For all you lucky HUKDealers out there who managed to get a half price Archos 605 wifi Player, wishing to purchase a Archos DVR GEN5 Station.

Argos are currently running a promotion were if you buy the Archos DVR GEN5 Station with any compatible Archos player they will give you an extra £20 pounds off. As the Station is already discounted by £20 to £49.99, this will take it down to £29.99

However please not when trying this on the Argos website this was not rectified in the price. Therefore I contacted the head office and after a long debate they said that they would be honouring this in store. Therefore to get this deal you must go to a store that has stock.

Therefore buy the Archos 405 2GB MP4 Player @ £89.99 and the Dock at the same time and the will honour the both for £109.99 (Store Only). Then all you need to do is take back the Archos 405 2GB MP4 Player back to Argos and get a refund only for the player (£79.99). (Please note the Archos 405 2GB MP4 Player must be kept in it's cellophane wrapper).

Now here's the best bit, do the above before November 4th and Argos will give you a £10 gift card for spending over £100, which you can keep even after getting a refund.

Therefore by following the above method you will be able to get the Archos DVR GEN5 Station for a final outlay of £20. Cheapest you will get anywhere.

Tricky I know, but worth ago for any risk taking HUKDealer.

Nice bargin, thanks. Shame I missed out on the Player though.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but have you done this yourself? Will they not ask you to return both items or take back the £20 they discounted for the dock?

Dodgy deal:whistling:

Hi,

Yeah I have and I wasn't asked to return both. They just had to check with the manager if they could refund as its a non 30 day money back gaurentee item (due to data protection, due to HD)but as it was still wrapped they said no probs.

Receipt also listed each item seperately, therefore it wasn't obvious that they were bought in a deal.

Looking at the Archos walkman: Please note that this product is excluded from our 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. This does not affect your statutory rights.

No good for me. I'm not running the risk to save £20 on something I don't really need. Use pc with tv card as PVR and use free software to convert.

Waiting for the 609 to come out at end of november

the archos 5 is already out. **** this, i love my archos 5 250gb

Yep, sorry, exclusion from 30 day guarantee kills the deal for me too, it may have been honoured in your case; but I imagine other store managers may not be as gracious.

As stated only excluded due to the Archos player having a Hard Disk and them not wanting to break Data Protection Laws (See Website). As always if you have not opened the product, your statuary rights allow you to return for a full refund. Therefore no manager should refuse.

There is no statutory right to a refund if purchased from store if you change your mind - only if goods are faulty
