Argos product substitute - Canon MG5751 instead of Canon MG5650

Reserved a Canon Pixma MG5650 printer (white) code 357/4942 at argos for £49.99 adding a set of batteries to get the £5 voucher!).
Got home i noticed they have supplied an MG5751 instead, however the box has the correct product code I ordered 357/4942.

The 5650 can regularly be had for £49.99 but the MG5751 is £70.99 on Amazon. The differences only seem to be the printer has a USB connection, slightly different styling and was introduced in 2015 rather than 2014 but i haven't investigated much.

Had the 5650 for over a month now - impressed and you can get ink very cheap. They look identical, by the way.
they do this from time to time. it's not an error
The mg5751 is the mg5750 in white. Canon use the 1 at the end on a lot of their products to indicate white colour. The guts are the 5750 which is almost identical to the 5650.

This is a great price so voted hot, however I did order this printer from Amazon a couple of months ago on a lightning deal. Imo it is noticeably more mechanically noisy and older generation MG Pixma models. I have had 5400s and 6150s... They were all quiet, this is noisy. Read some of the reviews, I am not the only one to think this.

However in terms of quality of print and scan and low running costs they are great. Paper handling imo has got worse though, my 6150 had 2 proper paper trays, and the top tray was at the back, the bottom tray was a full hidden cassette. These feed in from one front tray only so paper sticks out much further.
I have just had the same thing. Ordered an MG5650 at Argos and got given an MG751.
Can you use the same ink cartridges? Anyone know?
No
Sorry ... Undortunately the cartridges are much more expensive - even the non branded
Substitution is fine when buying new but when getting a replacement for a faulty unit it's not good since the ink cartridges are different and all my new spare ink would have been rendered useless. Hence, it not a "form, fit, function" replacement and this needs to be pointed out in such circumstances. Fortunately for me, another Argos still had a 5650!
I still have been able to get one as well! Bargain!
I went to Argos at Tottenham Court Road in London. However, just now the price has gone up to 69!
Watch out too.. i got this today and didn't realise there's a £10 difference between the two printers MG5751 being cheaper.. so im off back to the store to get the difference back! The MG5751 are £59.99. If you paid £69.99 for the MG5650 - get your refund!
well Argos did that to me too and guess what... I`ll be waiting for a refund another 5 days because They have made mistake , By they way Mr. Ian ( Coventry Gallagher Park Argos) that`s not the way to talk to customer who if your staff made mistake and I have to wait for refund and eventual delivery of chosen item.
Tbh.. i would have accepted a refund of the difference and kept the item. Non-official Inks are significantly more expensive for the 5751!
I have just bought a 5650 and when got home realized it is a 5751, the ink is much more expensive so want a 5650 , they have none....is the 5751 any better to justify keeping it and paying more for ink ?
They are still doing this. Happened to me yesterday. Crooked behaviour.
this deal is cold, as the inks for the printer being substituted are double the price! Cant believe Argos have been doing this for 7 months!
Argos website does not mention substitutes, they are fobbing everybody off with lesser items although they tell you they are in stock when you purchase (says on staff computers to give out lesser mg5751), Argos customer services lie through their teeth, I was told they would email me a £10 voucher code to compensate for their mistakes for a separate order where they have put PayPal funds in limbo but not given collection codes or confirmation emails, no refund received, what a surprise no voucher received either, Argos has caused me so much agro, I should have learned after 15 emails not replied to last year to be followed up with 2 months of bother sorting out a refund! Can not see myself using them again, probably will have wait months to get my money back again!
