How does this compare to … How does this compare to http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/bush-wooden-dab-radio-24-99-argos-2731631 ?

Looking at the specs on Argos, this one has 4Watts RMS compared to 3 for the other, plus a personal headphone socket but does not mention RDS scrolling text. Perhaps it is the updated model?

Edit, if you download the pdf file at the foot of the "additional information" then it would appear that scrolling text on some DAB stations IS available. So a slightly more powerful (hence potentially louder) version of the other one you linked to, with a headphone socket. Generally positive comments too, so a good deal by the looks of it. Hope that helps

The alternative deal's justifcation of value is based on its selling price at Amazon of £36 / £39, so this Walnut item is far better as it is £69.99 on Amazon. But seriously: most buyers can comprehend the irrelevant concept of buying tat from Argos and reselling at a higher price on Amazon. In context: Argos do not mention walnut "effect" or "simulated Walnut" finish, so this radio's housing might be a nice item of real wood. Maybe not...

apologies for stupid question but would this work overseas? thinking as a gift to my father in law in Moscow.

Great thank you. Now have a use for £10.00 giftcard. Bargain. Heat.

No DAB+ . The Median radio I posted earlier was cheaper than this with DAB+

not real wood i'm sure - more than likely this will be a laminated "walnut effect" prone to peeling in a years time

Bought one of these a few weeks back, really pleased with it for the price, looks good and loud enough for the kitchen,

Are you sure or just going on the downloaded manual? Reason I ask is that I got this one over 2 years ago:

hotukdeals.com/dea…115

And it has DAB+ but no mention of it on the box or manual.
If anybody has one the easy way to check is to see if Union Jack is in your list of stations.
I bought a cheapo radio from CPC for work 6 years ago & that has DAB+

Nice one.. Been waiting for this to reach a suitable price.

Do you still get all the DAB stations listed on the link below with the exception of the 4 DAB+ stations Jazz FM, Magic Chilled, Jazz FM & Fun Kids? That will be definite proof of the lack of DAB+ on this radio.

en.wikipedia.org/wik…tal

There are only those 4 DAB+ stations in existence so no great loss.
You'll also notice that all the DAB stations on there are Mono & DAB+ is stereo.

The UK's adoption of DAB was a mistake as it's 1980s technology using MP2 compression. DAB+ is more widely used in europe. With a good signal FM stereo sounds far better than original DAB. Weak signal on FM is a bit of hiss, on DAB you get bubbling mud.

Ive never seen the Christian station or Premier Praise (not that i've looked) but the rest are on this radio.

Picked up one of these today, it will be going back.
Very cheap build quality and poor tuning tuning capability.
I cannot even pick up TalkSport, where my Pure and Roberts DAB radios do with ease.
Not even worth £25, more like a £9.99 purchase with 10 gallons of petrol.

I bought one 2 weeks ago, no problems. Bargain at £25 and works good with batteries also.

Just bought one - seems good to me. Plenty of DAB stations and the sound is much better than I thought it would be.
