hi all,

have been looking for a very light weight laptop/tablet with keyboard for the OH as she needs to use for Word processing (taking notes during client sessions) and web-browsing when on wifi.

Saw a Lenovo Miix 300 at Sainsburys this morning @ £149 and thought it would fit the bill. Browsing the net, found a refurb on Argos Outlet ebay for £89.99. Item description does not mention Miix 300; however EAN number 889955327765 refers to it.

Again this is for Word processing and web-browsing only as people will point to only 2GB RAM and 32GB storage (although microSD expandable). 2xUSB ports on the keyboard.

Hope it has not been a duplicate post and helps someone.

*** Lots of returns on Amazon Warehouse: £122 ***

Cheers

I have the Miix 8 and, so far, I've been really happy with it. It was a bit of a pain in the ass to get upgraded to Win10 but these come with it already installed. One of the first things to do - do all your backups, create your restore disk etc/drive and then get rid of the recovery partition to free up a load of space.
Seems a very good price but I wanted a smaller, lighter set up - pairing it with a bluetooth keyboard with trackpad and but together tip the scales at around 500g, so this is pretty light.

Use it to play GTA V all the time. Really good laptop.

Bought one of these a few weeks ago and so far not too bad. The negatives for me are - a) the wifi doesn't always connect unless it's right next to my modem, and I also had trouble connecting to some public wifi when my cheap Tesco connect tablet as well as a nokia phone connected ok
b) another problem is that the cursor sometimes dances around the screen and won't stay still when I'm trying to do something on ebay - not ideal when you need to scroll down a page or place a bid. The cursor also decides to highlight text at random now and then, but these problems might not be specific to this machine, I'm not savvy enough to know where the blame lies, but it doesn't happen with the aforementioned Tesco connect tablet, both using windows.

Course!

Course!(At 0.5fps)

It'll play older games at acceptable frame rates - I've had Burnout Paradise on medium settings playing well on my Linx 8

Sounds like you may have malware on your computer.

Was thinking about buying the kids something like this last Christmas, but found nothing at all with a budget at double this. Seems early to buy for next Christmas, as they'll lose half of their warranty, but by Christmas something like this will be extortionate. Sure, it won't play GTA 5, but the kids play miniclip games, mostly web based. The benchmark isn't too bad for the money, like 1200+. Hot from me.

Please note this is not full hd screen, only 1280 x 800.

This would be great for Remix OS.

This won't even run gta V, anything above gta 3 will need decent-high end specs to run

Not a bad little thing, great price, 89 quid is a steal, a little light on the storage and not a full HD screen which is a pity, seems to have some connectivity issues in terms of Wifi too if you google it, but decent processor, nice size and weight, all around not too shabby

2 in 1?

Ah touch screen and detachable keyboard , might be worth putting that in the description.

No problem ... Plug this in amazon.co.uk/Gig…1nd and this will run GTA V

Excuse my ignorance, but I am not very techy, will bbc iplayer and the like ,work on this item without any lag etc?

I had one of these for a bit - last time they were cheap on Amazon, and it was effing dreadful. The worst piece of tech (apart from maybe an Archos tablet) I have had the misfortune to lay my hands on.

Granted most of that is probably down to Windows 10 but genuinely, almost nothing worked and what did was ridiculously sluggish. Amazon very thankfully took it back.

Lol utter ****!!!!!!!!!!!!! Better to get a tablet for the same money it will blow this away

I meant directly in terms of specs, not streaming

Surely need more RAM aka 4G plus for Windows 10 to run properly !

I have an absolutely mint hardly been used Miix 3 for sale if anyone is interested. For those of you who are not aware the Miix 3 was a better model as it has the 1920 x 1200 resolution screen. For some strange reason Lenovo went backwards with the 300 and gave it a low resolution screen. If you live in Hull or in the East Riding of Yorkshire you can come and have a look. Comes with the box and charger. l still got just over a year of John Lewis warranty left. Not sure if that's transferrable or not but as far as I know warranties should be on the item and not on the purchaser.

I think a lot of the comments on here are unfair. I bought one of these at about £120 earlier in the year and for the money even at £120 it's brilliant. Amazingly Windows 10 seems to run fine on 2GB, of course anything resource hungry is going to be slow, after all look at the specs, but for this money? Web Browsing, watching videos, general office stuff, email its fine, I'd even go as far as saying its "quick enough". Real downsides? Weak speaker, Charging takes ages. I say its perfect middle ground between Tablet and PC, and I'm very familiar with iPads and Android tablets.

I had a tablet. A Nexus 7 which is very well regarded apparently. But it has bricked after a system update. Not impressed and I will never buy Asus again.

good thing this deal us for a lenovo then.

no just the cloud version which is fine by me...there tons of free office solutions you can use other than microsoft

I think they did come with Office from the reviews but as they are a refurb maybe they disabled it?

Will this play indie games on steam like stardew valley?

The reason there are so many returns on Amazon is that this is usless. I wouldn't pay the £9 out of the £89 for this. You'd be better trawling eBay for a second hand laptop of the same value.

I hope the returns are from people that were expecting a full laptop replacement for this device.

I will give it a try as Argos offer 30 return(buyer pays return postage). Again, OH needs are: small device, lightweight, good battery life, word processing and the occasional web surfing(email, etc). She will have her main laptop at home. Based on that I have high hopes on this device.

I had been looking at Dell e6230, but then they are heavier, I'd probably have to purchase a new battery, etc.

Let's see what happens.

I'm confused over the negative comments. Surely no one is buying this actually expecting it to be a full blown laptop? It is a well made windows 10 capable netbook type thing with a detachable keyboard making it a windows 10 touch screen tablet. Surely the whole point you would buy this is for convenience. So you can do Web browsing on a screen bigger than your phone. So you can do word processing/office tasks while on the move. So you can watch tv/kodi content while away from home.
Who the hell actually buys this expecting it to be an all singing, all dancing super spec laptop that runs faster than the servers at Jodrell Bank, and then **** it off when it doesn't!? Get real people.

I paid £120 for mine, I purchased a USB dvd drive and use it when away at weekends in hotels (hdmi to hotel room tv) or use it when camping as a dvd player. Add in that kodi can be installed and streams well and you have a great little portable media device.

I should add, the only negative I've found is that I can't get used to the touch pad and the windows "jump to" feature thingy. So I just use a wireless mouse.
