take in as many toys as you like.. they all going to charity you get one £5 voucher for every toy but that has to be spent on toys over £35. i would imagine its one voucher redeemed per transaction
from the argos facebook page..

The Argos aliens are back on our TVs tonight to help us promote a really special campaign. At Argos we believe that every toy should be played with, which is why we’ve launched The Toy Exchange.

From tomorrow bring in your unwanted toys
and we’ll donate them to Barnardo’s to help transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children, and we’ll give you £5 off your next toy purchase over £35. What’s more we’ve got a Facebook competition to support the campaign and you could win yourself £100 worth of Argos vouchers and another £100 for Barnardo’s
I like the idea but I just feel like why don't they just give x amount to Barnardo's instead.
Seems ok if you are going there I guess.
1 toy for 35 voucher.
I am sure argos donate millions every year, as does my company, This just seems a way of driving in business, not something they are doing for their local community.
Just see it for what it is. Publicity for Argos. Unwanted toys being re used rather than thrown away before Christmas to make room for new toys this Christmas and children who would not get anything having a nice Christmas.
i think its a prtetty good idea, even if their motives are less than wholly honourable at least it's toys for the barnardos kids to enjoy, cant be a bad thing

argos charity of the year is Teenage cancer trust , which they give thousands to .. and who knows maybey they will give x amount to barnardos at the end of the promotion
Does it have to be a new toy, ie unopened, surely they'll just get a load of broken rubbish otherwise? Just been on the website but it crashed!

the way i read it was it was toys to give to other children barnardos help disadvantaged children, so im sure they wouldnt want broken toys but used ones would be ok..I personally wouldnt give a broken toy to a charity knowing it should go to another child.. if the broken toys isnt obvious then there could be one very upset child christmas day.
Bit immoral to give in broken toys, they are for other children after all.
Just another way of Argos trying to increase poor sales pre Christmas, dress it up all you want but that what it amounts to.

If that was the case then surely they could achieve the same sales boost by just giving out the £5 vouchers gratis? Don't be such a cynic, it's for a good cause.
Most of the £35+ toys at Argos are atleast £5 costlier already, found by quick googling !

Does it have to be one toy priced at £35 + or can it be a few toys totalling that amount thanks

Erm no - with this wheeze, they can take advantage of the "think of the children!" factor.
Here's a thought. Why not just donate your unwanted toys to Barnardos direct yourself. You're not really donating them if you are exchanging them for a £5 gift voucher. Morally wrong. Naughty Argos.
Just back from Argos. I took in a couple of new unused toys, but staff said any toy would do, Barnardos either resell in the shop or recycle what they can't sell. I personally think it a good idea and can't see what the criticism is about. Recycling, charity and £5 off the item I reserved yesterday before I knew about this promotion - all good I think!
Sorry you can only use the voucher if the toy is priced at £35 or higher and not on £35 worth of toys is this correct ? Thanks

does a toy include the Kinect and will they accept toys you get with kids meals, I'm talking ones from 20 + years ago, not recent ones.
When does this £5 voucher expire please?

Not taking anything into our barnardos, the women who work there do a carboot at our local footy club on a sunday with stuff thats been donated that they've "bought" before it gets to the shop floor, I took a pushchair/carseat in and wondered why I didnt see it in the shop when i went past the next day and next weekend there they were selling it themselves claiming they'd paid for it so had the right to sell it

I know that quite a few charity shop volunteers take some goods to car boot sales then give the money to the charity

Presumably (or, at least, HOPEFULLY) once they get the toys, they'd have some people sorting them and putting aside any broken ones to either be recycled (for materials, if they're made of plastic, say) or simply destroyed if they are beyond any sort of usefulness.
If u take the toys directly to a Bandardo shop they will give you a voucher for Argos too

As usual, some jobs get done better if you do them yourself, so you could sell your unwanted stuff on ebay for the best price, then donate the cash. This, of course, takes more time.

But then you could also argue that most charities nowadays are administratively bloated and thus wasteful of quite a big % of the donations they get, so the next logical step is to cut out the charity, find the needy people locally yourself and take the cash to them in person!
emm7, wheres your local Barnardos store?
Isn't this similar to the oxfam M&S tie up? Did that also generate this much debate? Anyway, recycling is generally a good idea, just be wise to the company's motives. cheers op!
Can it be children's books too?
