  • Use indoor and outdoor with weatherproof cameras
  • Motion sensor sends push notifications through to your smart device

What makes these cameras different?
These cameras are completely wire free in that they transmit the video wirelessly to the base unit and they run on CR123 batteries which last for up to six months. The images are recorded in 1280x720 resolution to give you a sharp picture while viewing and the 8m of night vision allows you to place your cameras away from the area you want to view.

What else can these cameras do?
The Arlo cameras are capable of sending you email alerts and push notifications to let you know if the camera has detected movement. The free downloadable app allows you to watch what is happening wherever you have an internet connection while the cameras also record to a cloud server giving you a chance to save footage if anything should happen.

How easy is this system to set up?
This system is completely wire free and simple to set up. After inserting the batteries in to the cameras and plugging the base unit into the mains, the system will auto initialise and complete the set up.

3 month battery life. Best to get POV kits
These have always had decent reviews but this model version has been superseded by the Arlo Pro and the Arlo Pro 2 ranges since. Heat added as they have obviously come down in price since first launched, but still pricey mind

POE you mean....
3 months equals 2-3 weeks after a few months use
Mine have lasted over 6 months and still have 60% left. Depends how you use them and how many triggers you get a day. These aren't designed for constant live streaming.
The blink system is much better and just been bought by amazon
Much rather get hikvisions

A POE kit wouldn't be much use as the cameras are fully wireless with no ports. Their portability is their major advantage, it means being able to stick a camera anywhere, inside or outside, without drilling holes or worrying about power supply.

The picture quality and app are very good. If the alarm is triggered, your phone will let you know and the camera starts recording. Images (both recorded and live) can be viewed from anywhere there is an internet connection.

My experience is the battery life is not great and rechargeable replacements do not have much power, meaning they need to be replaced frequently, which is not idea if the camera is hard to reach. However, the kit is Echo compatible (using Arlo Alexa Skills) and the app can disarm the cameras when your phone recognises you are at home and during certain hours, which reduces the battery drain considerably, and increases privacy.

While Arlo and similar cams are expensive, they are not easily hacked unlike cheaper Chinese alternatives, this should be a major considation when putting camera's in your home and being able to access them remotely. I'm no secuirty expert, but I don't need to be to know this type of equipment is an obvious target.
The picture quality on these devices are appalling and nowhere near the impression given by '720p'.

Basically, whilst the cameras themselves have the capability to deliver a good resolution, EVERYTHING is done via Netgear's servers, so the quality is hamstrung by the bandwidth used to upload and download the pictures from wherever they go.

It's a real shame as the principle is fantastic too. Don't be put off by the battery life, it's genuinely not a concern.

Just have a look at some sample footage from YouTube before buying - it's not good enough to read a car registration plate from a few metres away and is nowhere near the quality of a good wired system.

The convenience is there's no wiring.
Lol so many arlo haters in here

I sent my blink back and replaced with Arlo as the Blink isn’t infared and and illuminates the whole place where the Arlo system is far superior

He said blink, not blink xt. The blink cameras are led, and not exactly subtle about it. The xt has just come out in the UK.

So he wasn't wrong at all

The fact they have been bought by Amazon is a reason not to but it.
