There is a JB update but nothing more official than that.

Would not buy another Archos myself.

isn't the hudl a better choice?

Can only speak from personal preference here, but I'm not a liker of the Hudl. Had both (Hudl & Hudl 2) and returned them both within a week of purchase.

As I stated in my post, I basically only use tablet's to watch movies, so therefore prefer the bigger screen, I will be buying this Tablet come Payday, as using my daughter's Nexus 7 with a 7" screen and it's hopeless, far too small for me.

Horrible, nasty, cheap brand with poor screens, buggy software and no updates. The build quality is very poor and the charging ports tend to break after a few months too. Do yourself a favour & get a refurbed brand name tablet from ebay such as this one for a fiver more ebay.co.uk/itm…AIT

That link is to a refurbished Lenevo tablet from Argos. I'm not sure any of those points make it more desireable than Archos or a Hudl2 from Tesco.

I did say that it was a refurb. And still miles ahead of an Archos in terms of quality.

Reading this on the Archos 101xs posted which I've had for a year and very happy with it. Did have to re-install software due to problems connecting to WiFi but helpline took me through the process and no issues since then

I purchased this exact model for my mum and it was terrible. After a week it crashed permanently until the battery died. My brother also got the same tablet and a similar thing happened plus it wouldn't charge anymore. Both were returned for a full refund within weeks of purchase.

I would never buy an Archos product again. Had 2. Both have been very below par experiences.
Poor quality, poor reliability, poor customer service. You can get a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 for that sort of money.

Same here. Never ever again. Also Tesco are likely to direct you to Archos' customer service if you need it, and Archos customer service will ignore you.

I don't lobe Archos - the one I had was buggy and unresponsive, but if you want purely for movies, perhaps this one from Morgan (refurb, but 250gb is enough for a decent few films... morgancomputers.co.uk/pro…PC/

A friend of mine had one. Awful awful piece of kit - 90 quid down the drain.

Had to send two of these back for different problems before sticking with a third despite issues. Awful machine awful company. I had an Archos 5 which I loved because it was the only machine I could find to do what I wanted it to do, but it was so high maintenance.

As buy anything made by Archos you might as well violate yourself, it would be less frustrating.

ICE CREAM SANDWITCH??? I used to have that dessert in my house 3 years back.

Wouldn't touch it because it's Archos and because it's got a mechanical hard drive (and a refurb one at that).

The build quality and support of Archos stuff's gone way down in the last 10-15 years. Plenty of apps won't work on it because it's running an old version of Android and Archos won't port new versions.

OK, I need to get a tablet to replace my Blackberry Playbook and I have £150 in Tesco vouchers...which one would you recommend? I mostly use it for dodgy gifs on Reddit and coming here to read about you tightwads arguing about India (basically web browsing) and playing music whilst I'm in the shower.

£150 in tesco vouchers? Hudl 2 for sure. £99 and great quality tablets.

Rubbish tablet

please avoid! they are so bad!

Bought one for the mrs a while back, it went straight back, the sound is terrible and the wifi signal works at about 5 meters max, screen is just soooooo back, slight angle you cannot see a thing. avoid!!!

How are archos still around?!

that review gives it 3/5, and that was in 2012, lots of new tablets out since then.

I've got Archos Gamepad2 for my son a year ago and almost no issues. Hmmm...

Re 19 .Buy a Hudl2 they are an amazing piece of kit . Put a 64gb card in it and get an hdmi lead to connect up to your tv .

Nothing has changed since 2009 then

Oh good grief - this tablet would be an acceptable buy at £39 - but £79!!! Really?

Good luck. You'll need it. Seriously, compare the screen with any reputable brand tablet & make your own decision. Have a look at the flimsy proprietary charging port too and estimate how long it will last.

Do Archos still want you to pay extra for the codecs to watch movies?

Banned

Most Archos kit isn't fit for purpose tbh.

Prob yes, and don't forget while you are holding the tab to watch the movie, your fingers will be pressing into the back of the screen causing it to distort!
