I don't know if other stores do this but Argos in Beckton will substitute DC44 for the V6 for the same price. Original price for V6 in Argos is £280.

Also get the £10 voucher deal for spending over £100.

Which i used on additional insurance so 4 years down the line i can get my money back minus the insurance money.

Not a large profit margin for reselling though.

Low-life.
Cant believe you spent £50 on 2 years extra warranty though !
Is this a yearly thing argos are doing? I ended up with a handheld and an upright last christmas

They generally substitute stock for better models when out of stock, have been doing this for years
Mmm I'd love a v6 for this price.........if only I knew where dc44 is oos
I had no idea Argos did this. Really good, almost too good to be true
how do you get your money back after 4 years. can you give us more detail?
Why is this cold? Don't vote cold without telling us where it is cheaper! Its really annoying!

You get the four year insurance and return it as not satisfactory then you should get a full refund but the insurance will be claimed for. So only the full price of the item which you originally paid for.
Alamo the dc44 can be had cheaper on ebay, however if you get the v6 then it's a good deal, unfortunately only way to check is to go to a argos and order one

They subbed DC44 for the V6 at Silverlink today and I heard from a colleague they he got the same from Team Valley (collection point inside Homebase.)
How does this work, have you got to order the dc44 then get there to find its out of stock?

Just collected mine from the team valley store, no problems at all.
Has DC44 on the receipt so I hope that doesn't cause any issues if I ever needed to claim under the 2 year warranty?
Might contact Dyson and ask, it even has the argos DC44 product number on the box.

ah thanks
good luck! Thou I am not that impressed with V6. I have DC35 animal and the efficiency is similar. Don't know if it's worth paying more for a bit more power

Just tried to get one at Argos Silverlink. Went to the till, asked for a DC44 and was told "sorry, it's out of stock sir." Wasn't offered a swap, upgrade or anything. I even enquired if there was anything else they could substitute it for, and was told there was the DC44 Origin or the V6, but both would cost approx. £100 more.

thanks after one of these so will try this tomorrow with reserve and collect
garmcqui reserve online 44 and collect hopefuly V6, thats how it works. At the till they can't do that
hi Lilou23 - how can I reserve online? Argos website saying it's out of stock at my store, won't let me reserve
garmcqui, than you can't. Try any other nearest shop with availability
price now back up to 279
I reserved at £189 will they honor that still?

Edit: They did honor it when i picked it up, i also had to remind them about the free £10 voucher as that stopped last night.

Great Remember to register it with Dyson
strange the on the dyson part of the website at argos. It shows this
Dyson DC44 Multifloor Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner.
£189.99 Fast Track Was £279.99 Save £90.00 but when you click on it it then shows £279.99.... cannot get the chat screen up to talk to them about it

What does registering it do? give extra warranty?
yes, it gives you dyson 2 year guarantee, if you call them just explain that you got from Argos V6 and paid for DC44, it doesnt matter but they will ask as they register the retailer you got it from. And if anything goes wrong call Dyson. They have free phone 0800..
Thanks for this! Reserved in two stores, in both I was told that although the price had gone up they would honor the £189 which it had been reserved at AND they both said 'you may get a subsitute' so i asked to view! In the first it was the DC44 but in the second i got the V6. Forgot the £10 voucher offer but not to fussed about that. Thanks OP!
reserved the dc44 for pickup today and when we got there they gave us the v6 without another word no mention about it being a replacement or anything.
needless to say i wasn't going to push the point. but a v6 for £189.99 is a bargain. thanks op
Also got mines today v6 but if you go into special offers i also got the free tool kit worth £49.99 one very happy man
Did you get the free tool kit
Just checked with live chat and they said my local will be substituting with a V6 so will make a reservation , hopefully this will be correct
Edited by: "deanos" 25th Oct 2015
I don't understand.
You only get a V6 substituted if the store is out of stock of DC44's - yes? But if the local store is out of stock, you can't reserve one online (at least I can't!!) so how are people doing it? lol
