So do they work or are you epileptic?
Not voting as daylight lamps(bulbs) can have a similar effect for a fraction of the price. hotukdeals.com/dea…342
I use LED, these 10 Watt Bayonet lamps are £3.90 each if buying 4 or less(delivered), they emit around 800 Lumens(not 420 as on the website).

Yeah but this type of light wakes you up, why would you want them in your house on a night? You go to bed feeling wide awake and sit there at 3am getting in the "I cant get to sleep bad mood"

I don't see any mention of timer. I use daylight lamps in most of my home, getting to sleep has rarely been an issue. Night starts early up here, my mentality benefits from the daylight extension.
I ave one next to my bed and switch on when my alarm goes off, it does help wake you up BUT if people have the light bulbs in normal lights I think it would keep me awake. When I walk the dog a woman has them and sits by the window reading and they are bright.
Important note: If you intend to use this for any kind of depression it needs to be 10,000 lux minimum (advised by my psyxhiatrist). Whilst this one refers to this figure, it does not say that this one is 10,000 lux.

Great price if it is 10,000 lux, I paid £100+ for mine.

Thanks-I've checked the manufacturer's website and it is 10,000 LUX. See here: beurer.com/web…-40
Can you just leave this switched on all day? Or is it only supposed to be used for certain intervals of time? I've got a small bedroom and I'd actually like to use this as an all-purpose light-source.

I think you can leave it on all day, but obviously of no benefit unless you are in the room, within a certain distance of it.
Thanks OP!

They are designed to be sat in front of for a set interval. 15 to 30 mins a day is ideal.

You also need to sit fairly close for it to be effective as the lux level drops the further you get.

10000 lux is the magic number but can not be used to compare lamps.
Some lamps produce 10000 lux @ 15cm where some produce 10000 lux at well over that.
It's usually hidden in the manufacturers specs.
For instance the lumie arabica is 10000 lux at 25cm. Spend £50 more for the Brazil which outputs 10000 lux at 35cm.

Not sure on the specs of this lamp but be prepared to get pretty close. Sitting it beside a computer monitor and surfing net in morning with a coffee works for me.

Great things if used correctly.
I got one of these last year. Not sure how much difference it made, but even if it's a placebo effect it's better than nothing. The manual says to spend a short interval next to it each day, increasing that interval the farther away the light is. I have daylight LEDs in my bedroom as it is (coincidentally rather than as well as) and any mention of them being as "good" as this is nonsense. The brightness of this 30cm away is incomparable to having some ceiling lights above you.
I was sad before. But since my new purchase, I have a new job, an Italian villa, model girlfriend, a Ferrari and a film coming out. This bulb in a box changed my life.

Model girlfriend you say, not the sort you inflate and then pack away when not using?
what is wrong with people these days.... depression because it's dark outside!?!? catch a grip!
10000 lux at 15 to 20 cm! in reality its going to be sitting at least double or triple that ! so how long do you need to sit for each treatment time ?

Clinically proven, and countries with longer nights have higher suicides... But your advice equally sound!
Ordered thanks! Just got a call from them asking if I have asthma. I said no and they said it should arrive tomorrow. Just a heads up to anyone who ordered but doesn't like answering random numbers.

so up to 40 cm means sitting in front of this lamp for 2 hours each morning. Up to 20cm is 30 mins. the video demonstrates 20 cm while holding it about 60cm away not sure if these lights work or not but you'll need a desk job to get the treatment time in. The blu lights are apparently better and have a more realistic treatment time of 20 mins at 60 cm but stupidly expensive new. The manufacturer's of these cheaper lights aren't very forth coming with distance etc for a reason. it would be good to hear some user opinions from the buyers here.

They do work well if you actually do suffer from seasonal affective disorder. You will know if every winter you have low energy and mood.

Personaly I work shifts and my body clock is all over the place during winter. Using this in morning or night before work helps massively for me.
Thanks OP, bought!
Ordered this last night and got a phone call from the seller today asking if it had been purchased for anyone with a long term illness.

I asked why they needed to know and the woman said if it was purchased for someone with an illness then they don't charge VAT on the sale.

I asked would I still be charged £29.99 if VAT wasn't charged and she said yes, so I told her it wasn't for someone with an illness.

I find it quite strange that the seller is calling customers and asking questions. Somebody earlier in this thread had a phone call from the seller asking if they had asthma. Totally bizarre.

I assume that there is a VAT exemption when a business sells goods to someone with a longterm/chronic illness, by phoning and asking the question the business can make an extra £5 profit per item.

What I think is wrong is we still get charged £29.99 even if they claim the exemption.

This exemption should benefit the customer by giving them a lower price!
says £39.99 now :'(
