OK, Archer himself is not my sort of chap (!) but his books are excellent. Kane and Abel and the Fourth Estate stand out for me, and for a quid this is a steal.

"At first glance, Richard Armstrong and Keith Townsend seem to have little in common, but both of them are gamblers and are prepared to risk everything in their battle to control the biggest media empire in the world. Only one of them will succeed."

£5.48 at Amazon, £5.17 at WHSmiths. This is the paperback version.

Hah, someone just voted cold, how is this not a good deal? Like I say, Archer is a t**l but the book is a bestseller and a great read, too.

I've read it. It seems to draw a parallel with the lives of media moguls Murdoch and the late Maxwell; focusing on the growth and inevitible collision of their respective empires. Well worth £1; hot from me.

I've read most of his other books, they are pretty decent, must be worth a pound,
have some heat.

will make for good holiday reading - his others have been very enjoyable - thanks
