Or Save £100.
A 10% discount is pretty crap.

But this isn't even a 10% discount.

This is "Give us a big sum of money and we'll give you a tiny bribe for you to come back and give us another load of your money! Oh and by the way it's valid for less than a month so many of you won't even spend it!"

This is the equivalent of an expensive restaurant offering "Buy a meal for 4 and we'll give you a free can of Coke... next time you come back... within the next three weeks..."

Completely ice cold.

Is it also available on buying gift cards?
So they still do that crappy thing? If you spend over £100 and get a £10 voucher, its two £5 vouchers which have an expiry date a month after each other?

I completely agree!
This is a good deal, supposedly, but I will never, ever, ever use Argos again after being royally **** over and messed about for 4 months last year. I purchased a SP4 at the time, as part of a promotion. The order went through, the money was taken, it said it was in stock, and I was to receive the voucher. Problems started there. I ordered for delivery. After the scheduled delivery date passed, they said the item was out of stock. They still had my money, I asked for a refund, but they said it was in stock for collection at a certain store. I went to collect, told it was out of stock. After paying transport costs, I contacted support again. I was promised a call back, of course, that was never received. They now told me that the item was never in stock. I asked when it would be back, they said in the next week, so I rearranged for delivery. I won't drag this on any longer than necessary. The same thing happened about 4 more times. They were utterly useless throughout, but the final straw was when I contacted support one more time and was told that the item was never going to be back in stock and had been discontinued. This was obviously untrue. A few more shambolic mishaps along the way, but I eventually received the item. The voucher, which they said they would post, never arrived. I haven't even bothered following it up because the ordeal that would follow isn't worth it.

I'd almost excuse the absolute ineptitude if their customer service were in any way polite or helpful. I work in customer service myself and with every encounter I was dumbfounded as to how these people were hired for the jobs they were doing. Beyond being clueless and unhelpful they were CONSISTENTLY apathetic and UTTERLY rude. I can't recall exactly what was said at one point, but it was along the lines of, after I was told she was going to hang up: "It was up to you to buy it with Argos so it's your own fault". I won't make that mistake again.

EDIT: Just want to say, the actual people on the floor. The in-store staff, working their **** off on minimum wage are genuinely decent, hard working people. They are the only reason to shop with Argos. I feel sorry that they are represented by utterly useless fools who couldn't give a ****.

Wow. So what was the outcome after writing to head office/financial ombudsman
this is like the DFS Sofa Sales always on
This was on a week ago! May have been two weeks but still!

Don't need anything from Argos at the moment. I'll check again when they have next month's voucher deal.
Anyone know what it means when it states Spend £50 - £99.99
in a single transaction between
26th April and 2nd May
and you'll receive a FREE £5 voucher code with your confirmation email to use on a ****(future online purchase)****** between
26th April and 24th May. Do you have to spend online or can it be used in store?
I believe purchasing and paying online for store collection counts.

It did last time anyway.

I get what you're saying.

But its still a deal, as they're offering something extra for nothing. And if you needed to buy something else within that month then its a bonus, isn't it?. Just because you probably don't need to buy twice from them within a month doesn't make it a ice cold deal. When the offer wasn't on, you'd still be paying the same price for the one item you only ever wanted to buy. So its not a poor deal in any way. But i get what you're saying, its a clever marketing trick to get customers to return to spend more money = win win for them.

Is it also available on buying gift cards?

No unfortunately. They got that one covered as you could keep repeating this until you ended with a gift card that had more money on it than you had actually spent getting it i.e money for free !
Nice idea though.

Good deal from me. Need a dyson hover and a tomtom.
Just spent £100 there yesterday *facepalm*.

They tend to put it on during bank holidays so it will probably be on again in a few weeks. We need a new mower, Argos has it cheapest so it makes sense to get the tenner ;).

Return the item(s), and buy them again...
Does anyone know if you can buy phone credit with your free voucher?
I feel they have upped most of the prices by at least 15% in order to give you 10% back.
bah spent £55 yesterday

It's on every time theirs a bank holiday due.

I contacted head office but never received a reply. Never bothered involving the ombudsman as I had moved abroad at that stage. When it finally was delivered I had to have someone else send the item on to me, because I was then informed they couldn't change the delivery, or they'd have to cancel the order and charge me the full non-discounted price.
Say I buy something for £50 and get a £5 voucher. If I return the item do I keep my £5 voucher?

No, if you don't have the voucher I believe they deduct the five pound from the refund.

The T&C's state they they DO deduct the voucher unless you present it unused when you return the item:

How much discount do you normally get at a high street shop on your next purchase? Let me guess 0%!
Don't be so bitter, it's a good deal if you're shopping there more than once

It's not a 10% discount, correct. It's up to 10%. It's not equivalent to buying a meal for 4 and being offered a free Coke on a future deal either. I'd say a cheap meal for 4 would cost £50 and a coke about £1.50 in the restaurant. This equates to a 3% 'discount', and it's tied to the purchase of another meal at a future date. The Argos offer is up to 10% value voucher which can be spent on anything, even something costing only £5 or £10. And you can spend it on the day you get it. Let's say you buy a tablet for £100. With the £10 voucher you can go and buy an SD card for your new purchase. A table? Buy some placemats. A bed? Buy a quilt cover.
It just takes a wee bit of thinking through. When you see how excited some people get over deals in here (£10 for 5 litres of beer is currently very popular) then this saving has to be worthwhile too.

Thanks, just checked the order email and there is a code. So I guess to use the voucher I will have to use argos online again?
I assume so. You could always use the fast track service to pay online and collect in store so you don't have to pay any delivery charge?
