When was this ever £250?

Didn't think it had gone out of stock ?

Any way this is the main thread for the Archos so will be worth reading through for anyone thinking of buying it. Which i would as it is a steal..

would a £25 code work for this (the code we all got for the ipad mess up)?

At £250 this is expensive.
At just under a ton this a good deal. Wouldn't mind getting one for xmas myself.

I have an old version of this, great device!

This still seems a little out of my price range, but does anyone know much about the Archos 7 Home Tablet? Is it easy enough to root it onto Android 2.2/2.3, and is it a decent step up from the Disgo 6000 - which although is pretty awful, does do most of what I want it to do so can't really complain at £50!

Yes - just ordered one myself and used the code.

what is the code? where can i find it? can you give me link plz?

Actually there is no code. For some people who ordered iPads earlier in the year and were let down by CPW they issued a £25 credit against their account for use in 2011. I was looking for something decent to use the credit against - so this looks like a good present for my nephew.

I got one a month or so ago for my Daughter's Christmas present (won't be able to write such secrets next Christmas). I've only charged it up, installed Arctools and set up the gmail account but it seemed to work fine. The screen is responsive and while it may not break any speed records it is a definite goer for someone's introduction to the world of tablets.

Oops, forgot to say I got £5.00 quidco.

Quidco and TCB are now only paying 1% cash back.

if only it had GPS

This went out of stock for only 1 day and the old thread is still valid - Have bought 4 of these now for Client's christmas gifts - they are excellent value and great tools
Recommend these apps - Launcher Pro / Arctools (to give you Android Market)

Where did you put in the code please?

I bought the wife one of these after I'd bought myself the excellent Archos 101 tablet and she found it more or less unusable due to the lag/unresponsive screen. She was spoilt by using the 101 in all fairness but the 101 (IMO of course) is vastly better than the smaller version and definitely worth the £50 extra. Also, when I bought the 70 from CPW (back in July) it was only £75.

Are you sure your not talking about the Archos 7 which was sold back in July for that price.

The Archos 70 has a capacitive screen, the Archos 7 which was selling previously had a resistive screen.

I went into a branch of CPW and changed the £25 credit into a £25 itunes voucher:)

Great if you use iTunes. I won't touch Apple stuff though. I guess I could have done that and then sold it on though.

Your talking about the archos 7 definately NOT this model

Warning: it's a perfectly good tablet for the price and deserves to be voted hot, however, anyone who's ever used a premium tablet should know that the screen isn't in the same league and has relatively poor viewing angles (obviously better than the Advent Vega, but much, much worse than the Touchpad).

been in stock for weeks - already been posted. OP is just being a plank and reposting a deal

Does anyone know if you can get a keyboard to hook upto this? Was looking at getting my mum a netbook just for browsing would this be a suitable alternative?

Thanks for the tip!

Just ordered one of these – if anyone else could provide any hints and tips for a new user, it would be greatly appreciated.

That is true as a lot of people seem to be getting to two confused. Plus to speed up things on the 70 go to power management and change to the max power setting.

As someone said, you probably had the "archos 7 home tablet". This is the "Archos 70 internet tablet". It's a stupid naming convention by archos. The archos 7 has a resitive touch screen and is absolutely awful. This has a capcitive touch screen and is far better but still not great. The archos 101 and 70 are identical apart from the screen size.

One thing I would say about this archos 70 is that it is great for watching videos on and playing simple games. The screen is fairly responsive but not in the same league as the higher end android tablets or ipads. You will go to scroll down a page and it will open a link instead of just scrolling or you will be playing Plants VS Zombies and your plant will go in the wrong square etc. It is perfect for kids or for using mainly as a media player (the kick stand is great for long plane journeys) with some occasional browsing. If you are aware of its limitations then this is a hot deal. It blows all other £100 tablets out of the water.

I returned mine 'cause it was utter poo.

LOL he probably just wants the attention

I'd be interested to know this also.

can i use the £25 CPW voucher and potential £15 cashback - cant see how to use my voucher online?

I've had one since January, use it every day on my commute to watch movies etc. Viewing angles are poor, but that's fine, it's just me watching it. It's fairly cheap construction, but that also makes it lightweight and easy to hold with one hand.

Nice edit regarding calling me a plank, BTW the link you have posted was from 3weeks+5days ago, and if you bothered to read some of the posts in that thread some of the posters missed out due to it going OOS, me included. Thats why I have started a new thread stating "back in stock" for those that missed out on the original deal and for new members who were not aware of the deal from a month ago which went temporary OOS. Think I will keep deals to myself in the future.

You Have to phone in your voucher to order which I have just done, he advised it would be delivered tommorow and I have up till 9-1-2012 to return it if I am not happy

If you use this on line etc would you need anti virus software on it? If so any recommendations?
Thanks:)

Is the Archos 101 worth the extra £50 quid? Whats better value?
