Yep correct however, the system is not perfect and some people will manage this. But company policy is to take the amount off the refund if the original voucher is not ALSO returned.

No, only works instore. the catalogue number is already pre input on instore selection forms

Some stores still allow you to get the free vouchers if you buy Gift Vouchers.

If you pay by Nectar card (in points) does this still count?

Yes, I bought something with Nectar points last time and still got the voucher.

Your lucky that your duty manager allows this, I know my store (and other stores in the area) doesnt allow customers to give a charity donation to tip them over the required spend for a gift card, which I think is a good thing, as its just abusing the cause. However argos are selling plenty of SOB stock at the moment including disney books at a £1 and various other little stocking fillers like crayons and micro machines cars, you wont find these items online.

This is very unlikely now, all stores have been breifed on the t&c's, however at the moment, you could be lucky as you may be served by a xmas temp, however there is almost always a permanent member of staff behind them. :-D

Haha! Some people! :whistling:

Basically your reciept will be stamped at the till saying 'Gift Card Recieved', so if you bring an item back and it falls under the £100/£50 spend, the advisor will ask for your gift card back, or deduct £10/£5 from your refund!

It's not "abusing the cause", the charity doesn't know where the donation has come from and I'm sure they wouldn't care - as long as its legal.

It's win-win, the charity gets a small donation and the purchaser gets a £10 voucher.

I agree

Isn't it better you give the £1 to charity rather then buying a £1 book (which goes to argos).

Im just saying, my store would not allow people to give to charity just to make the transaction tip over the required spend, its not something I have put into force, but the duty manager doesnt allow it, and according to store support she is well within her right to refuse.

Maplins have let me buy a resistor for 15p to take me over their discount code limits. £3 off £50 spend etc. They dont like you doing it, but you are buying 2 of their products so it's hard to see how they can refuse.

The manager saw the assistant doing it for me once and quizzed what he was doing. He said that I "the customer" had specifically requested the 15p product and so let him carry on. I never bother taking the resistor but I suppose I could try sellling them on E-bay!

Back on topic... one of the cheaper items on Argos.. Visiq Body Fat Analyser with Fat Monitor!! 99p 442/9261 an ideal stocking filler for the wife or girlfriend! ( or hubby! ) :gift::oops:

It is also well within our right to provide better customer service where possible. In my store we would be encouraged to suggest charity donations for 4 main reasons....

1. Charity IS important.
2. Better customer service i.e. some customers unaware of the offer.
3. Our units (items sold in one day) is increased by chairty donations, therefore meeting unit targets.
4. Giving out vouchers is v. good for retaining customers i.e. customer loyalty!

I suppose it would depend on the view of a manager but all ours seem to be ok with it! It is a pain printing vouchers and gettin the customer to sign at this time of the year though eh? lol

I think the charity must vary from store to store (maybe regions). The default at ours is the British Heart Foundation.
