shame there were never any "real" updates. No "real" rom work either. Could have been a great tablet.

Thats the ARCHOS 80 Titanium

It's ok for the money and a custom rom improves it no end but the screen is a bit meh.

not national, pity, i got one on the boxing day deal for my laydee and always regretted not getting one for myself at that price

Picked up one for my 5 year old a few months back. Great for the price.

This is an in store deal.

Should 'touch screen' be classed as a feature? How else would the tablet work?

Its all about the price this is a cracking tablet "for the price"

Walken Extra... Sweet FA...

Good deal... Rubbish branch!

Got my boy one on Boxing Day and for the price it's excellemt. A Samsung might be better but I guess you won't get one for £59 (or £50 as was). Heat added.

indeed there are some bugs within the Rom, but on this price is a bargain
most of the games work fine
there are some issues with the WiFi (not a strong signal)
the screen is a little gray, also the visibility in some angles is horible

for a kid is must have, for an adult is a no go as daily device

I bought two of these at Christmas. Theyre ok, Wifi not returning after sleep is a pain.
Screen is gash. Speed is not too bad. Cant seem to stream anythign from youtube for more than a few mins before it starts buffering and video support in the browser is poor.

I would say though that the Nook HD 7" at 99 quid is a better bet.

As for Archos... Never again I'm afraid. You need a company to support a device like this with fixes. They've fixed next to nothing in it. Some poor update a few months back that didnt even fix the wifi issue.

I've had one of these since New Years Eve last year, and after 7 months of casual use, it's just not that good.

It crashes very often, the colours of the screen are washed out all the time, and if it needs to update any apps, it takes ages to update.

My advice is spend a few more pennies and buy a well known brand tablet (as there's more chance of getting a replacement if anything goes wrong.)

I cannot fault mine that I got around Xmas last year comparing it to my son's NATPC tablet of equivalent spec, mine has a better display and more solid feel. Does crash occasionally but I would buy it again at the price.

Hardly a groundbreaking update for UK users, but at least it does indicate some support early 2013:

I wouldn't bother update mine from the re-partitioned Supersport custom ROM:

I've not followed any custom ROM developments for the Cobalt 80 recently. Anyone know of any since Feb 2013?

I think they gave up, not enough demand probably.
there is a post on here that gives lots of tweaks for some of the issues

got this on boxing day for £49. unless you're a complete moron, you won't be disappointed with this tablet for the price. yeah there are a couple of bugs and little niggles (most of which can be sorted with the guide on this thread) but what more can you expect from a tablet that costs less than some of the iPad cases currently available on the market?! if you're after a tablet on a budget, look no further.

Have a look on this thread Here its a bit long but you should be able find what you want from the first page

Have to laugh, I posted this at sub £20 and it went Arctic cold.

I got one on boxing day and its been excellent. Highly recommend it. You dont need a custom ROM, factory reset gives you the option for a vanilla install.

I will check it this evening.
Many Thanks

Just a heads up, Tesco Bletchley haven't had this tablet for over a month.

Did the update (archos stock) on the lads tablet (xmas deal at £50) the other week and he said it made a big difference.

At fifty small ones I still say it was best tablet bargain I' ve seen to date. May the clever/dumb balance continue......

Got one last month. Main niggle (post updating firmware) is that the screen flicker when viewing sites with an off-white colour.

Also the charging port now requires an elastic band to hold the charger adaptor in place.

Bought one on boxing day it's ok, but sold it a few months later as it was a bit buggy and the flicker mentioned above. You get what you pay for, good price but I think you'll soon get fed up of it.

Mine hardly crashes at all since I rooted it and froze Chrome. Suppose you could also uninstall it but that might cause problems down the line. Opera Mobile works a lot better, even with loads of tabs open.

It has more than its fair share of quirks (recently all my apps on SD vanished coz it has trouble telling the internal SD from the external SD) but most of them can be worked around (the aforementioned problem can be avoided by taking the SD card out before powering-on)

At this price, I'd recommend it

You really must be mistaken. They are in no way worth anywhere near 249, even the most dodgy seller wouldnt attempt to get away with that price.

I think he must have hit the 2 instead of the £, they are probably just selling off the older stock
