grounds)!

Yep, I have a TMNT one modded with a PI for something like 3000 games across arcade, 8-bit and 16-bit consoles & computers. Though to be fair I think I had/have more fun with the modding than playing the games

I prefer the wall mounted version - takes up less space and looks cooler than this 3/4 size model.

Good price with the riser included. Not too difficult to mod with a PI for an electronics noob like me, but adds to the overall cost like £40, fun project if you have the time & space. I added some neon light strips too around the back

Extra buttons, illuminated ones, internal pc speakers for decent sound, pi4 for performance and more games than I can remember.

Now if I only had time to play on it 😏 (edited)

Wow. My friend paid £80 I think plus £25 for a convertor. This is back 32ywars or so ago.

I thought he was the richest kid in the school!

So worked out £100 then is £232 today... Wow for a game......

... Best £232 he spent in his life.

If it was one of the versions with more games I would consider it but 200 quid for 3 Street fighters games is still to rich for me.

Personally I bought a Pandora's Box recently and was massively impressed with it. 3000+ games on it and most of them played arcade-perfectly (from what I remember) including about 15 versions of Street Fighter. They're available from *lots* of places from about £100 upwards for just the console box with 2 stick 12 button set-up and built in speaker.

A good option for people who don't want a permanent cabinet set-up in their house tbh.

I built my own bartop from a flat pack but I have a pc inside rather than the usual pi route. Hell of a squeeze to get everything in (micro-atx) but I even managed to fit a small subwoofer & an nvidia graphics card in there so I can play PS2 light gun games on it as well as a few newer systems & pc beat em ups.

Main joysticks can be lifted & twisted to swap between 4 way & 8 way direction without opening & the main buttons are gold leaf (nearly silent).

Took so long to build (I did all the cab artwork too, most of it is game sprites posed in scenes & printed on vinyl) it was also black originally. Hate to think what I spent but it was something I'd always wanted to do and was a long term project.

I bought everything from arcade world UK except the pc components.

Coin-ops. Google it as the one word... I put it on my PC and honestly... just about every game you can imagine from arcades and Atari straight up to PS3 is on it. You can use Xbox/DS4 on it or just plug in some joysticks!

I just downloaded Coinops for the PC and it's just about every single game from Atari/Pac-Man up to PS3/Xbox 360. My PC only allowed me as far as Dreamcast/PS2 but everything prior worked and you can use Xbox pads with the wireless controller or wire up a PS4 pad and voila

I’d personally consider this over any of the newer ‘Legacy’ series of Arcade1up cabs released in the UK.

Yes, the Legacy cabs have many improvements BUT they have an atrocious design (a raised edge around the controls) which will render the player with a sore hand after not much playing time. Older cabs avoid this problem.

I hear you, it was fun to play with loads of mates at a time when multiplayer was a novelty but TMNT was designed so that you couldn’t avoid dying at times on the basis that its purpose was to get coins from players. Frustrating over time. SFII at least was a fair game.
