Another good indoor/outdoor home security camera kit! This one's completely wireless, each camera operates with batteries so you get flexibility to place them ANYWHERE!

Thought I'd share
Cold. You have to replace batteries every 3 months. Buy the logi circle 2. Much better system with 180 degree shot and full HD.

One Logi Circle (outdoor compatible) costs half as much as 3 of these plus hub. 3 months is a lot of time, plus you get notifications when battery is running low. I think they are much dynamic, especially in terms of shape and size.
Though obviously, its a personal choice.

All you need to do is to get yourself rechargeable batteries, ARLO is great no wires to worry about you can install it whenever you would like.
Meh expensive lazy 720p cameras for people who can’t be bothered to run power/Poe, but enjoy changing batteries every few months
Hmmmm. Seems flawed compared to traditional hard wired ones...

I’ll half agree with you. It isn’t always practical to run Cat cable everywhere.
Its a great system if you want to avoid the expense, mess and inconvenience of a wired system. Clearly some compromises (its movement activated so not always recording, batteries do run out between 3-5 months) but it is easy to self install and relatively cheap. A great solution for me and a brilliant deterrent (lots of break ins round here lately).
If youre thinking about CCTV, regardless which solution you are after, buy it. You'll be full of regret if you wait until you are broken into before deciding to get this stuff
1- Very poor Night Vision which should be the forefront of any CCTV system for Security
2- The 720p System is useless after 12-15ft even on maximum Video quality for faces
3- Even at high Video quality you get Pixelated images and Video
4- Very Expensive and Very Overpriced
5- Limited to 5 Cameras unless you upgrade
6- Internet fails you lose the cameras
7- No visual zone to set the cameras, only a slider bar for sensitivity
Bought the 4 camera for £324 few days ago whilst on offer.Seen good reviews and to those who feel buyers are being ‘lazy’ well,it’s not always practical to start calling around and moreover it can be easily moved to different locations as desired.A few quid every few months for batteries is nothing compared to the assurance that the house is being monitored and secure.

Can you recommend an alternative? Worth paying the extra to get wired in? After seeing some toe-rags skulking nearby on my current system i feel it’s time to upgrade.

It all depends what you’re after, I’m still putting together my shopping list but for poe bullet SV3C Security Camera, Full HD 1080P POE(Power Over Ethernet) IP Camera Outdoor, Stabler Connection Compared with Wifi Cameras, IP66 Waterproof, Motion Detection Alarm, 20Meter Night Vision amazon.co.uk/dp/…GZX

Sv3c/hikvision a good place to start, the night vision on these arlo’s are very poor, I crossed them off the list quite early on

And yet i have an Arlo camera set up that caught some scum bag at the front of my property (not going into details),and because of the Arlo video footage he was given a 2.5 year prison sentence.

So from personal experience it does the job just fine.

Your post is just all negatives and my point is it was good enough to get a conviction, what more can you ask for.

Also i wouildnt have bothered with any type of CCTV set up if it weren't for these being 100% wire free as a conventional system wasn't really an option.

I had the Pro quickly gave back to get the Pro 2. That said the Pro night vision was better, all in all an easy to setup wireless setup with quick to view notifications, even versus my Ring Pro the Arlo system is quicker.

For me these were very quickly installed after a daytime burglary, the Scumbag returned a week later saw the cameras and legged it so well worth visual CCTV.

I looked at numerous installed £1000+ systems and all the wireless, if you want rock solid cloud uploads and detections Arlo is the one, plus a doddle to install and yours to take if you move.

Fair point, just for me negatives out weighed positives, there’s also a lot of feedback that say cameras just drop and have to re-sync
Great system if you want to miss half or all the movement. By the time the system has detected movement, the person has walked past

There is no doubt that a full on wired in system that records 24/7 is better, but if wiring a system in isn't an option then this definitely fills a gap.

Can't say live personaly had any issues with it needing to be reconnected, but in this cold weather it does kill that batteries much quicker, but i use rechargeables that cost me around £8 for 12 off Amazon.

One other good thing with these is that they are compatible with IFTT,i have a recipe set up that when the camera is triggered at my front door all the Philips hue lights flash on and off repeatedly throughout the whole house, this came in very useful when we were on holiday and some dodgy looking character was knocking at our front door at 3am,looking back at the Arlo footage he looked well confused when the whole house all lit up and he promptly walked off,but kept looking back as i think he thought a house party had just started lol.

It's not a problem if it is set up at the correct angle and sensitivity.

Again my post about getting a conviction proves that it clearly doesn't miss the action.

I can not comment on other systems as I lack the knowledge but from my experience of this camera system it is really poor. I have had to change my batteries twice in 4 weeks as I got it for my shop. Recording is motion detected so often doesn't begin recording immediately and is not continuous. Batteries are expensive, i couldn't comment on the rechargeable ones.

Overall a LOT of hassle and inefficient. Pay for a wired system which you can probably get for around the similar money where possible.

Risk falling out the window
If you have arlo, I recommend these rechargeable batteries - Ppower Pbe 12 packs of 700mAh 3.7v Cr123a 16340 Li-ion Rechargeable Battery + PPOWER 4 Slots Li-ion charger (PI4) + Battery boxes (12X) P-POWER CE/UL Certified for Arlo Camera, Reolink Argus, Keen, etc amazon.co.uk/dp/…DEH
Just my thoughts as I have this system -

I bought it as I wanted a cable free solution for monitoring certain points on my property. As mentioned, it is not a constant monitoring device and requires movement to activate. This means 2 things - position the camera where you can catch movement at the right angle but also ensure it is not too close to trees etc which will keep setting it off. This will mean the batteries will run down quickly. I find approx 2/3 months is about as much as you get in a low movement area - 1 or 2 months by your front door for example.

So if you don't want cables, can position the cameras in good areas (also accessible to change the batteries) and just want peace of mind, I recommend them.

If you're after high definition, 24 hour monitoring (for a shop as mentioned earlier) these are definitely not for you.

I might look at the new pro 2 version as they now have rechargable batteries and better cameras (with sound) but are not for sale in the UK yet.

Much better results with proper IP cameras for similar money.
These are marketed as an easy setup system but are really low resolution in comparison.
