Probably a mis-pricing and the image on the site is of the Samsung 840 EVO 500GB mSATA Solid State Drive. But maybe worth a punt.

Description from Argos site:
This 840 EVO Solid State Drive from Samsung improves everyday PC productivity, including web browsing, email, multimedia and gaming. It also enables you to boot up your computer in as little as 15 seconds.

500GB capacity.
2.5" drive bay size.
512MB cache.
Manufacturer's 2 year guarantee.
EAN: 8806085767690.

The EAN does come back as Samsung SSD 840, EVO Laptop, 500GB, SATA III when googled.

doesn't own a laptop...should I purchased this? >…

I wanted to check that my card had not been charged, so I rang them - no charge was made. Guy on phone offered to push it through manually but couldn't, he spoke to a supervisor who told him the item would not be available to anyone as it was a mistake.
Annoying not to order, but better than waiting days for a refund, I suppose

Always best to call them before any orders are confirmed. Saves others getting the deal you missed out on

too good to be true me thinks

always one

To me it looks like purposeful misprice to get people to register with them. Giving this one a miss.

got the same msg:

Unfortunately, we can't confirm your order at the moment but we'll send you an email shortly (this may take a couple of hours during busy periods).

There's no need to re-submit your order.

I was just checking the card hasn't been charged, not out of spite.
In all fairness, you didn't even thank the OP and you've posted four deals in over eight years. Please spare me the lecture on 'deal etiquette'

Argos are skint again are they

no doubt, 100 of these hold the order for 2-3 days then another 3-5 processing a refund a weeks interest on 10k

Maybe they will lets us have them if the Evo bug isn't sorted later this month!

Let's work this out. So 6 weeks for argument's sake. Simple interest (just for ease of calculation) at say 2% over 6 weeks is 0.23%

And if there were say 10,000 orders at £100 each then thats £1m x 0.23% = £2,300 for keeping the money.

£2k definitely a worthwhile money making scam taking place at a listed company.

I paid by pay-pal, so they'll have loads of fees. Less 0.9% for normal credit card processing (twice inbound & outbound)

looks like they have priced the 500gb at the 256gb price on amazon (not inc the kit)

couldn't you have checked the charge through the cards online website/phone call rather than phone argos?

Do you really think it made a difference? Given that orders were already experiencing 'issues' and couldn't be placed?

Why weren't the orders all going through as normal then?

Maybe because their transaction server was getting hammered.

In all fairness, if you're so strapped you can't afford to let a hundred quid's worth of credit be tied up for a week, perhaps you shouldn't be taking a punt on this sort of offer.
