Update 21st Dec 18:30PM

There are a few left in stock of the later HP, please all feel free to reserve one and try the "show the thread & hp links" i have put at the end of the thread > the featured price is now £379 on the site and £379 at the till [4 stores checked] BUT as stated someone, 2 hours ago, got one at £349 :-)

HAPPY CHRISTMAS FROM ARGOS *** Update 16:30PM

Ok, after a lot of messing around on the phones, a few tweets, I have just confirmed 100% that any of the purchases from the £349 leaflet will be £349, thus if you have reserved one, the till price from the store is £349, this will NOT work online it is in store only and you WILL need to ask the manager.

So this is a LIVE deal, even if you get the newer CPU version, it is still a cracking price at £379. This will only work if the store has the original stock and you show them the image of the price of £349, it MAY NOT work in all stores, but it has just worked in Cambridge :-)

If you do not ask, you might not get, also try and get the later CPU model as it costs more at RRP!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

£££ UPDATE 21st DEC - 14:00PM £££ **
After waiting an age for Argos HQ or anyone to get back, I have had it confirmed that ANYONE that has reserved the Argos item in this deal up until 11:59PM 20th Dec and COLLECTS it or has it HOME DELIVERED, will get the item at £349!! So please do NOT pay £399!!!

Within the hour, I will also try and confirm, that IF you have the offer leaflet, that has the item in it, at the £349 price, that Argos will, subject to manager approval in store, STILL sell you the item if they have stock! As there are 2 models involved and they are trying to move the goalposts, it will be very polite of them to sell the item as advertised, regardless.

Be nice to the manager when you ask, as some later buyers in this thread have done and you will no doubt get a result. If you are late to the party, use the CAT to find stock, put your best lippy on or gel that hair back guys, bit of a flirt and you could save the big £50!

*** £££ ****

Stock update 20th DEC - 19:00PM

All MANCHESTER area stores now OOS, apart from Hulme who have 2
All CARDIFF area stores now OOS
All GLASGOW area stores now OOS, apart from Stockwell who have 1
All CORNWALL area stores OOS, apart from St Austell who have 3

£££ UPDATE 20th DEC - 15:00PM £££

It seems that a number of Argos stores are now sold out, especially in the south, of 34 stores called & 24 checked using the argos.ie instock checker, only 4 had 4 in stock, most said NONE or 1 or 2 left from 10+ held earlier today. PLEASE post if you find stock!

There also seems to be an issue with getting the £349 at some stores [3 purchasers from our GB Streetclub] 2 of which, even after speaking with the manager, would NOT sell it for £349... only the listed £399 > IF you cannot get it in store for £349 to REFER to this Thread on HUKD, as I have made Argos HQ aware of the failure to supply goods at the advertised price. They also said they have had a massive surge in buyers of these 2 models... DOH!

Good Luck if you get one guys and gals, if you DO let us all know :-)

***** UPDATE 20th DEC *****

Ok, after a bit more digging and actually going to get one as a gift early this morning >>>> PLEASE NOTE <<<<
The Original Spec and Laptop advertised [as in this deal] is CORRECT... however, it seems that Argos have made a clanger, so TAKE advantage of it!

The HP model, as in CAT # 139/3431 has the later 4th Gen i5-4200U 1.6 Haswell CPU, this model has been priced from 499 to 399, HOWEVER, the earlier HP model: 15-e096sa was STILL being sold... which is why SOME buyers got it...

To get the SPANKY new version, make sure you look at the BOX for: 15-n013sa

+++ There were roughly 10 NEW ones per store for the deal flyer > after speaking with 15 stores around the UK, there seems to be on average 2-3, which will GO today! If you cannot get the NEW NEW one, the one in this deal is still a cracking deal and in all honesty, not that much slower, it is was made by HP in 1st Qtr of 2103 , so if you get the slightly older stock, still well worth it +++

************ Only pay £349 NOT £399! *****************

Will have a look for any other codes or instore vouchers that can be used with it.

Had stock for both Click & Reserve and Home Delivery, but I am guessing the home delivery option will stop later today.

Might suit someone looking for a mid range, reliable laptop at a good price.

One day deal until when ? Is it just for today ? It's still lists as 399 on the Argos site.

Says £349 for me...

Was just about to post this, seems a good buy for an i5 laptop, hot!

Fairly "average" laptop.
Didn't vote either way.

More importantly (and more surprisingly for an Argos deal) it's in stock in 4 out of 5 of my closest stores.

In stock at Fosse Park too...
Reserved, now a day to decide whether its worth it....
Any input?

HEAT OP

I'd say it is worth about £350 so it's the right price.

Just checked with HP to confirm that this CAN be upgraded to 8.1 without all the fuss of backup images etc etc.

Could not find a top brand with this spec similar, even on T'Bay, for this price, so still think it is a cracking price for Xmas

Seems to be very few reviews or actual buyers feedback, anywhere, I think mainly due to the fact that it is a newer model, the cpu was released in March 2013 and seems to be in a number of later model, mid-range laptops.

Also noticed that you get 1 years Universal Music Collection access for free, via the HP software bundle.

Will update if my gogogadgets find anything else :-)

Anybody know the battery life? cheers

Exclusively, consistently bad experiences with HP/compaq laptops personally. not worth the hassle, even at this semi-decent price.

Very good deal. HP are fine as a manufacturer. Better than most out there. Many of my clients use HP notebooks.
The price is at i3 level and an excellent buy.

Heat added.

Seems like you have been very unlucky, in business and pleasure, both hard work and messing around, apart from a few driver issues, never had any HP issues with laptops. Do no know anyone else either, HP are one of the worst for driver releases and updates, but this stems back to the HP 500 inkjet days!

Exactly what I thought, did find 1 other i5 but it was a rubbish make and £144 dearer :-) Hope Miss Christmas brings me a new Envy this year :-)

£499 - No Way.

£349 - would have thought about it, if it had a DVD drive!!

£299 & I'd go for it.....

I don't think this is worth it actually. 4GB RAM and no dvd drive?

This does look like a good deal. I've reserved one for now. Thanks

A core i5 laptop for £349 is actually a very good deal so heat from me!

50 quid down on similar spec from a year ago , and its christmas

Nothing astounding here

I got a

4th Generation Intel® Core™ i5 Processor
Windows 8
6GB of RAM
750GB Hard Drive

Dell laptop for £349, im sure the deal will be back on their site within a week or so ^_^

Have reserved one and will see how this thread pans out!

It does have an optical drive as far as I can see, contrary to the statement a few above me.

Yes, it says so here:

"Optical drive
SuperMulti DVD±R/RW with double layer support"

So any more thoughts if it's that great of a deal or not?

I think it's good but with sales imminent there will surely be other deals to rival or better this very soon, and personally I would rather buy from a different dealer than Argos.

I bought one of these today and got a different model, it was a 15-n013sa and had the same specs as this but had a Harwell i5 4200U processor in it.

Agggh auto correct I ment Haswell

I bought this today from Argos and got a different model than this, I got a 15-n013sa, it has a haswell CPU in it core i5 4200U

Pretty good if you bank with Lloyd's and can get 10% off in Argos as someone has just posted

This is looking like an even better deal now if it comes with a Haswell CPU

Hp business models are of much better quality than the standard user models from my experience. However, this a good price for haswell i5. Heat added!

Agreed. Not astounding, but an i5 for £350 aint bad at all.

I reckon this is about the best laptop deal I have seen recently amazon.co.uk/gp/…-21

Is there any way of knowing for sure whether we're getting the older i5 or the Haswell chip when we order it?

Undoubtedly there will be better deals in the sales, but right now I think that this is a good one. Even better if it's a haswell processor and more so if you're a Lloyd's customer.

Agreed on the Lenovo. Is there anything better out there for that price? (i.e. Dedicated graphics, etc).

Not a bad price at all for an i5 3rd gen. Fantastic if its 4th?

Usual laptop comments coming out, better for cheaper, not worth it etc. Why do most people not suggest or even post these amazing alternatives?

Reserve it....when you arrive ask for a view.
The side of the box will tell you what you are getting.

I saw 2 both were i5 4200U

Exempt from 30 day money back EVEN if not opened (The manager told me)

Have till 10pm tomorrow to decide.

@wames I wanted to know what I was buying too so I added to trolley on website and collect from store and then I asked at the counter if I could look at my reserved item to see if it was what I wanted.
They give you a customer view ticket so can look at it without paying anything
The product code is on the side of the box and I just googled it on my phone.

Still not sure about these 4th Gen U processors (Any U for that matter)

cpuboss.com/cpu…30M

I've reserved for tomorrow so will let you know which I get.
