Posted before and expired so thought I would post again...

Unlikely to last very long but got to be better than plastic and probably cheaper than most plastic sets... Great for BBQ's, low budget weddings, family birthdays, children's parties, etc.

This 24-piece Venice cutlery set from the Argos Value Range is made from stainless steel with an elegant design on the handles.

6 place settings comprising:
- 6 knives
- 6 forks
- 6 dessert spoons
- 6 teaspoons

Dishwasher safe.

Now now I've told you before good boys and girls don't put knives in their mouths

Great little set to use as an overflow for when the time calls!

Bought a few months back, and pleased for the price.

Unable to check stock at this time

just what we need for our crewroom

The edges are a bit sharp/jagged. You can tell they are cheap. Not very ergonomic.

Still good for budget/emergencies considering how much a decent set costs

Would be good to use on a boat.

Perfect for my mates wedding present.

Cheaper than plastic ones!!

They look like some we got a few years ago. Whilst it is true that they are not the best quality, for this price they are a bargain. Have some heat.

Thanks just reserved a set in sheffield

thanks

I never understood the difference between cheap st steel cutlery and an expensive one apart from design probably.

Have a look at the Asda smartprice set (I posted in HUKD) at £1.25 for the 16 piece set.

Eh? What is so special about a boat that this cutlery is good for and different from anywhere else they would be used?

Design counts for a lot. Apart from the finish, which this thread references in a few posts, the quality or grade of the alloy used will be vastly different from a cheap set compared to a well known brand etc. A good quality cutlery set should last a lifetime.

Got this last time. Pretty light. Wouldn't recommend as a main set but great for the price.

Made of tin foil, will bend just by looking at them!

Serious? At £2.79 this is disposable not lifetime...

If you read what you've replied to, you will see that the original question was in a general context along with my reply. There is no reference to this particular set.

Just collected mine.
Was worried about them not actually being Stainless Steel, as it doesnt say it anywhere on the box, but the blades have Stainless Steel embossed on them. There is a "handwash only" recommendation on the box though.

They're thin but they have a good feel to them, and unless you plan to cut wood, can't see it being an issue.
If I didn't already have lots of cutlery I'd have got a second box.

Do bare in mind, don't waste your time queueing to use the reservation collection machines when getting these. It fails with a "go to manned station" error message. Turns out it's cause you have to buy it from someone in person as there's an age restriction.
