Typical Argos and their hopelessly lacking and/or incorrect product spec. Good luck getting an actual definitive answer from the Q and A. The 'agent' might be right...you just don't know.
Ps. Sorry, I meant to put 'Argos agent' who are the staff that man the Q and A section..

Indeed Borat, please enlighten us?

A 4G dual SIM phone with Lolliplop and 8GB ram for under £50 isn't too bad when you consider it's from a UK company. I have a feeling Bangood, Aliexpress and other non UK tax paying companies is the supplier of better phones for less?

In the days of premium phones having 3GB RAM, the suggested 8GB RAM you mention is outstanding for £50 oO

Google cache of the previous version of this handset (with the ugly "Alba" logo on the front lower facia) was still being shifted by Argos at £49.95 up until a few days ago and the single remaining item is still same price via Argos ebay. At £34.95 I would investigate the current model more seriously, but I doubt Argos will reduce a new model so drastically so soon, unless it's a complete lemon. Confirmation of true RAM would be useful.

Well if its running lollipop, then 1 GB ram would be the minimum for this to have any decent functionality. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if it has 512 Megabytes..doh

That's not the same phone that's the previous one to this, this one is the newer model which was released on saturday
Alba is owned by Argos, if they can't get the facts right on their own sales patter then no matter how cheap it is I wouldn't go near it with a barge pole.

I'm reasonably confident this Alba is a clone of the Archos 40 Helium. Certainly physically strikingly similar, and most of the known Alba specs are near-identical to the Archos including dimensions.

The Archos has 1GB RAM and it is likely so does the Alba, assuming Argos hasn't commissioned a cut-down spec.

In the context of this handset's compact screen size and moderate screen res, a 1500mAh battery is probably appropriate.

I'm sure someone would have said the same thing about Skoda...

Funnily enough I bought a brand new Skoda about 4 years ago. Brilliant car.
I ended up buying one of these.... and swiftly taking it back! Now I wasn't expecting too much from this phone and all things considered, its okay. It runs snappily enough with browsing/email but the clincher was the screen. It's an LCD display with very poor viewing angles..and by that I don't mean you can't watch a film by looking at the screen sideways - I mean that the slightest shift when looking head on completely throws the contrast off. This is an inherent problem with LCD but this seems particularly bad in my opinion. I didn't think they were still making smartphones with non IPS screens these days... The battery also drained quite rapidly when using WiFi but then its only packing a 1500 mAh.. For 30 quid more you can get a moto e 2nd gen which is what I'd recommend..
After performing a hard reset and the firmware screwing itself up about 8 months ago, I've recently discovered that the Alba 4 is actually a rebranded Archos Titanium 40D. Even the model numbers are the same.

Couldn't get alba firmware anywhere so installed Titanium 40D rom and "jobs a good 'un". I now have a fully working phone without the Argos rubbish.
