An entry level laptop at low prices in Asda Morley - online prices everywhere seems to be upwards of £150 or thereabouts. Wont be blazing fast or anything, but good for basic entry level work I would think.

Massive credit to the OP at the ExtremeCouponing group who spotted this earlier and shared it on the group

Also CEX are buying it for £70 - credit @JohnnyFwaa so if it doesn't work for you, some money to be made possibly

"the ARCHOS 140 Cesium is powerful gaming platform."

Uh...
There is a point at which no matter how cheap something is its still not worth it, 2gb/32gb is i think a step too far...
This is a terrible laptop not even worth using for free.
I am sure the only reason this product exists is to sit on supermarket shelves and lure uninformed people into buying it on the basis "Oh look a £50 laptop, they want 10 times that for any laptop in Curry's". They will buy this, use it twice, find out its unusable and go back to browsing internet on their phones instead.

What a piece of junk.

Less than a Win10 original key not bad.

It's an instore deal mate as says on the title of the deal. I added the link just for specs.
OK If your desperate for a laptop and only want new I guess. Personally I think the money would be better spent towards a faster used Ex-Corp machine from one of the many refurb companies
I recently wiped and loaded Elementary OS on an old/similar spec small laptop. Useful to help learn and play with Linux in free time sitting on sofa.

Then again no guarantee the hardware will support Linux. Still, voted hot as a little learning device for young kids.
Would be good as a browsing/email extra laptop to do school work at home for younger ones. Obviously it will have its limitations.

Yes thats what m thinking, as a basic entry level spare laptop, at this price it can't harm It wont run anything fancy for sure, but will do the occasional emails, todo list and a game of soliataire/minecraft
Good price but I'm not sure this would even be use able?

Better bet will be a Chromebook as many schools now use Chromebooks
I know it says instore only but tried adding it to my home delivery and its price is coming up as £179.....
This is a terrible laptop not even worth using for free.

Tears, frustration and foaming at the mouth is all that will happen when the kids realise fortnite won't play on this powerful gaming platform 😡😡😡
As others have commented this wouldn't be worth it if it was free, it's just going straight to landfill. Better off spending £100 on an old ex-business laptop with decent build quality/processor/ram.

Windows 10 on 2GB of ram

On 1GB it works. Not very well but 2GB is adequate. This will be fine as a school laptop or someone wanting one for occasional use. It is well worth £54. It is at £100+ when one womders if 2nd hand would be better.

Oof! Those reviews are not good. Issues with battery and overheating? On the face of it, a good deal though for the cash.
Chromium installation perhaps? Does it have any extra memory slots? M2?

Near no one review at Asda unless an item is rubbish. And on the 2nd page it is well rated.
You get 12 months warranty!
Voted hot! Yes 2GB RAM and Win10 don't look very good together. However, you don't need to use Win10. I can't believe people are complaining even at this price. Yes, a bargain is not a bargain if the product is useless, but this could be ok as a first laptop for a child or for an elderly person for basic use.
Voted hot, bargain!
It's a cheap tablet with a keyboard for browsing the internet. Stop treating it like it's some terrible laptop. It'll do what it's for
We have a four year old equivalent to this. Was just too slow at the time. Now trying to resurrect it to see if I can use it for anything fun eg 1980s MAME or similar.

It has 2gb/32gb just like this.

It’s now stuck in an eternal cycle of trying to upgrade windows, saying there is no space, choosing to use a usb to update, rebooting, staying at 0% for 2 hours, rebooting, saying the update failed... then starting the update etc etc
Good lord, I bought Linx 7 tablet in 2013 or so that has this CPU. Don't buy this now.
ditch windows 10, and install cloudy ready (Chromium) it will run like a dream on this hardware spec.....

Good price to run a Chromium laptop

I agree, you can pick up a quad core Thinkpad for around £250
This Archos is literally money down the toilet. After using it for half an hour it will get get thrown into the back of a drawer ....

Does it have a genuine serial port?

I need something cheap to use software that requires a serial port - this would be ideal

Which refurb companies? Tried looking online couldn’t find any
I would buy it, would immediately do the windows USB recovery, then would download something like Puppy Linux or other similar minimal Linux distro and then would convert this laptop into a sort of chromebook. 32gb with windows 10 I wouldn't risk to keep it ongoing, better the Linux way.
For those who are looking to install Linux or a fork of chromeOS - the baytrail soc only supports 32bit UEFI and will be fiddly to get it installed.

I have good experience with the baytrail platform as I had a linx tablet and currently using a minipc as a steam box

If you do a clean install and do run the PC decraptifier script it is actually OK. You may have to tweak the thermals to make sure the CPU can hit turbo. I needed to put a silicone pad in pipo X7 to get stop the throttling.

This can also be achieved by downvolting you can Google it.

As in battery it will likely to be rubbish. Baytrail is quite buggy in terms of power management. Build quality can't expect it to be good.
