Please note: This is over £200 everwhere else. The Staples deal is wrong (I have checked). The one at Staples is for the old 7 version. I checked the name on the box and Staples told me it said "home tablet" and this is a "internet tablet".

Looks to be £200 plus elsewhere as far as I can see, so heat added.

Note: min. delivery charge £5.90, so delivered price is £161.90.

Oops, scrub that, just found its £129 at Staples, so should have voted cold, especially as its Pixmania.....

Are you sure its the same on because I have looked on Ebay and there is one called the same but looks different. Also, its 7 not 70?

Has Staples put a wrong pic?

Hi, sorry, I didn't realise the Staples one is out of stock, as you only get an out of stock message when you click to buy it, don't know if they would have stock in local branches if you really want one, worth a phone call, I suppose.

Yes, its definitely the same one: if you scroll down to the description, it states that it is the Archos 70 and the features exactly match Pixmania.

Some companies do have a tendency to list out of stock items at dead cheap prices, on the basis that it doesn't cost them anything and if that's the case her then I apologise, Speedy1477, I should have checked further first......

I have been tracking this on Staples for a few weeks now and they have never had stock of this and I have even spoken to a Branch Manager who is dubious as to whether it is an error on the website, as most details point towards an Archos 70, but the title and price lean more towards an Archos 7. In my opinion, this Pixmania price is very good. Heat added, thanks OP

RE: Staples If it turns out to be the 70 not the 7 then fantastic Deal, failing that this is still hot was playing with it in Pcworld 2 hours ago and £60 more

Lol, I wasn't the one who actually posted the Staples deal.

All I did was to mention that Staples were advertising the Archos 70 for £129, I hope you don't blame me for Staples not knowing their ar$e from their elbow! - no hard feelings?

For those not liking to deal with Pixmania, Amazon now has the Archos 70 listed at £161.90 (inc. postage), but stating usually despatched in 1 - 3 weeks, so it seems like Archos may have reduced their prices to retailers.- FIGHT -

amazon.co.uk/ARC…1-9

Updated 10:43 Price now showing on above link on Amazon as £212.99

Edited by: "giltbrook" 5th Dec 2010

if you google archos 70, the page with the best deals will come up,

google.co.uk/pro…wAg

if you click on it giltbrook, the amazon price that you state first does appear, but once you click on the link, you find the latter price with the Amazon's marketplace vendors... could it be that it is out of stock in amazon?
or soon to be changed the price and details but released their new price first?
BTW, it's now out of stock in Pixmania... I managed to order one when it was in stock, but now I'm worried I won't get it for xmas and it as all misleading!
Edited by: "zyany" 5th Dec 2010

The original Amazon £161.90 price was through Amazon themselves, so it is possible that it has now gone out of stock, just leaving the Marketplace vendor's price as available. These price reductions are looking good but I am not diving in yet, I will hang back to see if any other offers appear.

Out of stock now.

I ordered while in stock, checked this morning and its showing as oos on my account and pixmania have put the price up to £221.99.

Up to their usual tricks from the looks of it, I'm glad I paid with Paypal now just in case they decide to mess me about enough to cancel the order.

I also ordered while in stock at £161,

i emailed them when i noticed it said out of stock when i checked the order process.. they said that my order was "prepared" so it would be dispatched soon..

fingers crossed!

anyone else actually receive an archos 70 from pixmania? at the £161 price?

OOS - expired

Oh no!... does that mean that they do try to give you a refund and cancel your order so that they don't honour the price?
What is the advantage of paying with paypal?

I also ordered at £161 while it was in stock, and my order also shows as oos... I have the suspicion that they'll try to give me a refund

No it means that someone has decided that this thread has expired because the item is out of stock, so it is no longer a good offer as there is no stock to supply.

The vendor has also increased the price of the item, as kelbag1974 explained. Pixmania is now advertising this tablet as £226.90 inc. pp.

I emailed them to check I'd still get it and they emailed back to say that it was all wrapped up ready to go but no sign of a dispatch yet.

They're gonna hate me, I'll be on their backs every minute I get til they send this out.

I'm going to follow your example and use some pester power on them to get mine too.
no refunds if they offer.

I've just been told they have none in stock and no plans to get any back in stock so would I like a refund into my PIxy Piggi account?

Er no, I want my Archos at the price I paid and if not back into my paypal account not into some stupid account they hold on my behalf and I'd be forced to use this shower again.

Absolutely disgusted it's taken them 4 days to tell me they havent got it after telling me it was packed and ready to go.

I thought they couldn't be as bad as the reviews said but yes indeed they are.

haven't got this message....yet, I imagine!
did they give you the choice to wait until is back in stock?
Edited by: "zyany" 8th Dec 2010

No I didn't get any choice.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your e-mail.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

In regards to your order this order has failed as unfortunately your product is not in stock at the moment, with no stock due back in.

If you wish we can refund you into your Pix Piggy Account and you can then place a new order, or you can ask for a full refund at anytime.

Please inform us how you wish to proceed.

I sent another message saying I wanted a refund and got some strange message back about how it was still going through validation.

I think they would have got the gist of how upset and angry I am from the 3rd mail I sent them

I received this email but as I had 2 seperate orders with them (both for Archos 70 8gb) I was unsure what order it referred to as both orders were showing on my account as out of stock. Then out of the blue I've received another email to say the item has been dispatched quoting a DHL tracking ref 8).

Me too, now the parcel appears out for delivery. Sceptical me is still waiting to see if it is the right tablet, but things are lookin up.

I'm really sorry Kelbag1974.
They give you this email address to arrange the return of your item if you are not happy

currys_uk@pixmania.com

but it shows that they are part of the Currys group. Maybe you can email them and complain and demand that they honour their price whenever is back in stock.

Update: I got it this morning, it is as advertised. Won't review it yet as I'll open it on xmas day
Edited by: "zyany" 9th Dec 2010

Yeah I got my refund this morning, tbh it's prob a good thing as just found out (sneakily) that OH has bought me one for xmas. Let's see if the £7 quidco stays in my account like the £5 from the tv deal that fell thru did

Congrats!... is it this one you are getting or which one?
at least it's not all lost if you get to keep you quidco money!

I'm not sure, I didn't have enough time to check which one it was I just know it's an Archos 70 so all's well that ends well.

I get my archos 70, £7 cashback and I've learnt a lesson about dealing with Pixmania.

Thumbs up all round I think
