720P... Don't bother

Was enough resolution (at night) for us to get someone sentenced to prison!
This was comforting.

Exactly the kind of person who thinks a camera or camera on a phone is better because it has a higher megapixel rating. It's about lenses, quality of the sensor and also software. You have much to learn young Padawan.

I’ve had the arlo system for nearly 3 years and it still works fine with 3 cameras.720 is still a good picture after all it’s just for surveillance not voyeurism. The only real difference might be the recordable sad card in case you inadvertently wiped an important recording from online

I’d take the brand name over a random brand especially for something important and expensive like CCTV.
Biggunspaul21/07/2019 10:48

Yes

Thanks ordered 2x camera kit from warehouse for £115 hopefully it works well through window.

They have great reviews, free cloud storage with no sub, on board SD Card and additional cameras are cheaper, with Amazon they can be returned easily within 30 days, I was thinking I would know if it was suitable within 30 days?
Although I do fancy the Arlo too.

If only you understood the difference between image resolution and image quality. Crisp 720p image is completely adequate.
Not as good as ring

Voted hot! Posted this deal a few days ago for £0.15 more and got some hot votes. The extra camera was £65 a few days ago on Amazon, now £80. Decent price but I ordered something else cheaper and full HD.

Get it, especially if you have other smartphone devices. You will not regret it, so much peace of mind, especially being able to draw mottion

It won’t work at all through a window I’m afraid. The motion sensor is heat activated and isn’t able to detect the motion through glass
We have the arlo pro system, it's excellent in every way apart from one very important one... There is no way of putting a time stamp on original footage, it's the biggest complaint this system has.
I have the Arlo system with 2 cameras. Really handy and had no issues, battery lasts about 3 months or so and east to replace them
Must have had these around 2 years now

Any link for that
Is there a second generation of these?
Is that netgear router part of the bundle?
This or reolink argus 2 ? (ignoring the price difference)

It won’t at night with night vision on. These are wireless though, so why not mount it outside (I think you can get lockable mounts to make harder to steal)?
Don’t buy this they will just close the cloud service before too long and all the kit goes straight into the bin as it can’t be reconfigured to be used without their service. Last netgear cctv was called vuezone and it went in the bin they don’t care for their customers was an expensive lesson. Now I avoid all netgear products
Doesn't look like this one works with Google assistant if you check the Arlo website?
Not great reviews. So not sure to buy or not
I was thinking of this one of these, but after reading all the coments I think I will do it correctly and invest in a Hikvision set up and get it right 1st time.
I think this is the one I might have had briefly, don't know the spec but looks like it. I had an issue bring that the base station only connects using wired ethernet and not connect to our WiFi router. Worth checking if someone knows
Great price product.
Had it, returned it. Range isn’t very good, prone to sticking in IR mode and expensive to run on batteries.

Reolink is full HD and has very good reviews, particularly Argus 2 model. Difficult to ignore the price difference, as reading over the internet it seems Reolink has good reviews and Arlo not so good, particularly with regards to the battery. However, this may be due to price, expectations are higher when the price is double.
I wanted Argus 2 but I've just got the Pro version, as it was on sale and almost half price of Argus 2. Don't ask me how good it is, I've received the parcel yesterday, so did not have the chance to look at it. If you're interested and if the price matters, keep an eye on their official website, at some point 2 weeks ago Argus 2 was down to £76. Delivered with DHL from Germany.

Like all netgear kit, this fails after a year or two. I have four of these cameras and they’ve all failed in the past few months. They’re 2.5 years old and out of warranty, so are now an expensive paperweight. I would not recommend them.

I had a Hikvision NVR (DS-7700 16 port, 6TB) and 7 x 8MP (UHD cameras running via POE) professionally installed in Jan 2018. Absolutely rock solid. Brilliant image quality and it all just works. Apps are good and also integrated with our Pyronix alarm system (Pyronix owned by Hikvision). Highly recommended piece of kit, not cheap, but a great investment.

Old version, at least need Arlo pro
